@FOJN I thought the BBC's analysis of the ayatollahs speech was interesting. That he had threatened Israel but had basically said your on your own to hamas. Also at Great pains to say although they had sent rockets and tried to tie up Israeli forces, Hamas attacked on their own on October 7th without their help.

I realise that's just their analysis.

Palestinians in annexed East Jerusalem are granted permanent residence instead of citizenship – though this status is permanent in name only. Since 1967, more than 14,000 Palestinians have had their residency revoked at the discretion of the Ministry of the Interior, resulting in their forcible transfer outside the city.

That's because for Iran again its just politics
I highly doubt he cares greatly about innocent palestinians but rather how it can best suit his own agenda

I'm the sad sack that actually listened to all 90 minutes of it!

I thought his message was that Hamas had been very clever to accomplish what they had on their own and that secrecy had been key to the "success" of their mission.

There were documents found with some of the killed Hamas terrorists which some analysts claim bear all the hall marks of Iranian involvement but that just seemed a bit off to me. My best guess is that Hamas did carry out the Oct 7th attacks alone and the documents were a false flag to make Israel think they would also end up at war with Iran and to provoke a reaction which they thought would ensure Iran became involved. I doubt we will know the truth for a very long time.

It was interesting that the BBC mentioned US military assets in the med but failed to mention Russian and Chinese assets.

The Bureij refugee camp has just been attacked again - with more fatalities and injuries

I just watched wizard_bisan1's update from Gaza City. The situation there is dire. Remember Israel hasn't allowed 1 bit of aid to enter the northern half so 1.2million people there have nothing.

She says in the last 2 days Israeli forces have been targeting water, power and food infrastructure on the ground so there is no internet now, no food (no bread for 4 days) and they are drinking sea water.

On top of this the Israelis have sent out more of their ethnic cleansing flyers, advising 1.2million people in the northern two thirds of the Gaza strip to walk on foot to Khan Younis or Rafah in the south. Clearly impossible.

This is undeniably ethnic cleansing and genocide. Even the most brainwashed among you can't deny that. It is cruel, it is murder and it is supported by the UK government.

Stomacharmeleon · 05/11/2023 16:43

@Toothyfruity the American special envoy said there are around 300- 350,000 in the north. Not 1.2 million.

Parkingt111 · 05/11/2023 16:48

The US have also said they have seen no indication that hamas is stealing from the aid coming in
Yet they are still now allowing in fuel needed for life saving equipment to use in the hospitals
That's only of however many functioning hospitals left that haven't been struck

Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?

Well it depends on what you consider the north. The area they're telling to leave is roughly two thirds of the entire Gaza strip.

That's still a huge number of people
And where exactly are they supposed to go
I'm sure you can see how inhumane this is regardless of your stance or who you think is to blame
The south is still being bombed too
Just not as heavily as the North

Keep this message @Parkingt111 because there will be Israel suppprters saying no more aid enters Gaza because Hamas is intercepting it

Yes its repeated over and over again on every single thread as its a verified fact when it's nothing more than Israeli propaganda

@CatsArePawesome I did know a bit about this situation, but have not looked on Save the Children website about it. I think these children must be released, seen by doctors and the abuse allegations investigated. I can't imagine this treatment of children would be tolerated in most democracies, it would be seen as a violation of human rights and the rights of the child.

Unfortunately Israel make it very difficult to investigate the extent of human rights violations, particularly against children. NGOs and children's charities are often refused entry to Israel, and any evidence that is collated is confiscated/destroyed. False 'evidence' against individuals and/or organizations involved in HR reporting is often produced, with them being accused of having antisemitic intent. Israel are not going to be held accountable, and they know it 😢

Its terrible how little accountability Israel takes for any of its actions
Not only in this war but before it too

ketchup07070 · 05/11/2023 20:30

@feralunderclass It seems impossible to address any concerns about human rights violations.
Since the latest comms cut there has been heavy bombing around hospitals and also at a refugee camp in the designated safe zone. According to one resident the water tank was hit, which must be terrible when there is such a shortage of water. Cutting comms is becoming a regular feature.

Parkingt111 · 05/11/2023 20:36

Yes it makes my blood boil
From the Guardian

Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?
Stomacharmeleon · 05/11/2023 20:36

This is meant more as an observation but I am not entirely shocked that they are 'cutting comms'.
It's a war. And one that's being fought on the internet as well.

ketchup07070 · 05/11/2023 20:38

@Parkingt111 I'm following the Guardian live, now. Did you see they are now launching massive strikes?

It's heartbreaking
There's no other words I have for it

ketchup07070 · 05/11/2023 20:41

@Stomacharmeleon I did read a quote somewhere that it's very unusual and highly concerning to cut comms. I think because this is because no ambulances can be called and civilians can't access info re: aid, safe zones etc. It's probably more damaging to civilians than Hamas, as I imagine they are prepped for this and use alternatives.
