Conflict in the Middle East

4 NICU babies left to die by Israeli forces

Some more in depth coverage of what happened to the four little babies in the NICU in Nasr Hospital and how they were left to die alone with nobody looking after them.

This is one of the most gruesome things I've ever heard and to be honest for the first day or so I didn't think it could be true. I didn't think even Israel could be this barbaric (though these aren't the first premature NICU babies they've killed in this conflict so I should probably not be so naive).

I can't understand how they can do this. And still they're supported by the UK and US.

Will this story appear on the televised news anywhere? I haven't seen it.

Warning: the descriptions in the article of the condition the bodies were found in are graphic.

I’ve seen so much propaganda coming from Hamas that I don’t accept anything they claim without proper care to verify it as truthful which it so often isn’t. In addition Isreal offered to take babies in hospital to a place of safety, Hamas declined. The suffering of the Palestinian people is one of Hamas’s greatest tools and we must never forget this.
This conflict is horrendous all round but I take great exception to the OP’s apparent bias. We should never forget the abject barbarism of Hamas on October 7th, amongst so much horror they brutally murdered , abused and took as hostages Jewish children, toddlers and babies.

It doesn't add up does it? And the footage I saw in ITN showed they were on adult beds not in cots as you would expect.

They were all forced to evacuate by the IDF.

A simple Google search will tell you that, but I suppose there’s no use in that because you have no interest in the truth.

It didn’t come from Hamas.

Two independent agencies have verified that the corpses of babies were found: the Red Cross and the Swiss agency Euro-Med.

This isn’t the first time in the past month that the IDF left NICU babies to die in Gaza. 3 babies in NICU died when the fuel ran out.

The IDF watched it happen and then offered a pathetic amount of fuel after babies already started dying - and that was with the world watching.

They must have thought they could get away with this one.

Bellsandthistle · 03/12/2023 23:42

Perhaps Hamas shouldn’t have made a hospital a military base.
But they did. For this very reason.

MSF reported it. IDF forced everyone to evacuate. Staff took all patients but couldn't move the babies as they were on Oxygen. IDF were asked to help the babies but apparently they didn't as their corpses were discovered.

So that makes it OK for the IDF to leave babies to die?

Bellsandthistle · 03/12/2023 23:50

Why didn’t Hamas transport them?

@OneHurtSpaggettio , Isreal has tried at every turn to minimise civilian casualties but this is war and war is terrible. I wish it were not so but we have what Hamas orchestrated, wanted. They have historically and recently repeatedly stated their desire to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. Hamas use the Palestinians as we might pawns in a chess game happy to sacrifice then for their ultimate aim.
The scenes from Gaza are dreadful, every innocent life lost or stained a tragedy. Isreal is not without fault of course but they have offered generous two state solutions which are always rejected.
We must never forget that all this would never have occurred if the Palestinians had accepted the two state peace offered to them and if Hamas had not on October 7th visited on the Israelis the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust.

Show me the evidence. Actual evidence. Not evidence cooked up by the Israeli govt and their far-right, convicted terrorist National Security Minister, Itame Ben Gvir, or their Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, who called the Palestinians “human animals.”

I’ll wait.

Oh please do stop with this shoulder-shrugging “war is terrible” nonsense.

Israel is a signatory to the Geneva Convention and has committed war crimes.

There is a huge push to have them finally convicted of their war crimes, which has been repeatedly blocked by the U.K. and U.S.

You have to be completely detached from reality to buy that Israel has tried to minimise civilian casualties. The death figures per day compared to any other modern war are absolutely shocking.

This is genocide.

The Likud party funded Hamas to take out the PLO because they do not want a two-State solution. It is deeply ingrained in their policy. Netanyahu even held up a map of “Israel” at the UN that included Palestinian territory - look at the date of the article:
https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/netanyahu-brandishes-map-of-israel-that-includes-west-bank-and-gaza-at-un-speech/

Do not try to school me with far-right propaganda. It won’t wash.

@OneHurtSpaggettio , I’m not trying to school you and I’m not far right! What I’m relating is truthful which is greatly different to what can be said for Hamas. I’m not an antisemite though. There seems to be a lot of antisemitic propaganda on Mumsnet sadly.

ZiriForGood · 04/12/2023 00:26

It is utterly disgusting that Hamas used premature babies as live shields for their infrastructure and than left them behind.

Both the “40 beheaded babies” and “babies in the oven” were proven to be false.

Google it.

WinterWarmth · 04/12/2023 00:31

From reading the NBC report linked to, the IDF has refuted this and claimed that they moved babies from Al Shifa hospital with Israeli incubators so it doesn’t make sense they’d knowingly leave sick babies to die in this hospital.

Is there any corroborated evidence from unbiased sources that the IDF deliberately LEFT these babies to die? It would have come out at some point (like it has now), why would they make themselves look even more terrible? What was there to gain?

These babies were abandoned by the hospital staff and I find it horrific that they would leave sick babies they were responsible for in a war zone getting themselves to safety and not even checking what had happened to them.

There must have been more than one volunteer looking after 5 babies? Where did all the other staff disappear to leaving one volunteer alone to look after them all?

Israel declared war over a month before they got to this hospital so it wasn’t as if they didn’t know it was coming! There are recordings of the IDF talking to the hospital director at the Al Shifa hospital asking what they needed to get patients out so it’s likely the same was done with this hospital.

As horrific as it is, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least that these babies were abandoned deliberately under order of Hamas to provoke further condemnation of Israel. These babies didn’t have parents with them, wouldn’t you stay by your baby’s side in hospital knowing war had been declared a full month before? If there was no one to claim them, well, who would care in their minds?

Absolute evil personified.

It must be remembered that Hamas and the other terrorist groups involved had no qualms about murdering babies and children on Oct 7th and actually celebrated it, as did civilians. They don’t give a shit about civilian deaths and actively want them hence the huge death toll in this conflict because they have a long history of using civilians as shields.

The journalist who ‘found them’ even said people had told him there was a big story in the hospital so others knew they were there. Why didn’t they at least cover them and give them some dignity? Ah, but that would have ruined the photo op.

Critical thinking is needed is this massive propaganda war started by Hamas of epic proportions and sadly most of the most vociferous posters on these threads don’t seem to have any.

You're tying yourself up in knots blaming the babies' parents, the medical staff and Hamas for this when all the articles and posts make it clear that the IDF did this.

I know it's horrific and hard to fathom but rather than blame everyone and anyone else, maybe have a think about the behaviour of the IDF and Israeli state and your support of them. They did this.

I know! I can't imagine leaving a premie all alone in those circumstances. Whether I were a parent or a nurse.
