In a war, of course each side can expect to be killed by the other. That's what happens in a war.

Of course.

Only they weren't at war on 7 October were they?

Now they are, because Israel needs to defend itself against terrorist that would kill kids at a party and families in their beds.

And as you said, now they are at war, lots of people are dying.

7 October is turning out to be a massive, heartbreaking own goal.

So it's Israel's fault then?

Oh and Iran are a joke. All mouth and trousers, as my grandmother used to say.

Iranian armed forces are the biggest in the Middle East according to Wikipedia so not an enemy I would want to laugh at.

Yes, but they don't half do a lot of threatening with no follow through.

I’ve reported that offensive comment that Israel are to blame for October 7th and the massacre of nearly 2,000 innocents is somehow comparable to someone going on holiday with their windows and door unlocked.

I'm sorry, I can't believe this post. Israel bear responsibility for failing to protect themselves? You're seriously drawing a comparison with a house burglary when you're on holiday? Israel were warned abd chose not to take action?
Honestly I can't believe what I'm hearing here.

That was an absolute shocker.

Oh that’s alright then. Maybe I’ll book a holiday to Iran I’m sure it will be fine.

Why were Israel bombing Gaza for 3 days a week before Oct 7 then? They don't sound like great neighbours if they are bombing people in 'peace time' 😕

quantumbutterfly · 14/05/2025 19:18

Perhaps they were just returning the explosives that hamas keeps carelessly throwing over the fence.

Well then you didn't read or understand what I wrote. I said that Israel has a responsibility to defend itself and its citizens. It was Hamas at fault for attacking them, but Israel needs to defend itself.

Twisty, twisty wordsmiths ain't ya? Semantics and all that.

Yes, please do. They have a tourist industry funnily enough. It's a very beautiful country from what I understand and the people are friendly from what I've read.

Maybe. Hardly sounds like a ceasefire though does it? 100s of dead Palestinians including over 30 children, violent raids and destruction of infrastructure all over the West Bank, pogroms of Palestinian villages and days of dropping bombs. It's strange that none of them count as 'starting a war' though and that Oct 7 isnt seen as further escalation of what was already an extremely violent time in the region with 100s of people including children dead rather than the beginning of something.

Are you for real? Haven’t you heard about that retired UK couple recently who got arrested in Iran months ago for doing nothing but travelling around … they are still in prison in Iran I believe.

I think you need to do more reading or get your information from different sources.

Were they? I didn't know that. I knew about airstrikes in May against Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists...

Israel launches airstrikes to kill terrorists who threaten Israeli citizens. They don't much care if they kill Palestinian civilians in the process.

Palestinian terrorists launch rockets into Israel frequently with the express purpose of killing Israeli citizens. They often launch these rockets from civilian buildings in the full knowledge that they are endangering their own civilians.

I know which I think is more heinous.

In any case, Palestinian civilians get the shitty end of the stick.

They ignored government warnings. Their responsibility to check things. Or are some elements of responsibility taking not to be expected?

Excellent. I do hate it when people misunderstand. It's such a cause for conflict don't you think? We all understand each other perfectly.

I'm glad you can at least see that Israel has a responsibility to defend itself and its citizens.
