Conflict in the Middle East

To find the silence about UNRWA being Hamas hypocritical

1000 replies

Muthaofcats · 28/01/2024 07:35

I entirely understand the discomfort seeing images coming out of Gaza; but what I don’t get is those who choose to post about it on social media or campaign expressing their horror but being totally SILENT after October 7th (before Israeli had even responded), after evidence of the sexual violence suffered by those murdered in Israel and now, after finding out that UNWRA who they have all been sending donations to, are actually Hamas who perpetrated the atrocities.

Where is the outrage from these people at UNRWA?

Why are none of these vocal people not screaming from the roof tops at how horrendous this is !?! If it was true you care about humanity, why aren’t you horrified to learn you’ve all been donating to an organisation so closely linked to the rape and murder of innocent civilians ? (And this isn’t the first time unrwa has been linked to Hamas; their HQ is a Hamas building and they’ve famously been linked to training terrorists in their schools / got into hot water for removing the hollocaust from their curriculum)

if you are one of those white privileged women who posts on social media about a cease fire (I’m talking to those of you who have never been to the ME, or studied ME history and never taken up the cause of any of the other global conflicts); why is your outrage so one sided and blinkered ? Why don’t you acknowledge the horrors of the Israeli/ Jewish people too ? If you’re really the virtuous person you purport to be by taking up this cause, why don’t you care ? Or do you believe what Hamas did and are doing and promising to keep doing (murder all Jews) is justified ?

Genuinely find it bewildering.

If Lucy letby and Harold shipman were part of an internationally funded terrorist org whose stated aim was to destroy the UK's neighbours and their citizens.and they were using it's facilities for that..yes, did we mention the teachers brainwashing children for jihad in schools?

You honestly think if they were a member of a terrorist organisation, we'd dismantle the NHS?

What planet are you on?

You know there likely are members of prescribed organisations within the NHS right? There are also rapists and paedophiles. Same for the police the army, teachers etc. There'll also be rapists and paedophiles within UNWRA. It's what happens when you have a large group of people. Vetting isnt perfect - it's not even that it sometimes fails, But if something keeps their activities under the radar enough, there's nothing to pick up.

Dont forget that (1) Israel have an annual list of UNWRS employees, (2) these can then be checked with Mossad who are the best of thr best (3) despite this, those individuals were not picked up on in advance. If they pass vetting by Mossad, then you cant expect UNWRA to do better.

Israel has been very clear about its desire to get rid of UNWRA before this. It feels like a very convenient excuse, and a way of again increasing the suffering of the Palestinian people.

quantumbutterfly · 09/02/2024 10:16

TBF it's falling apart on it's own.

quantumbutterfly · 09/02/2024 10:19

Also reassuring to hear you're not on the side of 'defund the police' .

Very good points. It is common sense that this would be the case yet some cannot see the reality of this.

So much talk of all of this 'evidence' but so little evidence of this 'evidence'.

Not sure who you perceive as the winners?

It’s clearly not the Palestinians and yet Israel’s reputation in the world has clearly been affected?

There are no winners but social media means the legacy media and governments cannot control the narrative and define who wins.

If there is anything positive from this situation- it will be need to push for a 2SS.

One of the worst aspects is that our western democracies won’t act to stop plausible genocide and indeed seem to fuel it.

Polka83 · 09/02/2024 12:36

Actually - I was unfair - some western democracies did vote for a ceasefire.

World on One on bbc radio 4 today

BBC reporting of horror of what Israel is doing!

Even reported on a video of IDF soldiers celebrating the demolition of a residential building.

Had a brief interview from a young girl - whose parents and 3yo brother died in recent bombing. Also interview with a dr from a hospital describing catastrophe they are facing in Rafah.

Excellent reporting.

stomachameleon · 09/02/2024 14:50

@ProfessorPipsqueak because it's not available for the masses? Does everything have to be? To be picked over for no reason.

I would say that the tide is turning... Finally.

There is an avalanche of evidence of the vile acts carried out by the Israeli force to be ignored anymore by mainstream news.

So much talk of all of this 'evidence' but so little evidence of this 'evidence'.

Indeed... it almost reminds me of the whole, "I have a list!" mess. (The claims of having an actual physical list of names which turned out to be anything but!)

I’d also say that people don’t want to be on the wrong side of history - and that now also holds for a national UK news broadcaster.
The situation in Rafah could be the final straw for people’s support for Israel’s response - despite 7/10.

Where I posted the comment correctly (in the right thread) I did post that it wasn’t my comment but from the place I had copied from

There is always a choice. Not to rape, murder, burn and take people hostage.

Yes, and that does indeed apply to everyone. Israel included.

Sorry don't know how to edit my post above.
So far he speaks about UNWRA schools at approx minute 8 and 25.

I think so, too. There has definitely been quite a shift in reporting tone
