Heartbreaking news report from Gaza - Dr receives bodies of her children

Many of you will already have read about this. Paediatric specialist Dr Alaa al-Najjar was on duty when the bodies of nine of her 10 children were received by her in the hospital, after a strike in Khan Younis hit her home.

This report just stopped me in my tracks. I don't know what to say beyond this. I cannot stop thinking about this poor woman tonight.

This is in the Honest John article. Has anyone else read it? The quote is from the article. If you read the article the comments about it make sense. They don't without reading the article. Without reading the article posted by another poster then the comments don't make any sense.

What denial? A doctor lost her children, it's horrendous, however, some have posted incorrect details, false pictures of her, false pictures of children which leads to stories of red flags. Just facts should be enough. People will question when fake pictures etc are released.

Drop the soundbites, there are so many trotted out phrases on here. Read what's posted first, all of it?

Did anyone post on this group? No they didn't and that doesn't change the fact that Israel bombed her house killing nine of her small children.

You know what's even simpler? Stop bombing Gaza.

It literally breaks every rule of journalism in the book - no sources, no evidence just lots of made up “facts”. You wouldn't even get that back from a real editors with red lines through it, you’d just be fired!

I could go through the article and explain why the whole thing is ludicrous but it’s not worth wasting my time, it’s just so ridiculous. Look at the BBC, the Guardian, the Times - look at accredited sites where they have to follow the rules on reporting, cite sources, verify facts and photographs and abide by a code of conduct.

Indeed, but in the meantime perhaps help out as Poland did? Is that really impossible when people are dying? If Poland (and Europe) said that to the people of Ukraine, stay there, they shouldn't bomb you, how many more would die. Maybe help out and attempt to save some people or not as is the case.

I could also go through the article and ask why are news sites using pictures of the wrong children, the wrong mother, why use AI pictures?

If only accurate pictures were used then Honest John couldn't run the story at all. It's bad enough without the need for fake pictures and stories. It helps no one

Try separating when it's true and when it's not. Some stories are true, some stories are not. Both can be possible.

I read it. Some parts of the story which can be checked are true, fake pictures of doctors children, fake pictures of doctor with the bodies, etc, some content is stereotyping prejudice. A reason to question things perhaps. There are fake stories on both "sides'

But this story isn't fake even if one image that was being shared on social media was. Incidentally it was dr najjar's family who asked social media users to not share the fake image.

Lots of verified facts and images here! Do tell us which ones are fake! Do you think the kids never existed or do you think they didn’t die or what exactly are you trying to say. Nine children murdered in this one family.

If you actually read the post that was shared upthread and what it says then you might understand the comments. If you chose not to read the original story and subsequent posts, you won't understand the comments.

However, making things up that weren't said doesn't help at all.

Theres an Honest Reporting site which is heavily biased but no bloody John!

At the end of the day people are dying in an awful conflict. I'm sure that we all want it to end.
