This was released yesterday but doesn't seem to have been given much coverage, possibly because it's not been able to draw any conclusions.

I had found the evidence presented by the IDF to be fairly convincing, so I found this an unsettling watch (even though it does not prove that they were responsible).

I expect I shall get criticism from those who have claimed from the start that the IDF are liars, and more criticism from those who see posting this as siding with the terrorist narrative.

I'm still struggling to fully comprehend the enormity and nuances of this conflict.

Why? What happened in Israel isn't being ignored no matter what that poster says. The US are funneling money into Israel. They've sent war ships as have the UK. How many leaders have gone over there to hug the Israeli pm? Its not being ignored at all. Israel have gotten the green light to blow the shit out of 2.2million people while starving them.

People questioning whether it happened? That's happening the other way around too. People are making excuses for Israels massacre. People are making fun of Palestinians being blown to pieces. All the rest that she mentioned is going both ways.

It's awful that people exist that will do the above but that's just the way the world is but it isn't running one way only like that poster is claiming.

Why?

For the reasons @ayegazumba put.

But surely the most important thing is that the world isn't ignoring Israel. They are being given billions and billions. They have the US, the UK and France on their side. They've been given the green light to do whatever they like to Palestinians. No one is ignoring what happened in Israel. The whole world is watching Gaza reap the consequences at least they are until Israel find the rest of the journalists/photographers and murder then too. I don't think it is helpful for anyone to lie about what is happening and pretend that Hamas committed a massacre and the world forgot about it. Do you?

I have found the minimising posts on here around October 7th deeply troubling

I’m not the only one.

You agree that it is important we don't lie about what is happening though?

Sure. I haven’t said otherwise anywhere.

Sure. I haven’t said otherwise anywhere.

Thats good. I was just repeating the question that you swerved. I think its really troubling that someone would say that what happened to the Israelis is being ignored when 1000s of people are being killed for it, 10s of 1000s are being injured for it, 100s of 100000s are being displaced for it.

I don’t want posts minimising the horror. I’ll always respond to it if I see it.

I find it unconscionable and in some cases depraved.

I understand you are suffering and I hear you on that. I do. It’s also hard to deal with for most.

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 18:32

I’ll add I’m sorry about it all. It’s so hard

ayegazumba · 27/10/2023 12:56

The minimising and victim blaming is sickening and I've just read it here in black and white again. @Gruntsandgroans your only response to my post was 'but what about' and 'it's happening on the other side too. Minimising. @WildBactrian did I really just read from you that those babies, children, teenagers, holocaust survivors deserved what happened? Because that's what you said right? That Hamas were backed into a corner so what did those people expect? You literally just approved the slaughter of those poor innocent people in their homes. burned alive, dismembered and god knows what else. You should be ashamed of yourself I am in complete shock at what I'm Reading here I don't even know what to say.

WildBactrian · 27/10/2023 17:13

That is not what I said and you know it.

Iwasafool · 27/10/2023 18:20

WildBactrian · 27/10/2023 17:13

It wasn't what you said. I think it devalues the argument when posters have to twist what you say to support what they think.

ayegazumba · 28/10/2023 13:18

I just went back to find what you said and lo and behold it was removed. Seems Mumsnet moderators read exactly what you said as well. Absolutely abhorrent

WildBactrian · 28/10/2023 19:09

Simply put, "Do as I say, don't do as I do," is not a message that the world's oppressed are going to continue to follow indefinitely. There cannot be one rule for us, another for you. That mentality does not lead to peace.

Indeed.

He seems great at getting his people to share and reshare his message and they blindly do it.

I can't speak on anyone's behalf, but I think most people could deduce that Hamas want to get rid of them not because they are Jews per se but because the occupiers of their homes happen to be Jewish. I think if they wanted to kill all Jews worldwide there would be 'cells' targeting and killing them. There are a lot of very angry people regarding the situation.
I was at a trade union meeting tonight and got talking to a woman in her 50s who grew up in NI. She was saying that her friend visited Israel on a day trip and witnessed an Israeli soldier hitting a Palestinian child of about 7 or 8 with the butt of his gun, and then laughing about it. She said if she witnessed something like that she'd be in jail for murder. She grew up being abused by British soldiers and like many Irish people feel very strongly about the occupation and human rights violations.

The stated aim of Hamas is to kill Jewish people. Please don't twist yourself in knots trying to defend the terrorist scum and pretend they're not motivated by anti-Semitism.

Xenia · 31/10/2023 20:03

It has never been an easy issue as to which deaths are worse than others eg not that many died in 9/11 compared say to those who die on the roads or hutus killing tutsis in Africa but clearly it was important because it was in NY and it was islamic terrorists etc. I don't think these things are a numbers issue. Hamas terrorists invaded Israel. I support Israel.

XRAYTHIS · 01/12/2023 07:35

A report released 26th November with regard to hospital which was widely claimed to have been bombed by Israel.

Looks like a hamas mistake, although they removed all pieces of missile and took away as can be seen in the report and never seen again. There were many at the time claiming it was Israel without waiting to find out.
