Hi all,
yes, I'm new to mumsnet and new to TTC - planning to start from 1st Jan.
Is anyone in the same boat and as excited / impatient about it as me?!
Also reading some of the other notes from TTC'ers and am realising there is so much yet I have no idea about!
Hope to hear from you.

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, I was away on a "skiing" holiday, which mainly involved me sat in the chalet by myself all day, watching other people drink loads of booze and trying not to gag at the sight of yet more melted cheese lol. I just had to keep telling myself that a change of scenary and mountain air are good for the soul.

Glad you had a nice time at the spa Artyparty, I did go and had a really relaxing, but not very hot, time. It's definitely worth it.

As for blooming... I'm sure it'll happen, but for now it's just 24/7 nausea and clothes that dont feel like they fit anymore. And then ravening hunger, which is probably why the clothes don't fit!

Sparrow I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Hello ladies I'm new to this site too. calligraphy82 I was interested reading your comments because my partner and I are planning to start to ttc in June. We are having difficult conversations at the moment because I want to start now but he wants to take a few months to improve our health and diet first. I've started to monitor my cycle and just want to get going!! It's good to come on here and be able to talk to other people in similar situations.

SparrowGirl · 22/02/2010 17:38

Hi guys! Its been ages since I've been on. Annoyingly my AF hit with a vengence and destroyed all hopes this month along with a rather nice pair of knickers (sorry TMI). On the upside I suppose if my cycle is the same length each month its quite short and at the moment any reduction in days I have to wait each month is a bonus.

I love hot baths! I don't want to have to give them up! I shall have to have lots now when I know I'm not pregnant to try and make up for not being able to have any when I am. I shall hence forth see a negative test as at least meaning I can still have a really hot suana

lulabell - sking holidays with no sking or drinking sounds a little like missing out the best bits. Still, it will all be worth it I'm sure. You can then constantly remind the child of the many and terrible sacrifices you had to make on his/her behalf

Hi calligraphy82, Thanks for being so honest. It sounds like I'm on the same path as you but a few steps behind. Managed to have a good talk with my partner today and he was surprised to learn how few days a month I could actually get pregnant. He thought that as soon as we decided it would be a given. We're still talking about starting in June but hopefully I can bring him forward on that. His big problem is smoking and he really wants to give that up before we get serious about ttc. Thankfully he is starting to do something about that and like you I am now taking folic acid, have cut out caffeine, am living off fruit and nuts and only have the odd glass of wine! I'm also hoping weight loss until I conceive will be a happy result. At least I am now officially off the pill and am charting my temperature daily to work out the days we will need to try!! So pleased I found this site. It's such a relief to be able to talk so openly!

Thanks BabyBecks! I am indeed holding out some hope for this month.

Also thanks to Calligraphy82 for making me feel better about generally uncharitable feelings towards the two people I know who are pregnant without even trying! It really isn't fair and I stand up now and admit that I am just a tad bitter about it .

Still I comfort myself with the knowledge then when I do get pregnant it will be a carefully considered decision that both me and DP have spent loads of time making sure we're ready for. So though I am a bit bitter I know deep down that I wouldn't have wanted it to be an accident.

CCBloom · 23/02/2010 23:35

BabyBecks here's hoping some weight loss is a nice unexpected bonus! My DP is a social smoker too but I am beyond happy that I have come home to find he has stocked up on nicorette patches! I have checked out fertility friend and have signed up to their e-mails but they seem a bit like studying a nightclass in fertility!!!

Hi Calligraphy
Sorry to hear about your dissapointment. It's nice to feel you have a little secret isn't it? Last month I did a test which was negative but still I thought I was PG due to AF being three days late!
Also, admit to feeling envious of a friend who seems to get PG immediately (now on her second) - or rather they both claim it always happens "first time" pah!
I agree with the ever sensible Babybecks. Each month we don't get the BFP is another sum in the savings account for the mat leave!
Girls, I notice some of you have given up caffine.
A have about 2 cups of coffee a day - should I ditch them? This is only my second month trying. I have low blood pressure anyway.

300mg per day is a quite a large amount of caffeine though. I'm a tea drinker not coffee, and tea apparently has about 40mg per mug. I was all for giving it up completely, tried that and then figured the amount of stress caused by not having cups of tea would counteract any benefit anyway! And withdrawal headaches are horrid. So now am on 2-3 cups per day and if I want another I have de-caff (which is minging piss btw and needs to be drunk at boiling point to make it taste bearable). My SIL who had fertility problems and eventually had IVF and is in the medical profession said that if time's going by and you're not conceiving for ages it won't be because you're drinking a couple of cups of coffee per day. If you're stuck for hot drink ideas I've found hot cranberry or hot apple juice with a bit of cinnamon are very yummy. The other thing to bear in mind if you do get up the duff is that lots of caffeine has been linked to miscarriage, but that's A LOT.

That's my geeky research-based post for the day.

Artyparty · 28/02/2010 13:05

Thanks Girls
I thought the caffine thing was to do with keeping your blood pressure down and as mine is so low anyway, feel I need a cup to get me going each day.
Very impressed with all your research

Artyparty · 28/02/2010 13:10

PS - I am going to do the same as you babybecks and cut down to two or three a week as a treat and decaf the rest of the time.
Love the comment on decaf tea Ariesgirl It is a bit like old dishwater.

Hey all,

Not posted for a while as been really busy with one thing and another - but thought I'd stop by for an update...

Waiting for AF, but think/know my cycle has changed so waiting for that to settle and temp readings all over the place, but know i'm under a bit more work related stress than normal.

The gp appointment calmed me a lot, so we'd relegated ourselves to "seeing what happens" till mid March - the stressy part of me is hoping to fool myself into relaxing and as result allow the cycle to return to some form of pattern althoguh I have continued with temping to not break habit!!

Temp should sort itself out as haven't had an unbroken nights sleep for a while, which explains why there is no pattern there, and was on the pill for a while so should have expected the change in cycle... did assume it would be as soon as stopped the pill - damn body lured me into a false sense of security!!
