This was released yesterday but doesn't seem to have been given much coverage, possibly because it's not been able to draw any conclusions.

I had found the evidence presented by the IDF to be fairly convincing, so I found this an unsettling watch (even though it does not prove that they were responsible).

I expect I shall get criticism from those who have claimed from the start that the IDF are liars, and more criticism from those who see posting this as siding with the terrorist narrative.

I'm still struggling to fully comprehend the enormity and nuances of this conflict.

Luckily here in the West we are allowed to disagree. Israel has my support and has a right to exist. It is one Jewish nation. Muslims have loads of Muslim nations. It is very simple.

I also agree with this statement above

" Hamas are a terrorist organisation who gang rape women, behead babies, and mass slaughter their own people. YES they are evil.

Jesus fucking Christ we've got people who despise Jews so much they're willing to defend an actual literal terrorist organisations."

Heelenahandbasket · 22/10/2023 11:58

the channel 4 news report is ridiculous and as one sided anti Israel as their usual coverage. The recording is faked because of “syntax and accents” according to their “experts”? What on earth- that’s not enough to say a recording is faked- many people living in Gaza (especially terrorists) have lived in other places and don’t speak in the same way. PIJ annd hamas anre both sponsored by Iran. Equally Israel has a great many native speakers of Arabic who could make a convincing fake if they wanted.

Either way, we can see conclusively from the objective evidence including the small size of the crater, the lack of damage to the surrounding buildings and the many videos showing a rocket being fired from Gaza and exploding in the hospital car park that it was not an Israeli missile rather it was clearly a rocket from a terror group in Gaza. it also seems extremely unlikely that 500 people died.

what is shocking is that our mainstream news media reported that Israel bombed a hospital and 500 died on the day so of Hamas (who they misleadingly called the “Palestinian health authorities”). This caused actual violence on the ground and the cancellation of talks on peace. Yet still the bbc hasn’t even tried to provide an accurate report even though their own verification shows all the evidence backs up a Gaznan rocket (and bafflingly the come to the decision it’s “inconclusive”).

Your last paragraph shows the ramifications of poor reporting. Awful when you see what it leads to

Israel is an illegitimate colonial settlement. Its a military wing of the US with a flag. And its brand has been shot to pieces, by its own terrible actions, over the last few days. And everyone can see it.

Israelis are the indigenous people of this area

On the illegitimate part what are you proposing happen?

The biggest thing that has struck me in last week or so is how terrifying it must be to be next to a terrorist organisation who can attack with such barbarity and commit huge atrocities and that there are families are still hoping for hostages to come home

Up until October 7th I didn’t give much thought to Hamas. Now I see how awful it must be

I honestly can't fathom how posters like this can be for real. How awful it must be for the people that live beside the open air prison? It's a good job they are well on their way to wiping them all out then isn't it. That'll be that problem solved. Then you can rest easy.

I feel the same on those who gloss over the barbarity of Hamas

You’ve just responded to the real horrors endured as you did, rather than recognise that pain.

How can you be for real?

If you can watch the accounts of the Israeli families who were killed and this is your response, you have lost your humanity.

Gaza didn’t used to have such tight borders- this happened because of hamas violence. Hamas are a violent terror organisation akin to Isis. They care nothing for Palestinians lives and violently hate Israelis.

Israel have a very well funded military, hugely backed by the USA. If modern warfare technology can find Bin Laden in a cave, they can do a better job of isolating Hamas.
It is not ok to annihilate a population because of one group.

The point being that Hamas terrorists are not in a cave, they are intermingled amongst their human sacrifices in a densely populated urban area. Civilians dying to protect them is their strategy.

When the Soviet Union started using the Palestinians in their Cold War against Israel, they advised them to make their own people suffer. Up until then the Palestinians had campaigned on land that had once been ruled by Islam never falling into the hands of another religion, which didn't play well outside the Muslim world. The Soviets devoted huge resources to redirecting the Palestinian cause around human rights, which involved the Palestinian leaders ensuring that the lot of the Palestinian people never improved. This was bad enough under the PLO and the Palestinian Authority, but Hamas has the added element of the suicide bomber mentality of being prepared for everyone to die. (Well, everyone except their own billionaire leaders living in Qatar.).

I'm not the one here talking about how the 'biggest thing that has struck me' in a week where 1 child has been killed every 15mins being how awful it must be to live beside them. Watching the dead bodies of children piling up, children screaming for their dead mums and sitting there thinking 'gosh, how terrible to live beside that'. But yeah.

Yes I have absolute sorrow for those families and the people who faced Hamas barbarity.

No amount of mn squaring up from posters in for a scrap will change that.

Teentaxidriver · 22/10/2023 12:22

Bookshipper - are you asking that question in good faith (as in you don’t know the answer)? Perhaps you need to do a bit of research yourself into the Tehran regime.

ketchup07070 · 22/10/2023 12:23

I'm very grateful to all journalists reporting. It's enormously stressful and traumatic for them, and even dangerous as several have been killed already. I believe BBC and C4 (which is all I watch) maintain neutrality while also presenting balanced, thorough reporting. There will be conflicting evidence and stories - it's a war. I think people would be more upset if there was no journalism, or just out and out state propaganda, as some countries have.

EsmaCannonball · 22/10/2023 12:25

A policed border does not equal an open air prison. Many of the foreign and dual nationals now trying to get out of Gaza were visiting family, some describing it as a 'family holiday.' People don't go on holiday to an open air prison. All the issues over blockades and airspace are purely due to Gaza being run by homicidal maniacs who've turned the entire territory into the base of operations for jihad.

Those poor hostages and families

The barbarity and atrocities committed. I know posters would rather block it out in a rather troubling way but it happened.

To counter that emoji I’ll say I feel sorrow for their pain

Visiting family is hardly a holiday on resort! Oh and just to be clear the reason they have to visit is because the others are unable to leave. 😵‍💫

Yup. You've made your stance clear.Your biggest concern is how awful it is for Israelis to live beside that open air prison of their own creation where they are killing 1 child every 15mins. We get it.

And I get how my sorrow for families who suffered barbaric atrocities and still held hostage made you react.

@Gruntsandgroans agreed. Who bombs two churches and two mosques in two days in 'self-defense?'

@Bookshipper if Israel is in your view an illegitimate colonial settlement.

What do you want to happen?

Bookshipper · 22/10/2023 13:23

Even though we can't do anything to materially change the plight of the people in Gaza or the West Bank, we can still talk about it.

Once someone learns about the realities of the Palestinian people, they very seldom abandon their support for it, so every newly-opened pair of eyes stays open on this issue for a lifetime.

Bookshipper · 22/10/2023 13:25

Keep talking, keep sharing the videos coming out of Palestine.

There isnt anything an Israel apologist can say that will have more impact than raw video footage of an Israeli settler telling a Palestinian family that he stole their home because 'If I don't steal it, someone else is gonna steal it.'

Xenia · 22/10/2023 13:27

I am pro Israel. I am grateful to everyone on both sides for discussions on this thread. The only way to achieve peace is to hear other people's views and hopefully change them.

We must all keep talking including about the murderous Hamas terrorists, a banned organisation in the UK by the way. Israel is a democracy and beacon of freedom in the Middle East an area with some of the worst regimes for human rights on the planet from Iran to Saudi.
