I think I'm well aware of who Ismail Haniyeh is, thank you.
Please don't try to explain who my 'beef' should be with. All that does is show that you don't have a clear understanding of what's going on.
Hamas carried out a terrorist attack. There were several options open for how this could be responded to. This included options which could feasibly have led to the removal of Hamas from government of the Gaza Strip, removal of key individuals (from, well, life, because there is clear capability among relevant forces both from Israel and its military allies to carry out targeted operations), arrests and trials of people in relation to 7/10, release of hostages, and following the trails back to the individuals responsible for the planning/timing/etc. Instead, collective punishment of an oppressed and largely innocent population started within hours.
There was no need to destroy the Gaza Strip (again). There was no need to kill and maim tens of thousands of people, or to create a man-made famine, or to engage in acts so horrible that they're being investigated as war crimes and may meet the threshold for the legal definition of genocide.
So, actually, I think the Israeli government probably should contribute financially. You know, seeing as they were the ones who chose to destroy it in this way.
