Hi all,
yes, I'm new to mumsnet and new to TTC - planning to start from 1st Jan.
Is anyone in the same boat and as excited / impatient about it as me?!
Also reading some of the other notes from TTC'ers and am realising there is so much yet I have no idea about!
Hope to hear from you.

Hi all,
hey oneof8... this sounds like a bad trip to the docs... not what you were expecting, though probably better to have whatever checks are required than for things to drag on? I'm afraid I've got no experience on this - only been off of the pill just over a month myself. Let us know how it goes with the results.
Sparrow... my DH is probably a little looonier than me hence getting away with the headboard trick. Hope you managed to find DP at optimimum time!
Anyhew... got AF this week very surprisingly after only 18 days.. so looking forward to month 2 and trying again. Ho hum...

Hey there!

Howdy oneof8. I can see how this would be a bit of a perturbing trip to the docs. On the other hand it does sound like your dr is at least interested in your situation and keen to make sure they do everything they can to help. I've read some pretty awful stories of gps who just don't bother which has to be worse then one who is, at worst, a little over keen!

At least this way you will know if there is a problem or not early and can either do something about it or stop worrying. In regards to your results, not really an area of expertise for me I'm afraid. You could try one of the other thread with some more experienced people as they will probably be able to help more. Though, to be honest your gp sounds pretty on the case and I have no doubt will let you know as soon as possible what your results mean and if there are any issues that need to be looked at further. So you might be better off just, erm..letting them do their job and not getting yourself in a tiz by trying to second guess what the results are going to be or mean. Though I confess that I am a terrible rover of the internet and shocking hypochondriac so certainly wouldn't be following my own advice if I was in your situation

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hey all,

Thanks BabyBecks - she is a really lovely doctor, so am lucky on that point, but it was a bit fast, as there to look at a blocked sliva gland (which is taking a while to go down)!

"Lucky" I am hectic with work at the mo, as travelling early part of the week. So far results waiting hasn't worried me as assume its just a precaution, but I just prefer to have an idea whats' what when I call up!

I lack pride, so if you are ok to donate - and no one else here wants it, I'd be grateful for the CBFM as don't beleive I have PCOS or similar and we discussed buying one around summer if no luck (OH thinks a lot to spend at the minute with everything else!)

Let me know if you would want anything for it ("swap" you for a voucher if you dont want money, to get started on baby shopping?)

Hope everyone else is fine x

OneOf8 · 28/03/2010 14:53

poo - sorry, posted at work whilst preparing for tomorrow! Should have said Saliva gland... GCSE's really were easier back in the day - I was awarded a B, yet can't spell for toffee!

SparrowGirl · 28/03/2010 15:20

Hey there BabyBecks! Glad your all ok. I'm pretty sure that it's common to have some bleeding during early pregnancy. I've heard that some women can even continue to have periodish bleeding for a while so try not to worry too much. Though I know that I would be a nervous wreck at every twinge...ho hum

Just started the second week of the 2ww which seems to be when I start loosing my marbles and going completely insane. AF is due easter sunday so just need to make it through this week

SparrowGirl · 30/03/2010 19:50

Helloooo! Anyone about. It has gone terribly quiet. [listening intently face]

Yay! Hi BabyBecks.

I had some really sharp cramping that lasted from sunday night through monday and then settled down tuesday. None at all today. I have half convinced myself it was implantation but am trying really hard not to get too excited as at the same time I'm feeling very much like AF is on the way any day.

I'm just surfing mumsnet to pass the time in a rather masochistic fashion and accidently found myself looking at baby things the other night. Trying to get through for at least another day or so before I test.

Ooo..that does sound good. Darn it! Now I'm even more excited! Bad Sparrow...must stop!

I have promised myself a haircut if I get a BFN this month to make myself feel better...or if I get a BFP I shall have one to celebrate. I really do need a hair cut quite a lot...

I had a look at the pregnancy threads and they are a bit scary. Hope to see you their soon though. If I get my BFP this month we can go together. Safety in numbers

milanomum · 31/03/2010 21:24

Hi - Me too! we've just decided to try for a second child (DD is 18 mnths and was conceived the 2nd month we decided to try!) but my cycle is a little irregular and I'm finding it hard to know when the deed needs to be done - I also have a question, if anyone can help - I was wondering which day I should use as the first day of my cycle because I get brownish discharge for 3 to four days before I actually start bleeding...do I count from the first bleeding day, or discharge day?? Is that TMI ?

milanomum · 31/03/2010 21:29

Sorry - I'm so new to MN that I hadn't realised where the last post was - wasn't ignoring you all, just a bit crap

Hi All,

Welcome to the madness milanomum!

Just a little update - went to the dr's to get the results, and spoke with different dr as my lady was not available.
He said all results were within normal limits, and there is no cause for concern - however would do a referral for scan (if still no sign of AF) in 6/8 weeks as should be seen within 3 weeks of the referral.

He did go through the numbers slightly - but only really understood there was no sign of issue and everything hormone wise is working according to results...

I'll be honest - was glad everything was classed as normal, as if he wanted to do anything more I'd then be concerned

BabyBecks thank you so much - my email is [email protected]

Hope everyone is looking forwards to the long weekend! Know I am!!

xx

SparrowGirl · 04/04/2010 17:41

Hey Oneof8! Glad your results were ok. Your gp sound really good, I think it's great that they are doing this stuff now and making sure you are all ok .

My AF is due either today or tomorrow. No sign yet but I did a test this morning with a digital and got a big Not Pregnant so have pretty much written off this month. A bit gutted really as I had cramping and even a tiny bit of spotting a couple of days ago which I thought might be implantation. But onwards and upwards, I guess it just wasn't to be.

I shall numb the pain with chocolate and organic cider

milanomum · 04/04/2010 20:13

Thanks Babybecks (hope it's a sticky!) and Oneof8 for the welcome!
I'm still waiting for AF...but refuse to test for another few days.
Best of luck to everyone!

SparrowGirl · 04/04/2010 20:28

Hey Milanomum! A belated welcome

I am also waiting to test again, hence the haunting of the mn threads due to not being able to think about anything else!

Hope your waiting and testing goes well .

Jojo7 · 05/04/2010 12:59

Hi all,
Babybecks, thanks for the advice.. the BBT kit on amazon sounds like the way forwards. I will also check out Fertility Friend. I hope all is still going with you.. it sounds like the midwife was very reassuring which is good. I can imagine that you feel and notice everything right now wondering if it's all on track. Role on the 8 week scan hey

Milanomum.. I'm as confused as you on this I'm afraid.

I must say, one thing I haven't quite worked out is when, ideally, BD is supposed to take place in relation to ov... is just before ok? Or just after? I'm kind of wondering what the window is.. if anyone knows this I'd be keen to hear.

Hey sparrow... sorry to hear of the BFN. I hope the choccie and organic cider has helped you through more waiting.

OP posts:
milanomum · 05/04/2010 19:25

well... not this month for me, but I have only really started trying so not too worried yet. Jojo - As far as I know we are supposed to BD every couple of days in and around our fertile period for the best chances, much to my husband's delight ! and after a bit of reading on the net it seems the first day is the first actual day of bleeding...
Here's to April then!

SparrowGirl · 06/04/2010 09:19

Hi there.

AF started this morning

Was ok with it at first but then DP made some huffy comment about needing to leave soon or he'd be late for work and I burst into tears. Poor DP!

Anyway, there is always next month.

Here's to April!

OneOf8 · 06/04/2010 13:55

Guess I'll be the only person on here "glad" to see AF!

Having a bit of cramping today - feels stronger than the other month (when had the spotting, then nothing then tiny bit of spotting on and off for a few days etc) so hoping this is it.

Just want to get AF out the way so will have a chance at conceiving!

Sorry AF found you Milanomum and SparrowGirl - Here's to next month!!

How is everyone else getting on?

x

Jojo7 · 18/04/2010 08:23

Hey folks, sorry I've been away for a couple of weeks... been a bit busy with work. On CD25, tested today (too early?) and got a BFN so am thinking here's to next month now. We're going to try harder this month with temp charting. Babyback's fertilityfriend.com recommendation is excellent and I am feeling far more knowledgeable!
Not sure if anyone else is around but I am if you are.
Hope you are all getting on ok.
