I don't know those quotes. I cant comment on what a couple of people may have said. If they were about hamas then we can all agree.

The death figures coming from gaza are from hamas who lie, so we really don't know how many have died.

Many of them would have been Hamas fighters, so far from innocents.

I blame Hamas for all civilian deaths in Garza because they started this war and use them as human shields.

You don't know know the quotes, @eardefender ? They weren't from "a couple of people". The "children of darkness" quote was from Netanyahu. And it was the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, who justified Israel cutting off the electricity, food, water and humanitarian aid from entering Gaza Strip because "those who live there are animals in the form of humans and we will deal with them as such". But I'm sure you think that's perfectly acceptable, since you have made it abundantly clear on this forum that you deny the very existence of the Palestinian people.

Good to see that you have no real point to your responses.

m*n to you as well.

You are wasting you time trying to have a intelligent conversation with whoever is Eardefender. You know the saying: changing the mind of a genius is difficult; changing the one of an idiot is impossible. I think it applies here.

Bobslug · 03/11/2023 19:02

Is anyone suggesting establishing a Jewish state in Iran, or Egypt, or Yemen? These countries expelled their Jewish populations in recent history (most of whom went to Israel). Seems odd that the anger about displaced populations doesn’t come up in this context.

crumblingschools · 03/11/2023 18:59

@eardefender can you explain why some Jews are protesting against the Israeli action in Gaza? I know what you think of non-Jews who are against it but what about Jews?

I think that poster has quite extreme opinions. Thankfully I know Israeli and Jewish people who have far more compassion towards Palestinian people than they have. I only associate with people who have the emotional intelligence to sympathise with victims on both sides.

Israel are targeting Hamas, Hamas use human shields, they have been open about this.
Why would i be Ok with someone using my child as a human shield, this makes no sense.
Israel is not bombing indiscriminately. they have told Civilians to flee
I blame Hamas for the gazan civilian deaths.

I am sorry of the above facts don't fit with your love of hamas and hatred of the you know whos....

I weep!

@SeeReality so if a murderer warns you before they murder you, your death is your own fault, not theirs?

The Palestinian people are not Hamas. The Israelis have taken the Palestinian land and kept them in an open prison in Gaza. An Israeli life isn’t worth more than a Palestinian and vice versa.

@SeeReality Sorry, what point were you making? Lots of absurd things have been said on this forum, it's hard to distinguish sarcasm from seriousness

anyone who doesn't realise Hamas use civilian shields is a willfully ignorant moron.

Let’s for a moment accept that Israel has concrete intelligence of there being a member of Hamas in a hospital, or a refugee camp, or a school, or an apartment block filled with kids (all of which they have bombed to ruins, blowing up and burning the kids inside), why do you feel that killing almost 4,000 children is justified?

What about if Hamas members had rooted themselves into Israeli schools, Israeli hospitals, Israeli refugee camps, Israeli apartment blocks filled with kids, and the death toll of Jewish children was now almost at 4,000 dead Jewish kids - what would you say?

Would you just say “oh how sad, they were using the Jewish kids and babies as human shields, but crack on”? Please do tell me.

This is what you’re saying regarding the Palestinians.

AhNowTed · 03/11/2023 20:05

@eardefender "they have told Civilians to flee"

Flee where?

Bobslug · 03/11/2023 21:32

Gaza isn’t an ‘open prison’. It is independently governed.

By a democratically elected government that has control over their own airspace and maritime waters?

With a blockade from land, air and sea

I can’t believe thinks there is a moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel. Hamas deliberately target civilians. Israel target military targets, though of course they are not always successful in avoiding civilians. But there is a clear and very important difference in aims. The long history is not really relevant in deciding what is morally right. Even if Israel have opposed Palestinians for decades, NOTHING justifies deliberately targeting civilians. Once a person or group does this they have lost their humanity completely.

If you think Israel isn't deliberately targeting civilians, and journalists and UN workers then you're naive at best.

Another poster saying stuff we all know is blatantly untrue.

Another poster with a brand new account in MN to support Israel. There are many coming up in the last few days and many of them don’t like sticking to the forum rules

(I’m referring about the poster you’re replying to btw)

ssd · 03/11/2023 22:29

I really wish mn could highlight if its new posters posting now.

Especially now.

Stomacharmeleon · 03/11/2023 22:40

We are allowed differences of opinion though. I have been on here a long time and I recognise lots of posters I disagree with: I wouldn't deny them a voice though.

This topic will attract bots. When I googled something unrelated earlier it brought up a thread from here on israel. It is noticed.

“Why is Israel bombing refugee camps in Gaza?”

Sept 2023: Netanyahu presented a map of what he called "The New Middle East"- without Palestine on the map at all- at the United Nations General Assembly.

The map showed the entire area as Israel: no West Bank, Gaza, or East Jerusalem. This was covered with raised eyebrows even in the mainstream press.

I cannot repeat this enough: the oil is in Gaza. The oil is in Gaza. The oil is in Gaza.

Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?
FOJN · 04/11/2023 08:18

eardefender · 03/11/2023 18:01

I disagree. Israel is a beacon of tolerance and democracy in the middle east. that is why so many countries support them.
Do you see a flood of Arab neighbours stepping in to fight for hamas or any other Iranian backed terror group against Israel. I wonder why.
Even Hezbollah are merely sabre rattling.

Israel has received little support for its actions at the UN, both in the SC and GA. The only reason the SC hasn't been able to pass a ceasefire resolution is because of the US veto. Many countries are pulling diplomats and condemning Israel's actions in Gaza.

I think your interpretation of the response from Arab/Muslim nations is incorrect. At the moment some of them look like the only grown ups in the room, Jordan/Saudi/Egypt for example. They understand the implications of escalation and are hoping for a political/diplomatic resolution. Make no mistake that if they lose patience it will not end well for Israel or possibly any of us. You are mistaken if you think Israeli/Palestinian peace is the only thing at stake here.
