The list, my friends, is mostly bollocks. Stick with common sense and we'll be fine.

claireinthecommunity · 12/03/2010 11:32

Zippy and evilgiraffe, sorry to hear your news

Zippy, I totally get what you mean over reaching double figures, I'm currently on cycle 10 and it has put me in a different frame of mind for sure. I've begun to think that I may be one of those women that it doesn't happen naturally for, even researching local fertility clinics. We (DH and I) haven't managed much SWI this month, and it's because of me really, I suppose I've lost interest if it's not going to do anything anyway. Sorry this is coming out all doom and gloom. In the back of my mind I'm also thinking that we only need one little swimmer, and it will be sods law that the month we have very little sex, will be the month I fall PG [hopeful emoticon] (you see I do still have some hope).

Thankyou for the new thread Kaloki and I hope you find the CAB as helpful as I have in the past.

CaveMum · 12/03/2010 13:50

bunnygirl I'd love to be TTC this year! I turn 30 next year and always "thought" I'd have a little one by that age.
We have other issues to deal with too - DH is in the RAF and is due to go overseas sometime in the next year, most likely to Afghanistan. I don't want to be pregnant/giving birth while he is away, partly so he doesn't miss out on anything and partly coz I'm terrified of doing it all on my own!

Thanks for all the advice, I see your point about trying to be sensible!

I can be a bit of a control freak paranoid at times, so am just going to remember to take lots of deep breaths!

It doesn't help that a lady in our office is 6 months pregnant with her first child and I'm sure she's caught me looking jealously at her bump!

Really sorry to hear that calligraphy. I hope things sort themselves out soon.

bunnygirl80 · 12/03/2010 21:32

Thanks for all the congrats - I don't think it's sunk in yet

claire sorry you're feeling down about being in double figures. Maybe you could think about looking into some testing - merely having some blood taken for investigations seems to have had a massive success rate on this thread As for less SWI - I dropped my regimented every other day approach and we did it when we felt like it and it seems to have done the trick. And it was much more enjoyable as well

calligraphy sorry your DH is being baby shy at the moment. I just don't think men get such a strong urge to have a baby as we do and they find it hard to muster up much enthusiasm some times.

cavemum how long will your DH be away for? It must be really hard for you both when he has to go away for long periods. My cousin's DH is in the army and he went to Afghanistan while she was pregnant and I know she found it really hard being on her own. At least you can get to work obeying all of the rules on Aries list

So I finally got to tell DH about my BFP last night. I wrapped one of my many tests the test in nice wrapping paper and gave it to him when he got home. He unwrapped it, looked at it like this , then asked if it was my test. Told him yes, and his face went (the colours not the emotions)! Then he asked how it had happened - not sure what kind of sex ed that had at his school but clearly they missed out some important stuff!!

After I explained how babies are made, he said that he hadn't thought our baby-making attempts would actually work cos he's always abusing his swimmers by drinking too much and boiling them with his laptop.

After some more mild hyperventilation, he did say that he was happy, but the poor thing still seems pretty shell shocked. He did put his ear to my tummy to see if he could hear anybody in there! Then he realised that my boobs will probably grow and walked around like this for the rest of the night!

cherrycobbler · 12/03/2010 21:43

hello all, please can I join? have just started TTC and had resolved to be very chilled out about it ... chilled out plan is not going so well...

My stats are cherrycobbler TTC#1 cycle 2 UCL32 CD15 - not sure how to add to the list (sorry being bit gormless!)

Congrats on all the BFP and sorry to hear about the BFN - hope you are able to spoil yourselves with a nice glass of wine and a restful weekend.

Calligraphy, also sorry to hear you're having a bit of a frustrating time, hopefully you'll feel better/ OH will see the light v soon.

cherrycobbler · 12/03/2010 21:55

bunnygirl I just read your post and your description of DH made me laugh out loud! Fab news, and fab that you've finally got to tell him

kurlyvoice · 12/03/2010 22:08

How quickly we Frolickers do get through the pages - and the threads! But lovely and fresh this looks, ready for more BFPs...

Sorry that your DH has "the fear" but as he has agreed to it before, you might be able to make yourself feel better with the knowledge that he will come round. Not that anything like that really helps when one is a CrazyBabyLady, of course

And much virtual chocolate and hugs being sent across the net to zippys and evilgiraffe.

How did it go with the CAB today, kaloki? I hope you gave them a right kick up the proverbial and that all they can say is "yes ma'am". Otherwise I will come and use my I-am-not-amused-teacher-voice with you!

Welcome to cherrycobbler - tell us a bit about yourself! Suffice to say that this is the BEST thread (or set of threads, I suppose I should say) on MN and you will love it.

bunny, I LOL at your DH story, at which point MY DH asked what the matter was so I had to recount the boob-realisation part. He was very good at not saying how much he is looking forward to the same happening to me, even though we both know that he's thinking it!

Well, I'm feeling very sick at the moment but it is entirely self-induced so I expect little sympathy! I have given into herbal old wives tales and am trying the parsley tea method to bring on AF. But it is UTTERLY DISGUSTING and I have only managed one cup so far, so not sure how well I will do. Really need a get a stonky cold for this sort of action so that my sense of taste/smell goes. Better go and make my way through the rest of the pot.

maamalady · 12/03/2010 22:09

Love the facial colours, bunny!

Still no change here - now on day 42 of AF-watch. I am getting rather bored waiting for AF to show up... I have been feeling queasy for a few days as well, so that's hardly helping my frame of mind - even though I've had three BFNs I still can't help but think it might be morning sickness, idiot woman Ah well. Maybe AF will turn up tomorrow!

Welcome to our newcomers as well!

CaveMum · 12/03/2010 22:11

bunnygirl DH is only supposed to go away for 4 months at a time, but last time he went away to the Falklands in 2007 he ended up being their for 7 months!

The joys of being a military wife!

cherrycobbler · 12/03/2010 22:28

Thanks for the welcome!

Parsley tea - I am impressed by your commitment to bringing on AF! My mum (who grew up in a tropical country) always used to give me unripe pineapple to bring on my AF (I hasten to add that this was not because I was TTC when a child or involving my mum in my cycles, but when I would complain that my AF timing would spoil family beach holiday etc!). I don't really think it worked to be honest but maybe worth a try. Word of warning though - don't eat it if you think you may be pg - friend at work has been told not to eat it during her pregnancy.

Have had a horrid cold and DH has also not been very well (man flu but he soldiered through it very bravely... ) so there's been scarce SWI this month. Hopefully a lovely relaxed weekend will do us good.

Off to bed with a mug of hot lemsip and some Vicks chest rub - who said romance was dead?!

Night all xx

Bellaby · 12/03/2010 22:30

Bunny - I loved your story about telling DH - made me laugh so much.

Welcome Cherrycobbler - we wish you a short and pleasant stay!

Claire - don't feel too down about double figures. 10 is my lucky number so hopefully it will be yours as well!

Cavemum - I'm with you on the control freak thing but am just starting to accept that this is one thing I will have only limited control over (timing, symptoms, birth).

evilgiraffe -sorry to hear you are still waiting for something... fingers crossed you find out one way or the other soon.

Calligraphy - special hugs going your way

Kurlyvoice - parsley tea sounds utterly disgusting!

Looks like AF is going to be short & sweet for me this month but maybe that's just because it's the first proper one after coming off the pill. Will see what the new Clearblue digital ov monitor tells me - think it starts getting data readings from Day 6 onwards.

Have a great weekend everyone

Ariesgirl · 12/03/2010 22:48

cherrycobbler pineapple can apparantly help bring on uterine contractions - so should be avoided during pg until you want the baby out and then eaten in vast quantities My friend swears it got her into labour with both of her babies - she was eating at least one whole pineapple a day though!

Glad DH's reaction has amused everyone - I have to admit I had to try not to laugh at the poor boy. I really think he just thought of TTC as a way to get extra sex and forgot that there would eventually be a baby at the end of it. And he has already inspected my boobs today to see if they've grown

FelicityFlick · 13/03/2010 02:23

Morning All,

Just a quicky from me. Picked up my best friend from the airport yesterday and she is sleeping soundly whilst I sneak on MN!

bunny - so funny! I am sure my dh will be the same. I ordered 5 bottles of Fertilaid for men from the US which have just arrived this morning. He is not too thrilled to have to take 3 tablets a day with food but bless him he just rolled his eyes and has taken the first one with his Brekkie! I think they really do need a crazy baby men thread to moan about the things their wives and girlfriends make them do!

kurly- good efforts on the tea. If I had known about that when I was waiting for af I would have been on it too! In fact I am slightly disappointed that there is an old wives tale about ttc that I have missed! I can't wait for the day when I log on and see that af has arrived for you- I will cheer because I remember how thrilled I was! I also am stopping myself buying a Clearblue fertility monitior. I want one NOW which is totally irrational because we are not even TTC and have not had a good crack at it yet either! I have told myself that if I am not pregnant by Christmas (starting to ttc again in June) I will treat myself to one for Christmas

Bellaby- sports day actually went ok. Thanks for asking. Although it was a bit cold and foggy standing outside all day but much better than I expected!

Sorry about bfn's evil and zippys. Please keep us posted with your scan results zippys even if you are taking a break from us as we will be thinking about you.

calligraphy- sorry to hear your dh is being a little shy. He will come round. I know how frustrated you must be. What has made me feel better about putting it off is doing things to make myself feel in top ttc condition like charting my cycles so I could identify patterns etc and taking viatmins to get ready. I have also been focusing on loosing a stubborn half a stone which has crept on since my wedding and have applied for a promotion at work. I am still baby crazy (see above!) but focusing on other things has chilled me out a lot!

Cavemum- my best friend's husband is a military man so know how tough it is when they are away. We'll look after you here when he is away.

Hope CAB went well kaloki

Fingers crossed for lucky cycle 10 claire

Welcome to cherrycobbler

Have a great weekend all xxxxxx

FelicityFlick · 13/03/2010 05:32

oh and I forgot I had a question. All those of you who temperature chart using FF (bunny- I know you did didn't you? With obvious success!) do you use the advanced (recommended) setting or the FAM setting?

Thanks xx

MrsWajs · 13/03/2010 08:08

Morning peeps!

Will make better attempt not to say anything insensitive this morning as I think I may have yesterday morning....apologies.

Nothing new to report here apart from having the equivalent of mount everest growing out of my face and still a few crampy twinges - not totally unconvinced that AF is going to surprise me with a short cycle again this month but will keep fingers crossed all the same! 2-7 days to go (approximately!!)

Hope everyone else is fine.x

CaveMum · 13/03/2010 08:26

FelicityFlick thanks for the kind words. It is tough but you kind of get used to it. The first few days are always the worst. I worked out the other day - in the 8yrs dh & I have been together he has spent almost 2yrs in another country!
Could be a whole lot worse, he "flies a desk" as I like to put it, so when he does go overseas he is always on base & not in immediate danger. His brother was in Afghanistan last year for 6 months with the Royal Marines & he had several near misses including one incident where 2 of his friends were killed just metres away from him.

Right off to quiz dh to see if he knows what day it is - it's our 18 month wedding anniversary today! I know blokes don't think about stuff like that but I might be able to swizz a present out of him!

Happy Weekend everyone, & good luck if you are POAS today/tomorrow.

luckyseven · 13/03/2010 10:39

I am not supposed to be on here, running late to go to the park with my best friend and her 18month old son but i just couldn't resist a catch up. am i addicted?

Will post again later but felt bad for reading and running.

I don't know how to change the stats but according to my CBFM i am on cd 23 - 2 days to go - yikes!

Lipstie · 13/03/2010 11:21

Congratulations Bunnygirl!!! The way you described that made me and dh laugh alot!

Cavemum I know how you feel about OH being in the military as my dh is in the army so will have to prepare myself that he will be going away at some point. I know he is going to be here for the next year so would like to hurry up and get a bfp while he is here as his input is required! haha. He is going to apply to go to Afghanistan for a year so hope we manage to get what we want soon.

I had a very weird dream last night but one of the memorable moments was I found out I was pregnant and I had a boy! Does this sound like I am predicting the future?! I am currently waiting for AF to show as I am sure it is not the right month for us. On a very positive note DH has made me so proud by giving up smoking as he said he want to make his swimmers stronger, could not believe when he said that was his reasons for giving up. I am so proud of him

Dinkytinky · 13/03/2010 12:52

Morning-ish all!god what a bunch of chatterboxes today lol!mrs wajs - I didn't notice anything insensitive but I'm Too blunt for my own good sometimes!Hi cherryblossom I'm newish too and I love this thread, everyones so lovely and supportive, and they answer my silly questions!

I loved bunny's desription of her hubbys reaction! Lol!

Does anyone have any funny/embarrassing ttc stories so share?
I'll start off.... a few months ago I was home alone and decided to see what I would look like witha bump, so stuffed some cushions in my jumper and paraded around like that in front of the mirror..At that point the window cleaner turned up so I grabbe my purse to pay him, and he said oh my god! Congratulations! And being the big idiot I am I panicked and said thanks! At which point one of the cushions fell out! Definitly crazy baby lady!Xx

kkas · 13/03/2010 13:21

omg dinky that is hilarious!!! there's no way i can top that, but some of the oldies on here will most likely remember my "leaking" experience in the tesco car park!

zippys i am so sorry for your bfn , but i really haven't given up hope for you still. i hope you check in now and again when you feel up to it.

claire i know how you feel. even though i am still 2 months behind you i have really started feeling that way too. and i have almost been thinking that i'm not even sure if i would want to go through the whole heartache of fertility treatments, etc if we couldn't conceive naturally. it's just so hard isn't it! i'm here for you babe.....

bunny congrats hun. really happy for you

still in NWL here although we tried a PSL this morning and DH got stage fright.... here we go again.
