11DPO positive - but concerned

Hi all just looking for some advice really feeling very anxious. Yesterday at only 10dpo I got 4 positive tests including one clear blue digital it said Pregnant 1-2 weeks.

then this morning I took a pregnancy test that was extremely cheap (pack of 3) with only a 20ml HCG sensitivity and the line was BARELY visable. This was with first morning urine! So I instantly thought I was having a chemical.

i went to the shop and got a more sensitive clear blue test. And it’s come back positive straight away - but in your opinion is the line colour ok for 11dpo?

As getting mixed signals on the cheap tests - not sure if I should be concerned. A doctor won’t see me will they?

thanks Jess

How amazing!!! @HollyR19 :) how are you feeling so far?

Hey, sorry I am so slow at replying. I'm ok. I've become quite pregnancy test addict however! My boobs are sore and I'm super hungry, but no other major symptoms! How about you?

sellingupslow · 16/11/2024 09:42

@Brownbottle I did my last digital last night at 4+6 and got a 3+ so I'm going to stop taking now 🙈

Glad you're all feeling good and looking forward to seeing all the scans! Nice we have each other to make the wait feel less 😂

My scan is 2 weeks tomorrow and also feels ages away! I'll be 7+1!

JDecember21 · 16/11/2024 18:56

@Brownbottle hi!! So sorry to hear you’re feeling like this in truth I’ve been the exact same!! I think taking a break away from the tests will help. I’ve not actually been to get my bloods tested in the end lovely- just couldn’t deal with the doctors and their sarcasm😂

so my first reassurance scan I’ll be 7 weeks and 1 day, and you’re supposed to be able to see a heartbeat by then.

I think stepping away from the tests will definitely help. In truth I know exactly how you are feeling I still don’t believe I’m pregnant but I’m sure that’ll change with our scans.

i think the best thing we can do at the moment is try and take care of ourselves and keep our minds distracted, get lots of rest etc.

but yes I’m the same anxious to go to the toilet incase I see blood but nothing whatsoever yet and obvs I know I am pregnant but until I see it on the screen I won’t believe it haha! X

How's everyone feeling today?

Lulu89x · 18/11/2024 10:44

10DPO!

First test - FMU
Second test - an hour later

I can see lines in both. I’m in shock!

How's everyone feeling today?

Ok thanks! I’m still getting a bit of nausea mainly after eating for a few hours and a bit first thing in morning. Boobs are a bit sore but not too bad, and my sleep is a bit patchy. Still doesn’t feel real and it feels so long to wait until scan early December - maybe 6th or longer if I can manage it.

I did the clear blue weeks digital yesterday and it was 2-3, I would be technically 3 weeks from conception yesterday or today but don’t know exactly when I ovulated and I know these tests aren’t always that reliable…so hoping when I do another next weekend it will be 3+ for my nerves!

@sellingupslow when you got the two hcg tests was that via EPU? I’ve been thinking about getting a private one but surely it would have to be two separate tests a few days apart as the ranges for this early are SO wide so you need to be able to see the increase? And not obvious which private tests are two separate ones!

How are you feeling?

Congrats, they look good!

Congrats, they look good!

Thank you! I went from not testing at all to taking 4 tests in the space of 5 hours!! A Morrisons cheapie was negative.

Clear blue on my 6th pee of the day. I still can’t believe it!

sellingupslow · 18/11/2024 13:17

@Brownbottle I feel the same way you do!

No so I had my first blood done privately and the second one my GP arranged because I couldn't get a second one done privately 48hrs later due to appointment availability!

My EPU said they wouldn't do a thing until I'm 6 weeks but the midwife from the EPU advised I reach out to the GP!

sellingupslow · 18/11/2024 13:18

@Lulu89x that's a lovely line! Congratulations!

HolyMerlot · 18/11/2024 13:53

Sorry for hopping on your thread @JDecember21 but I had to when I saw the July 2025 due dates floating about!

Had my first ever BFP this morning at 14dpo! Only our second cycle of unmedicated IUI (with donor sperm - same sex couple) so a bit of a shock, even though I'd had a few unusual symptoms in the days leading up to it. Not the strongest of lines for 14dpo but the fertility clinic is more than happy with it!

My calculations suggest a 30th July 2025 due date and the clinic has booked a scan for 10th December (which feels a lifetime away!).

I'm still convinced that it's not going to "stick" Blush and as a PP said, I assumed me and DP would be elated, jumping around the bathroom but it took about a minute to appear so there was a lot of squinting, holding it in different light, going "Sh*t. It's negative", "Wait I think I can see something appearing, can you?", "Yes I think so", "Oh God yes, there it is, it's actually worked!" Grin

sellingupslow · 18/11/2024 15:26

@HolyMerlot congratulations! How are you feeling?

It's so nice to see so many of us around the same due date, it's such a nerve wrecking time so it's nice to have support from people going through the same thing!

This is baby no2 for me, my little girl is currently 4.5!

She's going to be so excited when she finds out!

JDecember21 · 18/11/2024 18:43

@Lulu89x hey! These were exactly how mine were at 10po they darkened every 2 days :)

OP posts:
JDecember21 · 18/11/2024 18:45

@Lulu89x and don’t worry about the negative as they all have different sensitivity thresholds there were some cheap ones I didn’t get a positive on straight away either x

@HolyMerlot ahhhh no need to apologise the more the merrier !!! :) wow congratulations so happy for you!!! FYI- I recognise that test brand, my lines from that brand were the same at 14dpo and were much darker on other tests. With that test I also had to dip it into a pot of urine for ages for it to actually show up meanwhile I was getting clear lines on other brands so don’t worry too much. Apparently they darken every 2 days :) so happy for you!

JDecember21 · 18/11/2024 18:58

@sellingupslow @Brownbottle

to update you guys I’ve had quite a rollercoaster today! So I THOUGHT I was 5 weeks today and despite saying I wasn’t going to test anymore (lol) I took a test this morning and the test line is finally as dark as control so thought that was a good sign.
Digital clear blue was still 2-3 weeks though not 3+ but
however… I was having one sided pains last night that seemed to go up my arm as well and of course when I googled it, it came up with ectopic pregnancy straight away.. well that sent me into a panic and having still feeling panicked this morning I called the docs who when I told him my symptoms said I needed to go straight to the hospital for a scan to rule out ectopic.

anyway, after the most nerve wracking drive ever and the most scared I’ve ever felt, turns out it’s not ectopic, there’s nothing where it shouldn’t be BUT the gestational sac is measuring about 3/4 days behind… so she could barely see anything except the gest sac. Which was still really hard to see because she said I’ve got a very unusual shaped uterus (lol)

I know you shouldn’t worry about not seeing much at this stage I think I was just really surprised as I must have ovulated a few days or so after I thought which is odd as I’d been tracking. She said it looks about 4.5 weeks. She’s sent me back in 2 weeks for another scan so in my world it should be 7 weeks but if my dates are wrong then it’ll be 6.5 weeks. I SHOULD see more activity and maybe even a heart beat if I’m lucky.

I genuinely feel like as blessed as I am to even have fallen pregnant it deffo still doesn’t feel real and the anxiety I’m feeling is something I definitely didn’t expect to feel so much of. I’ve got that scan in 2 weeks then I’ve got another private one 2 weeks later so that’ll be at least 8.5 weeks with my partner. But yeah… I feel like I really want to ease into it but I cannot for the life of me stop worrying and symptom spotting and googling!!

it’s so nice to have people to talk to who are in the same boat hope you’re both okay. Time is dragging on between these scans for sure!

one positive is that they said cos of the scan they didn’t feel the need to take my bloods which is good as they must be confident with what they saw even if it wasn’t the clearest picture x

@sellingupslow Feeling good so far, thank you, in fact I keep forgetting about it when I'm busy doing other things!

It's definitely nice and comforting seeing others on a similar timeline - especially when we're obviously not announcing to anyone IRL yet (though we will be telling my parents this week once they're back from their holiday, only because they know all about our treatment and know that test day was due).

sellingupslow · 18/11/2024 19:10

@JDecember21 wow I bet you're feeling emotionally exhausted!

But I'm so pleased you managed to get a scan and that they're going to rescan in 2 weeks! And you saw a teeny little baby in the right place 🥹

How are you feeling now? Is the pain ok?

Hall24 · 18/11/2024 19:27

Hi everyone hope it ok to jump on here.. I’m 13/14dpo I think and got a positive on first response just worried it’s not dark enough for this stage!

@JDecember21 Thanks so much for the feedback on the test brand, that's super helpful. They're just the really cheap ones, 3 in a blue box available at Asda, Savers etc. We were told by the clinic to get the most basic ones we could find and not to bother with digital ones yet but me and DP have both decided that we're going to try out a few other brands and types over the coming days!

So sorry to hear about your scare. Flowers Glad everything is OK, must have been such a worry. I had fairly intense pain on one side for a couple of days (12 & 13 dpo) so ectopic has very much been in my mind but thankfully so far no pain has reached my shoulder and the one sided pain also seems to have disappeared today. I'm hoping I can get to the scan on 10th Dec without further worry. It sounds as though you have a lovely little plan set out in terms of your arranged scans.

Runsandbuns · 18/11/2024 21:04

Hi All

Wanted to jump on here as saw some December 2025 due date mentions and I'm feeling vvv anxious, this is my first ever BFP after 7 months trying. I'm currently 19 dpo and lines seem to be looking good but this wait until you can have a scan (got a private one booked on 1st December) is terrifying. I'm trying to relax but this is such a nerve wracking period and wanted to just have some people I can talk to about it. 💕

JDecember21 · 18/11/2024 22:02

@sellingupslow thank you so much 🥺 yes - funnily enough it’s completely gone the pain of course 😂 but yes so glad to have ruled out ectopic! At least we know it’s in the correct location. Yes I feel so drained in truth but going to try and start a fresh tomorrow and put it to the back of my mind until the scan… as difficult as that will be x

JDecember21 · 18/11/2024 22:04

@Hall24 hey!! I would say there’s always a chance you could be earlier on than you think. I thought I had my ovulation date sussed out but apparently I was wrong and I’m like 3 days out! The fact is if you have faint lines within the guideline time then you’re pregnant regardless. If you are concerned though you can get your doc to do your bloods as they should double every 2 days :) good luck with everything! 🩷

JDecember21 · 18/11/2024 22:07

@HolyMerlot oh yeah I get it 100%! Interestingly there was a stark difference between that brand and another brand of cheapies… the other brand were way darker from the same urine sample and same test sensitivity so weird!! So basically don’t take it to heart!

ahh thank you so much so glad you’re ok too! I think it’s so easy to think the worst isn’t it but the actual likelihood of these things happening is much much less than things actually going right but doesn’t stop us worrrying!! X

yes indeed :)… I think it’s very reassuring that the hospital actually seems to care and they were honestly so lovely and took care of me today x

JDecember21 · 18/11/2024 22:11

Hi @Runsandbuns I’m about 19 DPO and my tests are exactly the same as yours that progression looks amazing and really consistent. I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience as I’ve never suffered a loss or been pregnant before but those lines look super strong- congratulations! 🩷

it’s easy for me to say as I’ve been worrying so much too but you have to try and look at the positive things that are happening, your tests are darkening now. Book a reassurance scan if it helps and if you are able to, or perhaps get the GP to check bloods if concerned.

however, I’ve found it helpful to remember that yes there is always a chance of something bad happening, but the chance of a successful pregnancy is actually way higher, so the odds are in our favour and each week that goes by those odds get better and better! X
