Good afternoon ladies!

Though I've not been posting all week, I have been reading what's been happening, and it seems we've all been very busy!

Think I have cleared my head following my meltdown on Tuesday. Trying not to symptom spot but waiting for AF to arrive in the next few days, it's difficult.

Been having cramps all week and backache, and every time I go to the loo I'm conviced AF's arrived, but nothing (TMI! sorry ) I usually only have cramps just as she arrives.

Trying to convince myself it's still the old body adjusting it's cycle and nothing more...

Have a good weekend everyone! If I don't post, I will be watching what's going on! XXX

claire196 · 16/04/2010 15:23

Hi everyone, I'm new to all this baby making, symptom spotting mania (and loving it!). Just wondering - what's the grapefruit juice all about?

pipsicles · 16/04/2010 15:26

Pinkie, my cycle went a little haywire last month - kept testing, but no AF. I was utterly convinced I was pg, but then she eventually came. Every day felt like a week that I was waiting, especially as I had been regular up until that point. I found it really depressing and struggled to cope, so I totally hear where you're coming from. I was all ready to book an appointment to go to the doctor's, but my mum reckoned it wasn't worth it, especially as we haven't actually been trying/off the pill that long. Maybe give it a little bit longer before you start panicking?!

Halo glad we have another grapefruiter on here! I do actually quite like it and always have done. It's especially good if you need waking up in the morning, but the sugar is a good idea if you're not quite up for it neat!

CaveMum · 16/04/2010 15:27

'waves' to claire196 - Welcome!

As I understand it, there is something in grapefruit juice that can increase the amount of sperm-friendly EWCM ('egg-white' cervical mucus) that you produce.

MrsWajs · 16/04/2010 16:09

I am now seriously planning on selling the story of my life to the BBC so perhaps they could write it into an Eastenders storline because surely no-one has this much bad luck in real life!!!

DP got made redundant this morning!

Why the bloody hell is life co complicated

CaveMum · 16/04/2010 16:44

MrsWajs really sorry to hear that.

Hoping things look up for you soon (((hugs)))

PinkiePoo · 16/04/2010 18:47

mrswajs i am so sorry to hear that.Suddenly my rants today seem very trivial in comparison. I really hope as a silver lining he gets a nice pay out and finds something else double quick. The same happened to my friend recently, and she was lucky to find something fairly quick, so hopefully the same happens to you.

pip thank you, made me feel a bit better. I have felt so glum all day. I had this tiny feeling that maybe i OV late and maybe preggo, but alas it was a no, then felt like i must have something wrong with me....grrrrr!!! So disheartning. and my poor OH gets it everytime like its his fault. Poor guy. pretty soon he will say he does want to ttc anymore because of the stress, i can see it now

right snap out of it pinkie!!!!!

wannamummy · 16/04/2010 19:02

pinkiepoo i can relate with exactly what you're going through with DH. Poor soul has had me at his throat all week and to be honest I wish AF would hurry up so I can get the disappointment over and done with for another month

Ariesgirl · 16/04/2010 19:19

God Wajs, I'm so sorry. Is there anything else that can go wrong for you? No, best not ask. What Poo said - I hope he finds something else nice and quick and gets a payout.

Dinkytinky · 16/04/2010 20:54

mrswajs you poor thing, so sorry to hear about your dp, that's really really shit. Life can have a sick sense of humour sometimes, I really truly hope that everything can only improve for you both after all this hassle you've been going through.we're here for you any time.

Crappy AF came bang on time last night- my ucl now seems to be 27 and 1/2- always appears at 8pm the day before 28. I'm sorry this is memememe but I'm so fed up frolickers, this house business is doug my head in- flipping MiL has stuck her big fat oar in-she's even started booking viewings and phoning up estate agents!!!!!!!!!!! And now DP is insisting that SHE has to come view houses with us, he's such a effing mummys boy sometimes. And she is just a meddlig interfering pain in the arse. It is SUCH a turn off!

And! I'm sure you'll all agree with me that it is a JOKE that pg symptoms and AF symptoms are so bloody similar- in fct this months AF signs are completely different to last month!!! I'm fed up.
sorry againfor being such a grumpy cow.

Calyx · 16/04/2010 21:55

Hi all, still lurking on the iPhone and feeling for you mrswajs and I hope it's a case of one door closing before another (better) one opens.

Good luck to all 2ww-ers, I don't think i'm ovulating this month although I had 2 days EWCM because my temps are looooow (last few days 35.8, usually about 36.2 for the person who asked about usual temps).

Hugs and good vibes everyone and hello new people!

MrsWajs · 16/04/2010 22:46

Thanks girls

To be honest this morning I was pretty gutted - more cus I was freaking about paying rent/our up-coming holiday etc etc but actually now, I kinda feel ok about it! My motto has always been 'no point in crying til the milk is spillt' and ok it's fair to say this is a pretty major issue but at the moment we are not homeless, we have food in our cupboards and we have each other! So got my 'get on with it' head on now and just gonna work out how we're gonna get past this shitty patch!!
Like to think another cliched saying is pretty true - what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!! I'm surely the worlds strongest woman now??

Sorry for AF dinky what a bloody pisser, but at least it's here on time so you know where you are for trying again next month!

Pinkie I'm totally feeling your pain re: looooong cycle, you're going through all the things in your head that I did and my DP also bore the brunt of it! I know it's the worst feeling ever but you will get through it! I know it's easy to say but try not to stress to much about it as you may just delay AF even more.

I'm so determined not to have a delayed ov this month that I feel like sticking my head in the sand until all this redundancy/ex-partner crap just goes away! Sadly not possible

Interesting Calyx I didn't realise if your temps were low you maybe weren't ovulating?? Will maybe need to research the temp thing in a bit more detail! Fingers crossed for you that you are though. I definately haven't ov'd yet so no 2ww yet! Don't see grapefruit juice making any difference yet but maybe it's cus I need to drink more than half a glass!?

MrsWajs · 16/04/2010 22:51

Eh....how many times did I want to say the word 'yet' in those last 2 sentences!! Should maybe preview posts more often!

Anyway forgot to say hi to new claire!

You'll need to give us your stats my dear so we can add you to the list.....

What cycle you are on, your usual cycle length and your cycle day

Kaloki · 17/04/2010 08:24

Hey everyone, thought I'd pop in again. Sorry to hear the bad news MrsWajs surely you are due some good luck about now?

I've just been back and worked out my CD, looks like I'm on about day 21. Had serious amounts of EWCM this morning, but also what looked like a tiny bit of blood (brown coloured) and I feel sick. We have been SWI, so maybe. However, I've still been feeling weird, and the doctor sent me for a blood test a few days ago, and what fun that was!

Apparently there's an acupuncture point on the inside of your elbow that makes you nauseous, and of course the nurse tried to draw blood there, I went faint, pale and threw up. They got my blood in the end though and are testing me for Coeliacs etc. I'll be so annoyed if it is Coeliacs

felicity Sorry I didn't say hello yesterday. I can't believe this volcanic ash, its crazy! The news doesnt't look too good about the airports but hopefully they won't be with you much longer. I know what you mean about a date you were looking forward to being changed last minute, so rant away! 2 interviews in one day? What sort of jobs are they for? Will you be able to make both? Good luck, and use them as an excuse to lock yourself away for a little while to catch up on MN research.

pinkie I think 45 days is a bit long and maybe is a sign you didn't ovulate? If long cycles keep happening maybe visit the docs anyway. If its just a one off it's possible stress delayed ovulation which would in turn delay AF. Anything happen during this cycle that could have stressed you out more than normal?

dinky So sorry about AF, I've updated your stats with your UCL so far. (You reckon today is CD2 if AF started in the evening? I wasn't sure but have put you on day 2, let us know if it needs changing.) I hope lucky cycle 3 is your cycle & you feel better in a few days.
Pamper yourself over the weekend & do things just for you. What a nightmare about MIL! I know all about mummys boys so you have my sympathy. Don 't worry about being grumpy, totally understandable.

MrsWajs Sorry about DP's job and echo what others have said about doors opening. Glad you seem positive about it.

calyx It was me that asked about temps. Sorry to hear yours are staying low. Maybe EWCM will reappear & then temps will rise? I hope so anyway.

claire I hate that TTC means that you have to SWI at a set time, I am the same that if I don't feel like it I can't make myself get in the mood. When is your next trade fayre? This weekend? Good luck with it whenever it is.

Big wave to bellaby! Did your AF arrive as expected?

chalky how are things with you? I notice you have reached CD33?

kaloki I heard that a small amount of bleeding is a good sign of ovulation so EWCM & nausea as well can surely only mean one thing! Good luck with the results of the tests, at least if you know what it is you are take steps to feel better.

I've got up way too early considering that my friend I'm visiting will be taking me out til 2-3am tomorrow morning. I'm going back to bed for a bit, then have a exciting morning packing and buying grapefruit juice. I'm off to my friends at 1pm so I hope everyone has a good weekend. I might be absent from posting tomorrow but will be lurking in case of BFPs!

Ariesgirl · 17/04/2010 09:47

Does anyone else rely totally on conscientious stats-and-list-makers to let them know what day they're on? I was convinced this morning I was on day 12, but apparently I'm not. So thanks Haloflo!

Just had a great session in the sack at last. Oh sorry, I vowed I would stop the lack of sex life updates!

Morning everyone. Apparently we're going to be hotter than the Costas this weekend. Who needs abroad? Volcanic ash, schmolcanic ash!

claireinthecommunity · 17/04/2010 10:22

Morning all, we're up and about early - working today and tomorrow.

Yes haloflo the trade fayre is this weekend, tomorrow actually - thanks for updating the list again. Hope you have a really good night out with your friend tonight

Good to hear from you Kaloki, hope the bloods come back clear for you, and this tiny bit of spotting blood is a good sign

Airies, yeah I had a similar thing in the week and thought I was a day different than I actually was Glad to hear of your great session

I better go and get on with things, have a good weekend all.

Oh, hello to the other claire

claire196 · 17/04/2010 10:30

Hi guys, let's give this a go..
TTC#1 cycle2 UCL 25-28 CD1
I hope that's right - AF arrived this morning. Delving into the world of baby-making has made me wonder whether the spotting I get for up to a week before AF arrives could actually be a problem. Especially combined with a short cycle. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Ariesgirl · 17/04/2010 10:31

How short Claire? If you don't mind me asking?

claire196 · 17/04/2010 10:39

Well they got really short (21 days) last year but I was living in a remote part of Africa..so I put that down to strange diet or whatever. Now they've got a little longer, this month was 25 days.
Thanks Aries.

Ariesgirl · 17/04/2010 11:04

Now I am NOT A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER. So take any advice from me with a pinch of salt. This is what I have HEARD! That you should have a concern if your cycles are less than 25 days but the main thing to be aware of is the length of your luteal phase i.e. the number of days between ovulation and AF starting. Anything less that 10 days is a potential problem, but not necessarily. The first part of the cycle doesn't matter as much. The week of spotting could be a small problem as it may indicate low progesterone. However I think this is a relatively easy problem to fix. I have always spotted about 3-4 days before my period, but my cycles are 28-32 days long (before I started taking notice I always thought I was regular as clockwork, but now I learn not!) I have been taking Agnus Castus and 50mg of Vitamin B complex during the first half of my cycle for the last three months and the spotting is now down to just the evening before. Obviously I don't know if there's a direct correlation, but it would be a bit of a coincidence. And then there are all sorts of things like progesterone supps. Of course, if you are at all concerned, go and have a chat with a nice, sympathetic doc, not one of those who rolls their eyes at the merest mention of women's things and tells you to come back after 10 years of trying if you haven't conceived and he may think then about helping you!

If you start by finding out when you ov and then count the days until your first day of proper flow, that will be a start.

Hark at Aries going on like an old-timer expert!

claire196 · 17/04/2010 13:00

Thanks Aries, that's a big help.
I had no idea this world of conception craziness existed. I'm only about to embark on my second ever attempt at this so hopefully there's nothing to worry about. Especially once my body realises it's no longer on the African rain forest. Here's to an afternoon googling the ins and outs of charting! I'm actually excited at the prospect - what a geek.

Bellaby · 17/04/2010 13:16

Hello All.

Just a quick one from me as on the iPhone from the train as I get train to London for a wedding.

Hello to newclaire mrswajs - sorry to hear about your bad luck. Hope things start to look up soon

Aries glad you managed to get in some action!

haloflo enjoy your night out!

felicity - poor you. Perhaps you could persuade them to book a flight to Paris instead. Hope that your DH is going to be very grateful to you for having the patience of saint!

claire- good luck with the trade fayre - is this related to your music?

dinky - your househunting sounds very painful. I would never want my MIL interfering in that. She went on for ages about how we had to buy a house as houses always go up in value!!! I do however always like to get my Mums opinions on those sort of things as she has a good eye for houses. She told us not to buy our current house but we went ahead anyway. She was probably right on reflection - our house is a massive renovation project that seems to eat money

big Wave to everyone else (am getting annoyed with trying to type on this phone)

have a lovely day all xxx

No signof AF for me. POAS on Tues just to confirm that I would be able to drink when I was out this week. Was negative as expected but quite happy as things so busy at the moment and lots of work related drinks

felicityFlick · 17/04/2010 16:44

Just checking in. The PILs still here- they have been told that this first available flight is the 7th May. I refuse to believe this can be true. I cannot last that long

I will catch up with you all tomorrow. Have a great day xxxx

PinkiePoo · 17/04/2010 19:33

Evening all....

What a beautiful day ! I am little sunburnt but me and the OH had a little barbie today and to make up for what has been a shit week on the lack of BFP/AF i have had 4 glasses of Pinot, what the hell!!!

Still no sign and yes halo this is my longest cycle by far. They have been from 39, 28,34 and now on 44, yet still no sign.

Very frustrating.....i have not been really that stressed at all, so maybe no ovulation?? I just want to get SWI again!!!!!!!
