The World Health Organisation put out a statement, that Gaza’s main hospital Al-Shifa is no longer functioning.

Concurrently, Israeli President Isaac Herzog put out a statement that “everything is operating” at the hospital.

Guess which one the BBC published?

At least the BBC eventually corrected themselves, although not until late this morning.

This is so depressing. I just can’t believe this is happening in 2023. So many defending that evil government including so many on mumsnet despite the evidence right in front of us. Makes me realise none of us are safe if this is what the so called civilised world is excusing. Thank you everyone for raising awareness. I do not underestimate the toll this takes.

I don't know why I've only just realised this today - but of course America are endorsing this genocide. They love genocide. They committed the mass genocide of millions of Indians and stole their land. They continue to kettle them in small 'settlement' areas and deny them the rights to their own land. America is owned by the Indians, white American will never give then their land back and so they encourage Israel to do the same.

The same with Canada - committing genocide right up to the present day. That doesn't make the news though does it. An estimated 150,000 Indian children murdered by the Canadian State right up to the state 1990's.

America and Canada endorse and benefit from genocide. It's how they stole the land in the first place.

They are bombing refugee camps in the West Bank now. More than 200 dead.

Yesterday on R4 Jeremy Bowen said the weapons shown as 'proof' of Hamas' command centre under Al-Shifa was "not credible. Everywhere you go in Middle East there are Kalashnekovs". He's now being slammed as a "Hamas apologist" 🙄.

I'd get hold of a few kalashnikovs and stick them in cupboards if my tiny piece of the world was being bombed by an insane government.

Collecting weapons in their situation is a completely normal thing to do.

Israeli's are just cunts. I don't support anything they are doing.

What, all of them?

What, all of them?

All of the one's which support this illegal attack on innocent civilians and do not demand it to stop immediately. All the one's that decided that taking a country from people that had lived there for thousands of years was 'ok' and decided to set up home there. All the one's that moved onto, encroached onto and stole by stealth, metre by metre, Palestinian land and pushed Palestinians aside. All the one's that treated Palestinians as second class citizens. All the one's staying silent whilst their government does this. All the one's that voted in any government which oppresses other people. All the one's that fight in, work for or support IDF.

That's probably quite a majority.

SomeCatFromJapan · 18/11/2023 15:58

You've certainly made your views clear. That'll be all adults then since military service is compulsory.

RubyRubyRubyRubay · 18/11/2023 16:05

There is such a things as not doing what your government tells you if you think it is morally wrong. Perhaps they are weak minded as well as psychotic.

SomeCatFromJapan · 18/11/2023 16:13

It gets you jailed or exiled. I have personal family experience of this from a different country.

Stomacharmeleon · 18/11/2023 17:26

@SomeCatFromJapan so do I. And sometimes having those morals Isn't worth the huge price to the people you love.

@RubyRubyRubyRubay that's such an awful thing to say and said from the comfort of your privilege.

RubyRubyRubyRubay · 18/11/2023 18:10

@SomeCatFromJapan So the option is to make a stand and be jailed or exiled, leave the country, or put your fingers in your ears and pretend its not happening for a quiet life. I know what I would do.

@Stomacharmeleon What exactly is an awful thing to say? Why are people not allowed to say what they think whether or not they are from a place of privilege? So people from countries that are not oppressive and volatile are not allowed to be disgusted at civilians not making a stand against their own, democratically voted in government?

I thought the West praised Israel for being a democracy - what you are both saying is that Israel is, in fact, a dictatorship with zero freedom of speech?

I do come from a country that is not currently at war and I feel extremely fortunate that it is highly unlikely I will ever have to experience war in person. That doesn't mean I can't be disgusted at the atrocities happening on every continent in the world. I can be disgusted at the genocide taking place. I can and I will stand will the people of Palestine whether my government allow it or not.

Another camp Nuseirat has been targeted today. Just seen a video and you can clearly see a poor child between the rumbles :(

Parkingt111 · 18/12/2023 11:28

There has been a horrific attack on the Jabalia camp in the last 24 hours
With up to 90 people reportedly killed

I haven’t posted on this thread in a while. The world is finally seeing Israel for what it is.

Journalist Gideon Levy, who is himself Israeli and one of its staunchest critics, writing for Haaretz this December: “Israel Is Fostering the Next Generation of Hatred Against Itself…Everywhere in the world people are seeing what the Israelis don't see and don't want to see. And what's even more terrible is this hatred will be justified. Nothing will be more justified."
