Excellent. I do hate it when people misunderstand. It's such a cause for conflict don't you think? We all understand each other perfectly.

I'm glad you can at least see that Israel has a responsibility to defend itself and its citizens.

The key word being 'defend' as opposed to obliterating your neighbour. That would be known as 'attack'.

So how should Israel defend herself in your opinion?

By doing whatever it is they've been doing since 2008. It seems to have been effective since then according to fatality and injury stats.

So you think they should just sit tight and wait for terrorists to come at them? Stay on their side of the fences and behind the iron dome? What about when terrorists bomb buses in Tel Aviv? Are only Palestinians allowed to cross the border to kill? But Israelis not?

smallglassbottle · 14/05/2025 20:25

The Israelis have the Gazans trapped within Gaza.

smallglassbottle · 14/05/2025 20:33

Circular arguments aren't addressing the problem and presumably one can't state the source of the problem that led to the october attacks. Therefore the question can't be answered. So, a stalemate.

Perhaps they were just returning the explosives that hamas keeps carelessly throwing over the fence.

Nearly every family in Gaza has lost their home and at least one family member because of those explosives. Of course the weapons Israel have are much more sophisticated and ultimately deadly than anything Hamas can muster up. Israel are attacking and largely unarmed population who are being starved while the food & medicine meant for them sits waiting just a few miles down the road.

You have spend months here defending it and now you are making a little joke about it.

You’re actually all keener than the Israeli government to justify their actions. With their latest set of goals for the war, they aren’t even hiding what they are doing now.

From the same article:

A security source emphasized that the forces confirmed there were no hostages in the facility prior to the strike. Based on Israeli intelligence, several senior Hamas figures were present at the site that was bombed. According to Palestinian reports, the attack resulted in seven fatalities and 30 injuries.

The joint IDF and Shin Bet statement asserted: "The terrorist organization Hamas continues to use hospitals in the Gaza Strip for terrorist purposes, cynically and cruelly exploiting the civilian population inside and around the hospital. Prior to and during the strike, measures were taken to minimize the risk to civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence information. IDF and Shin Bet will continue to act forcefully against the Hamas terrorist organization and eliminate any threats to the citizens of the State of Israel."

Sounds like the Israel military got a tip off. Hamas security leaking like a colander, to paraphrase Ted in Line of Duty.

I thought it was first reported that 28 were killed. See how the mainstream media rushed to report figures straight out of Gaza.

Is that what you think Israel have been doing since 2008, sitting on their hands just minding their own business while the awful Palestinians attack them? Since when have Israel stayed on 'their own side of the fences'? Israel the same country that is currently occupying Palestine, Lebanon and Syria staying in their own territory. What type of revisionist history is this?

No, i don't think Israel have been doing that, of course they haven't! Please read the thread. I was asking pp if that's what she thinks Israel should be doing. She's declined to answer so far.

I did read the thread she said By doing whatever it is they've been doing since 2008. and you quoted her and replied about Israel sitting on their hands and staying in their own borders.

I didn't decline to answer, I told you that there was no chance of addressing this due to what happened on the October.

smallglassbottle · 14/05/2025 21:40

I'm not dealing with these tricksy people. There is literally no point. The truth is plain to see. Nothing shocks me anymore. It's sad and disappointing of course. I'm just relieved I'm not a Palestinian. Nothing changes here of course.

Edited

How could you have thought I suggested that's what Israel was doing then? I don't think that's what they've been doing and I also don't think that's what they should do.

Saying they should do what they have been doing is nonsense. What they have been doing has bought us to 7 October. Again I would have thought that was obvious. She can't seriously think ' what they have been doing ' is a credible answer, no thought at all went into that.

I haven't got the patience for this tonight.

They're now reporting 80 killed in strikes today. You obviously have no idea how long it can take to get accurate fatality figures on a bomb site

I think its pretty self explanatory why I thought that.

Poster: They should keep doing what they have been doing since 2008.

Your reply does indeed suggest that that is what you believe they have been doing since 2008.

I'm glad you've cleared it up though that that is in fact something Israel have never done.

If anything fatality figures are generally underestimated as there may not be accurate numbers of people in the location. Why claim a number and give it the media before it is even partially verified? It didn’t take long to get the correct figure.

Increasing the number four fold from a relatively small number of 7 and giving it to the media, then the media running with it is not a mistake. No one can count that badly and it doesn’t state ‘unconfirmed reports’ or ‘up to 28’ in the BBC article. It states 28 as fact taking it from Hamas.

You don’t see that as an issue obviously.

@Whatsinanamehey Are you still devastated that 7 Hamas terrorists were targeted and may have been killed as in your OP?

Was the hospital building itself even damaged as the craters look to be all outside?

The residents were given multiple warnings to evacuate to Gaza City, including a final warning last night, according to the article. Why didn’t they? Unfortunately in an active war zone, especially an urban one, the choice is leave or risk death. Surely it’s a no-brainer?

Why would anyone stay there with children who have no choice in the matter at all.

More terrible, needless, loss of life.

Of course I will be flamed for not caring and ‘dehumanising’ Palestinians for that view, but the fact is that they have agency even in a war.

Imagine trying to pass off imagery of a drainage ditch as a Hamas tunnel command centre. And the imagery showing this command centre aka drainage ditch has now been geolocated as the school opposite the hospital, not even the hospital itself. Fucking hell.

Your posts blaming the Palestinians today for their deaths for not moving fast enough before they were killed by the bombs are incredibly callous. You have no idea under what circumstances these people were murdered. It really is dehumanising as you know yourself. I would hope that even those who support Israel can try and make you see how you are doing no service to your cause.

Over half of Gaza has been declared as an active war zon BTW, it' not as simple as moving to the next street or area amongst streets and roads filled with rubble and no mode of transport for many families. Anyway this is my last post to you as I won't be engaging with such disgusting rhetoric anymore.

Odras · 15/05/2025 08:27

70% of Gaza is either a military buffer or a no go zone. There are only small pockets of Gaza city that aren’t under evacuation orders so it would be difficult to evacuate there. There are also no designated humanitarian zones since Israel recommenced the war. You heard them - all of Gaza will be destroyed. Where would you run to?
