[sounds of munching through a whole Terry's Chocolate Orange]

Stupid doctor at the stupid surgery said that they won't do anything about AF not arriving until 6 months (SIX MONTHS) after I stopped taking the pill.

I should have lied.

Have cried all over DH, who was also upset in his own quiet way, and am now eating chocolate and thinking about registering with a new surgery.

Sorry to rant but feel oh so hopeless. And I know that my problems are but nothing compared to many of the lovely people on this thread, but even THAT reason is not meaning much at the moment.

6 months! Don't feel bad about getting upset. I know I would be too.

I know nothing about what they would usually advise but that doesn't seem right too me. It seems far too long.

I think you should definatly try another surgery.

Fingers crossed you come on ASAP & hope you are ok xxxx

Hello and first time hello to Mrswaj & Dinkytinky!

I am going to share something i think i could only ever share here but ... last night i got told off doing the business! DH said - "stop lying there expecting to be stroked!" Apparently he was planning a 'move' and i was just lying there! sort of killed the mood, had a good laugh and continued - who said the romance goes when ttc!
I am 9 dpo but we decided just to keep going this month after the cbfm peaks as the last 6 months didn't work!

halofl0 i am also due AF on the 15th - what are your thoughts on a mothers day first response poas?

CaveMum · 09/03/2010 18:06

Hello ladies, another newbie here .

I've succumbed to temptation, and sheer nosey-ness, and joined up on here despite the fact that dh and I are not planning on starting TTC until this time next year - we need to move to a bigger house first and need to save up some cash for a decent deposit before putting our current house on the market - boo!

But, I am being good and getting my reasearch in now so that we are full prepared when we do start.

Can I ask you all what vitamins you are all using? I plan to come off the pill in September and give myself 3 or 4 months to reestablish my cycles (been on the pill for almost 15 years) but I want to start pre-pregnancy vitamins at the same time and really don't know which ones are the best!

Obv, I know I need to be taking 400mg of folic acid but are all vitamin manufacturers the same? Would the cheap FA vitamins from Tesco, for example be as good as the expensive ones on the internet? A colleague of mine refuses to buy vitamins from supermarkets/Boots etc as she doesn't believe they are good enough quality so spends a fortune on mail order instead.

Advice appreciated!

Dinkytinky · 09/03/2010 18:08

Hi calligraphy! My friends dh is just like that but when very drunk he told my dp that he felt that not 'sperminating'( his words not mine) her at ov time made him feel less manly as I guess he associates masculinity with conception.I think lots of non baby related ego stroking might help maybe complement his shelf making abilities?! Haha. But seriously my mum alwys says that women become mothers when they are pregnant and men become fathers when baby is born.
Kurly- that kindof response from the docters is so insensitive, maybe ask for a second opinion, everyone has a right to one. A friend of mine was ttc an. Spoke to doc and he said 'there's worse things in life than fertility problems!!!!' good luck anyway lots of wishes an d baby dust xxx

Ariesgirl · 09/03/2010 20:24

Sperminating! I love it and intend to use it often.

Hello everyone new . I'm only just not new myself. Tis funny - on some threads, like this lovely one, everyone is very friendly and you settle in very quickly and on others (like everything not in Conception), you definitely have to really persevere. Though possibly not actually being a Mum disqualifies me to comment elsewhere. There should be another site just called Net.

Aren't some doctor's shite? And in case there are any reading this, of course, very many are also lovely.

Hello Calligraphy - joining me in No Woman's Land? Can't yet think of practising for SWI as, well.... I just can't. Unclean! Re the OH not wanting to do it, couldn't you threaten to leave him and shag someone else? Should do the trick. Seriously (sorry for my bad taste flippancy), maybe just indulging every few days all the way through cycle would mean he'd quickly lose track. It's frustrating isn't it - we're always told men are permanently up for it and yet when you hand yourself to them on a plate it often seems to kill the moment. "You only want me for my sperm" was what I had last month. What? WHAT? Er...yes actually. Problem?

kurlyvoice · 09/03/2010 20:46

Girls, you are lovely, and I am so grateful to you for your support - and your chocolate! Am feeling a bit better now and although I'd love to talk to my Mummy/best friends about today's drama, at least I have you all. Supernanny on Channel4 at the moment is trying to put my off babies for the time being. Not working much. Maybe the maternity programme next will do it!

and welcome dinkytinky and cavemum to the MOST WONDERFUL thread on MN. Sorry that you've caught me on the grump...

On a much better note, I am excited by the fizzing and hoping that those waiting to POAS are coping with the 2ww.

Dinkytinky · 09/03/2010 20:53

Hi Ariesgirl! I'm an Aries girl too haha-when's your bday? Totally know what you mean about the different ranges of friendliness- I held off joiningfor a while as I'd heard it could be quite bitchy! I'm sticking to this thread now.are you watching one born every minute? I'm waiting to watch and blubber my way through haha x

mumnerves · 09/03/2010 20:55

Hi Dinkytinky and welcome, I'd love it if every one of us could celebrate mothers day this time next year. What a lovely thought!

zippys test test test!! How exciting! Good luck anyway for when you decide to poas

ariesgirl my Dh doesn't eat cereal regularly and it's a chore just getting him to take his vits! I'll join you in no womans land for now, at least we can have a drink at this point

evilgiraffe It does feel like everyone around is getting preggers doesn't it?! It just annoys me when they announce oh we were just going to see what happens Good luck for tomorrow

kurlyvoice you rant away! 6 months sounds like an awfully long time! I'd be seriously pissed off too! THanks for the offer of brownies but I think you need them more than me!

Calligraphy82 Maybe you should have a chat with him? Men are pretty clueless about these things. I had to have a good chat with DH and explain ovulation etc to him. I still don't tell him when I'm ovulating to try and keep spontaneity but he knows about a week after af is over that we're in swi phase

luckyseven lol! AT least you're both not taking it all too seriously. Sounds like you both have a similar sense of humour, so sweet!

Hi cavemum and welcome. We're taking pregnacare conceive for him and her. I'm afraid I disagree completely with your friend. I know that Boots and other uk companies test their vits very vigorously as they have to be approved by the UK medicines board. They have a brand to maintain too so any hint of controversy would not do the name any good. In fact if you get it mail order or though the internet, who's to say that they are not fake? That's what I think anyway. I was recommended these, they are expensive but I hope they do the trick! If you don't want to spend a lot, just buy folic acid 400mcg. It's got to have that amount of folic acid no matter what brand you buy or trading stds would be on them like a ton of bricks!

Dinkytinky · 09/03/2010 20:57

Hi kurly, I'm ready to watch channel 4 too, I love it so much, even better with my faux chocolate brownie! May I offer you a virtual cup of tea?don't worry about the grumps, we all have them- last month I hurled pancake batter and pan at the bin and sat on the kitchen floor and cried haha! Thankyou for being so lovely x

Ariesgirl · 09/03/2010 21:02

Dinkytinky I'm not an Aries. Honest! I'm actually a...umm...Gemini! No wait, a Taurus. Yes, that's it.

Actually my birthday is in about four weeks. And I will be thirty five . Will watch OBEM until my DH starts tutting and clicking. "Surely it can't hurt THAT much?" Maybe I'll shove a football up his backside and ask him his opinion then.

kurlyvoice · 09/03/2010 21:17

DH has manufactures some ironing so that he can watching OBEM! Sometimes I think that the boys need a crazybabyguy thread of their own...

It's not great for us TTC-ers to have all these accidental pregnancies on tonight, but hey!

CaveMum · 09/03/2010 21:24

mumnerves thank you, I was of the same sort of opinion - that they wouldn't be allowed to sell the vitamins if they didn't meet a certain standard - but my colleague is one of those people that you daren't disagree with - she is ALWAYS right .

Guess I should start looking out for the BOGOFs now!

Sitting in bed watching One Born Every Minute now, and possibly putting myself off giving birth for life!

maamalady · 10/03/2010 07:34

Did a CB digital test this morning (previous ones have been tesco's own) - again, it was a BFN. So, definitely post-pill weirdness happening to my cycle and I shall now endeavour to be patient waiting for AF to turn up.

Morning

Dinky I too have had the thought about Mothers Day, although I had it last year too . There are cards for 1st Mothers day and just hope we all receive one next year -

Haloflo have you decided when you are going to test, I think its best to have a day set in your head and try to stick to it (although some months that all goes out of the window!!) Hope you are not getting a cold

Kurly I am so sorry your doctor was horrible - do they not realise how stressful this can be I agree with the others, try to get a second opinion. Hope you feel a bit better today (chocolate always help problems!)

Luckyseven how lovely would it be to get a BFP on Mothers day It is weird the things you say on this board that you would never ever say in RL!

Calligraphy sorry to hear about your dh, have you talked to him about it? Or do you not think it would help?

Hi Cavemum as others have said this is lovely thread and as you can tell we are all very open and there fore each other when we need it.

Sorry for anyone I missed out, so a general hi

Well no sign of AF yet, but I have had a 38 and a 39 day cycle so not getting too excited yet. Still have no symptoms at all so am pretty sure AF will show up before the weekend.

Quite upset this morning I have not been sick the last 2 mornings (only retching and then feeling ok) whereas this morning I feel terrible, been sick loads and feel really really queasy sat here. I thought the sickness was going and therefore it coming back so bad has just made me want to go to bed and hibernate . Not got my results from CT yet, need to ring the hospital to chase my appointment, but will keep you updated - sorry to have moaned so much

zippys · 10/03/2010 07:50

sorry x-post Evilgiraffe sorry to hear of your BFN. (Passes some chocolate) I think that people should be told more about the effects og the pill when you are first put on it - although I dont know if it would have stopped me 10 or so years ago!

bunnygirl80 · 10/03/2010 08:35

Hello ladies

Welcome dinkytinky and cavemum

I've just spent an hour catching up on the thread - should have taken notes so I could leave personal messages for everyone

Sorry about the BFN giraffe kurly sorry you didn't get much help from your doctor. It does seem that they are not concerned until you've been off the pill for 6 months, which is annoying when you're told if you miss one when you're taking it you'll probably end up pg.

I've noticed that this thread is almost full, and seeing as I started it I am supposed to be guaranteed by the end

I was expecting AF to show up today, and there is no sign. My temp has gone up instead of down as well, but I am determined not to get excited for another couple of days. I'll test at the weekend if no AF before then - hopefully we won't have filled the thread and we can test the theory

OP posts:
bunnygirl80 · 10/03/2010 08:36

Ooops, I meant I am supposed to be guaranteed a BFP by the end!

OP posts:
zippys · 10/03/2010 08:49

oooh Bunnygirl temp rise sounds very promising, and as you said you are guarenteed a BFP by the end of the thread - although you do realise there will be chaos with everyone fighting to start the next one . Are you planning on testing on Sat or Sun? How good would it be if we both got BFP this weekend

bunnygirl80 · 10/03/2010 09:06

zippys I'll probably test on Saturday....was thinking of waiting till Sunday as a Mother's day BFP would be nice, but I am seriously lacking in self control!

I wonder if I do get a BFP whether we will end up with about 10 rival frolickers threads as everyone will start one!

Am now going to go back to my non-cycle day counting promise and not mention sypmtoms, temps or testing until at least Saturday

OP posts:
WhiteRoses · 10/03/2010 09:50

Hi everyone.

I've just been trying to catch up a bit but seem to be soooo far behind...

Kkas - I'm really sorry about AF. Was very hopeful for you this month. Still, maybe next month. That'd be a little New Year baby, wouldn't it? What a great way to celebrate!

Bunny - fingers crossed for you!

Zippys - sorry to hear you've been sick again. Maybe it's for a better reason this time though? Good luck!

Everyone that I've missed, I'm sorry! I've entered into my second trimester today and am just waiting for this "blooming" to occur! The sooner the better! Then I'll be back to Mumsnetting instead of napping of an evening and I'll have a good catch up with you all, which will be nice.

WhiteRoses · 10/03/2010 09:59

Calyx - had missed your AF too. Sorry about that. Hope you're at least enjoying the wine and chocolat though.

And Zippys - my boobs only JUST changed for the very first time a couple of days ago. Still no pain, still the same colour, still in the same size of bra, but they've finally firmed up a little bit. See when I think of all that time spent looking at them in the mirror from all different angles, poking at them, squeezing them, wondering was the light the same... COMPLETE waste of time! Cruel old Mother Nature!

MrsWajs · 10/03/2010 10:46

Moring!

Popped on last night but OH was taking a particular interest in what I was doing so thought since I had slated him earlier in the day I better not let him read too far up-thread!! Bless him though he wanted to know what the site was about and what people were discussing - he looked at one post, couldn't decipher half of the acronyms and gave up!! So maybe a crazybabyguy thread could be a good idea kurlyvoice they can discuss everything in simple man friendly terms!!

Anyway he has made up for his antics on Monday night so all is well again, glad because I start back nightshift on Thurs and hate being away when we've fallen out!!

Hi to haloflo and luckyseven don't think Ive "met" you yet

Dinkytinky No kebabs thankfully might have actually killed him if he'd brought a kebab home!! Checked my diary and think I'm roughly due the 19th/20th of this month so we are waiting this one out together for sure!! Are you planning on First Responsing or just waiting for late AF??

kurlyoice Sorry to hear about your horrible doctor but just like everyone else has suggested I would go back and ask for 2nd opinion, I know from working in the NHS that if u eventually shout long and hard enough you can get what you want!! Good luck!

Loved OBEM last night - sobbed had a little cry when the baba's were born!! OH sat and squirmed through it all then breathed a sigh of relief when it was finished!! Was just a touch jealous of the young mums who were accidentally pregnant Roll on the 19th!!
