I am so sorry @Parkingt111 .

The IDF has left it in a state of desolation. I remember hearing a speech that said the bombing alone of the Gaza Strip was the equivalent (minus the radiation) of 2 nuclear bombs.

The Israeli government says "forces have pulled out... people can return to their homes...". Several slight issues with that, as we can see.

There are atleast TEN Palestinian villages in the occupied west bank that are currently being terrorised after one 14 year old Israeli child was killed.
Those who were involved should definitely be apprehended and charged but how is this violence and terrorism against so many innocent Palestinians not being stopped? Where is the outrage?

The ten villages as below:

  1. Al-Mughayyir: Settlers opened fire, torched cars and wounded Palestinians.
  1. Duma: Settlers opened fire, torched cars and wounded Palestinians.

3.As-Sawiya: Settlers hurl stones, damaging five homes and several vehicles.

4.Qusra: Settlers torch six homes and four vehicles in addition to other vandalism in the village.

5.Beitin: Settlers torch a car.

  1. Silwad: Settlers block the village’s main road, throwing stones at vehicles, which damage several of them

7.Sinjil: Settlers hurl stones at homes, damaging five of them.

8.Beitillu: Settlers hurl stones at homes, damaging several of them

9.Turmusaya: Settlers vandalize three vehicles and two homes

  1. Beit Furik: Settlers damage several houses and injure one Palestinian.

Every time I think this has to be it, this has to be when people stop this, it just gets worse.

The IDF may eventually 'step in' with a gentle "that's enough now", once there's enough blood spilled and people terrorised. In the meantime, and afterwards, it will be the Palestinians who face being shot dead if they try to defend themselves or their homes.

The IDF who beat this journalist and destroyed his equipment, and settlers who were rampaging and burning houses, sound like the Klu Klux Klan. The journalist was doing his job. If they didn’t want him to film them, it is because they know full well they are criminals.

It is dreadful the Israeli boy of only 14 has been murdered,by a Palestinian/s in a terrorist attack according to Israel. Many Palestinian 14 year olds and much younger children too have been murdered by the Israeli government/IDF. These people havd no moral high ground.

This is all wrong. The settlers should allow official investigations and indictments and soldiers should not beat up journalists and destroy their equipment.

Parkingt111 · 13/04/2024 17:12

@Scirocco not to forget the damage to homes, livelihood and long lasting trauma.
The settler violence is a direct reflection of Netanyahus policies in the occupied west bank. They are emboldened to act is such a violent manner towards Palestinian because they know there will be little to no repercussions for it.

It's insane. If Palestinians invaded and set fire to villages in Israel every time an Israeli killed a Palestinian child this would be happening weekly in Israel(and this is before Oct 7). We all know what it would be called if Palestinians did that and we would all be expected to condemn it. Where is the condemnation for this?

Colonel Lawrence Wilkinson, he is a firebrand and rightly angry. He worked for Colin Powell when some of those "lies" led to American intervention in Iraq.

UN meeting scheduled for 4pm New York time today (I think 9pm UK time?)

And yes the hypocrisy of calling for a UNSC meeting, after repeatedly denigrating it.

Today we learned that an Israeli military court has placed Palestinian Christian young woman Layan Nasir, who was arrested last week, in administrative detention for four months (renewable). Potential war-crime according to UN

UN report: Israel has destroyed over 3,000 buildings in 1km 'buffer zone' it is creating inside Gaza border

A UN report has said that Israel has destroyed over 3,000 buildings within a 1km “buffer zone” that it is creating inside the Gaza Strip along the territory’s border with Israel.

The report says:
''Statistical analysis shows the rapid increase in damaged and destroyed buildings within the zone, from 15% to 90% between October 2023 and February 2024. Satellite-derived analysis undertaken on 29 February 2024 on 4042 buildings within the zone, shows 3033 destroyed, 593 damaged (severe or moderately) and 416 with no visible damage''.

A little bit of hope

Humanitarian aid getting into the Gaza Strip has increased significantly in the last few days, White House national security spokesman John Kirby has said.
He told MSNBC:
''The aid has increased and quite dramatically in just the last few days.

That’s important but it has to be sustained.''

Given that the Al Shifa doctors were the ones that buried the bodies there, I don't think they were "discovered".

were the ones that buried , the right verb forced to.

I can’t see how the other poster has posted posting deliberately misleading inflammatory comments., Also the link is from nov. This hospital had had a huge siege few weeks ago and many bodies have been found in the courtyard since idf left the hospital. So I can’t see how the other poster was posting deliberately misleading inflammatory comments.

Not the same bodies according to CNN, see bold & italics.

CNN

Health workers in northern Gaza exhumed the first corpses from mass graves in and around Al-Shifa Hospital on Tuesday, after they said Israeli forces killed hundreds of Palestinians and left their bodies to decompose during their two-week siege of the complex.

At least 381 bodies were recovered from the vicinity of the complex since Israeli forces withdrew on April 1, Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said on Tuesday, adding that the total figure did not include people buried within the grounds of the hospital.

Many of the decomposed remnants they discovered had been buried or were found above ground, officials told CNN on Monday. Israeli tanks crushed others to death, leaving some of those killed completely disfigured and unable to be identified, Basal said.

Witnesses and civilians who were trapped inside the hospital when it was raided say the vicinity “was full of bodies,” according to Basal. “The occupation forces have plowed these bodies and buried them in the ground,” he added.
“We are here to recover the remains of the bodies who are in the sand mounds that the Israeli occupation have plowed in a big pile,” Ahmad Alaiwa, a doctor at Al-Shifa, told CNN.
Some of the bodies were found lying under dirt or plastic sheeting, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a post on X on Tuesday. “Hospitals should never be militarized,” he said in a video message.
It came as staff from the World Health Organization and the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reached Al-Shifa Hospital earlier this month, according to a UN report. Israeli authorities had repeatedly denied humanitarian teams access to the complex, the UN said.
“Shifa has literally become a graveyard… There are bodies still in this courtyard,” Jonathan Whittall, a senior humanitarian affairs officer for OCHA, said in a video message posted on X, on Saturday.”

Yes lots of medical staff at al-Shifa in November 2023 [@1dayatatime ] the vast majority of whom were evacuated

Current photos of 'clean up' at al-Shifa show UN/WHO workers who may be doctors of some kind [@Molymoly ]

Despite two weeks having passed since the Israeli forces' withdrawal, Palestinians are still uncovering the bodies of civilians, including women and children, hidden under piles of sand and rubble by Israeli bulldozers in the area.
