Israeli Eurovision: how low can you go?

Israeli entry in Eurovision song contest is likely to be a song called 'October Rain' sung by trans-identifying 'Eden 'Golan'.

My previous thread was deleted for pointing this out.

Poor old Bambie Thug, always lagging one place behind Eden Golan.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You’re never behind when you support Peace

Alternative/goth/pagan is always likely to be a bit more niche than mainstream power ballad, and there's room in the music industry for both. Both artists performed well and have released technically competent music of very different styles.

The pro Palestinian and peace supporters on here and other threads are so polite
I really don’t know how you all keep it up amongst some of the otherwise 🤢gaslighting, ghoady, gotcha attempts.

But I applaud you all with
your facts
your proof and
your composure

👏👏👏👏👏👏

It’s true @Scirocco is always polite, fair and balanced and it’s a shame not everyone is like that. The “gaslighting, goady and Gotcha” behaviour can be seen from posters on both sides .

No, it was a throwaway joke that you’ve taken a bit too seriously.
Are you genuinely shocked? Their performance got a great reception and scored highly so I’m not sure why it would come as such a surprise that people are listening to it. Eurovision’s a one and done for me so I wouldn’t listen to any of the songs again but people are all different and some of them have terrible taste in music.

So was mine, I didn't take yours seriously

Tbf, I'm not always - sometimes over in AIBU I'm a lot harsher with my recommendations of binning useless men.

I can’t imagine you ever being like that @Scirocco but I agree there a definitely some men that definitely need binning 🤣

In six months time no will remember who Bambi Thug or Eden Golon is thank god! What a ridiculous fuss over a song contest

Agreed!

Walkaround · 18/05/2024 16:21

I think the fuss is just proof that the contest always has been political. It’s a bit daft to pretend otherwise.

25milesfromhome · 19/05/2024 11:54

Who's pretending otherwise?

Fairly obviously Liv999, who said, “What a ridiculous fuss over a song contest.” Not something you would say if you thought it was political, rather than just a song contest.

I'm well aware it's political, but at the end of the day it's still just a song contest, nothing to be getting upset about as some people on this thread have been, it happens once a year and it's forgotten about until the following year!

That's a little bit condescending to @Liv999 don't you think? I'm sure most people understand the different facets of Eurovision and are entitled to discuss whatever aspect they choose.

Walkaround · 19/05/2024 20:31

You’re a little bit condescending yourself, don’t you think? They said what they said.

25milesfromhome · 19/05/2024 20:45

And I said what I said. You were the one saying they were a bit daft.

Walkaround · 19/05/2024 21:15

And they were.

Walkaround · 19/05/2024 21:17

It is daft to say it was a ridiculous fuss over a song contest. The fuss was not about the song contest, the songs or the singing.

But it should have been, that's why it was so ridiculous! Nobody actually cares what bambie thug or eden golon or any of the others actually think do they? I definitely don't! Lighten up

Appreciate you don’t care, which is your right of course
but many people did and do, which is their right also.

Yes absolutely

HelenHen · 20/05/2024 19:48

What made me really sad was that nobody personally said anything against Eden. The protest was about the Israeli entry.

Yet the responding attacks on Bambi Thug have been absolutely repulsive. Since when is it OK to mock people for their gender, sexuality, appearance, etc? The mocking, laughing, jokes and physical comparisons to other entrants have been disgusting and, I would imagine, very distressing for anyone who thought the world was becoming a more accepting place.

But also, to respond like this, whilst trying to claim some kind of moral higher ground, is just ridiculous.

I did see one comment that she was secretly trans, but it was very much laughed off. Neither was the changing her name accusation widely shared. She is literally representing the state of Israel though, which is currently committing genocide, so you can't really dispute the 3rd accusation.

I've answered your points. Do you think the treatment and personal abuse of bambie thug was acceptable? All of the physical comparisons between Bambi and Golan as a good vs evil reference? I've seen hundreds of those memes
