Trying for another, after a battle the first time round

A bit niche..?

DH and I are back in the ttc game trying for our second, currently ovulating on cycle 3 or 4 (after a chemical at almost 5 weeks last cycle).

With baby 1 it took us 13 long months, which I know isn’t long compared to some, but it really took it out of us mentally. I was doing everything under the sun (you name it, I tried it), DH was hugely feeling the pressure, and we stopped dtd for fun. Ended up pregnant the month after a hycosy.

It’s been so nice to not ttc and get back to dtd to enjoy it, and I said I’d try my best to be more chill this time (& here I am making a thread 🫠) but hard to just “forget” everything I learned last time! So quite nervous about another potential long wait, and the effects of that.

Don’t know anyone else in a similar position, so thought I might find some company here♥️

@RC222x I think the nights would have been way harder if DH hadn't done them all to begin with and I would say that the first two were the hardest and by night 3 he decided if I wasn't there, he was only going to wake up twice 😂

Well, I am still as crazy as ever- I'm guessing I am 5dpo and have just.. yes you guessed it.. tested on a cheapy! Obviously negative 😂😂

Peonies94 · 12/01/2024 16:24

@Babyenroute ahh it’s impossible not to be crazy in this, isn’t it?

so I’ve just had AF arrive at CD 22, looks like no ovulation this month! I guess I’m not ovulating at the moment. This period seems more real’ though! So really hoping for ovulation next month 🤞🏻

Ella31 · 12/01/2024 16:47

Just wondering if I could join your lovely thread. 33 years old, I've had 2 miscarriages and unfortunately lost my twin sons 4 days after birth. Trying again now and currently waiting to ovulate, I've had a little increased cm and flashing smiley on a clearblue. Hoping I'll be lucky this month.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 12/01/2024 18:07

@Peonies94 if your little one is still suckling a lot perhaps whilst your periods have come back, your eggs don't reach full maturity for successful ovulation? Could this be happening? It's still early days ? It is the suckling that triggers the hormone that stops the egg maturing. I have some reading on this from a breastfeeding consultant when I had a discussion re getting my periods and fertility back whilst managing breastfeeding. I'll find it.

RC222x · 13/01/2024 08:08

Haha we've all been there @Babyenroute 🙈😆

Even though I'm spotting I'm still tempted to test.. even though it will literally be a waste and I probably only have a couple more days to wait before AF shows which I'm 99.9% sure it will!

Sorry to hear AF arrived for you @Peonies94 . Atleast it wasn't a super long cycle. Fingers crossed for next month 🤞

Welcome @Ella31 . So sorry to hear about your losses. Sending lots of baby dust and best wishes xx

Babyenroute · 13/01/2024 08:18

Welcome @Ella31 , so sorry to hear about your boys and your miscarriages ❤️

@RC222x I would also be tempted to test in case it is implantation spotting

I think I am 7dpo today but that's just a guess based on being crampy last Saturday (assuming ovulation cramps). If this is a long road again I need to stop myself from getting obsessive! Also, I'm currently looking at new internal jobs and if I decide to take one, I feel I need to put TTC on hold for at least 6 months. If it happens this month (unlikely) that will just be the deciding factor to stay put

RC222x · 14/01/2024 19:51

@Babyenroute I caved and tested at 12DPO! Stark BFN 🙈 completely expected though so role on AF and cycle 2! X

Babyenroute · 14/01/2024 20:13

Sorry to hear about the BFN @RC222x . I tested again today, obviously BFN as probably only 8dpo but I find it easier to test on a cheapy than with hold the urge 😂

hol92 · 15/01/2024 08:44

I am 10dpo and found a Tesco test this morning and hadn't been to the loo yet so thought I would just use it as couldn't help myself! I can see a faint line but have just read reviews that you can get sales positives on these :( now I don't know how to feel and wish I wouldn't have done it! Has anyone used a Tesco test or know of anyone who has? X

Babyenroute · 15/01/2024 11:48

@hol92 wow that certainly looks promising! I have no advice on those particular test but fingers crossed for you!

hol92 · 15/01/2024 12:48

I went got a test from boots which I just did and it's also a faint positive, I don't want to get my hopes up as I know it's very early but I'm so happy! this is cycle 4 and it took us 2 years to conceive our first so I can't quite believe it! I would love to tell my husband tonight as it's his first day in his new job so would just feel like a nice day to tell him but would you wait a little while first? As also don't want to disappoint him if things didn't turn out how I hope they will xx

Babyenroute · 15/01/2024 13:30

@hol92 congratulations!! That's not even so faint! I would tell him, as you may find the support helpful if it doesn't progress also.

RC222x · 15/01/2024 19:51

@hol92 Congratulations!! Did you tell your other half? Xx

hol92 · 15/01/2024 19:55

@RC222x yes I did :) i did a digital test and just placed it with my little boys toys when he went to play with him, he's over the moon! But I have to keep saying to him remember it is very early and don't get too exited
I keep getting period style cramps I'm sure I did with my first but I didn't test until I was late then but now I keep thinking AF will come! X

Ella31 · 15/01/2024 23:12

Ladies, using the easy at home ovulation tests first time this cycle - attached a pic. Am I getting closer to ovulation do you reckon. I know the line has to be darker than control line. Hopefully not too far off that. What do you think. I'm dtd every second night

Trying for another, after a battle the first time round
Babyenroute · 16/01/2024 08:17

Hi @Ella31 I haven't used ovulation tests in a while so hopefully someone more knowledgable will be able to advise but from memory it needs to be quite a bit darker.

I tested today at what I think is 10dpo and it's bfn, which was expected as it's only month 1 and we had 24 cycles before having IVF for my son so not expecting much! For some reason I was still hopeful though 😂

hol92 · 16/01/2024 08:49

I really am regretting testing early now it's not showing on a cheap clear and simple test and I am due on Thursday/Friday I am 11dpo should I be worried about this? :/

I also can't see much of a darker line with these :( regretting telling my husband, how much darker should it be?

The top one is yesterday x

Hi Ladies,

Can I join you please?

I have one DC he is 3 and took 2 years to conceive but got lucky in March 2020.

We started trying when he was 9m old for number 2 so Sept 2021. We had almost two years without success. In that time we did 4 rounds of ovulation induction all tests imaginable and a failed round of ivf with two low quality embryos, one didn't implant one frozen. Then in the July-August cycle I naturally got pregnant after some lifestyle changes. We were over the moon but sadly lost our second little boy when I was 17 weeks pregnant in November. I am currently on cycle one of TTC again 10 DPO and no idea how I'll do this.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 16/01/2024 10:52

@hol92 congratulations- quite clear progression I think! As you know, nothing you can do so try to stay positive. I am sure your husband would want to know and want to support you if the outcome is an early loss. Looks super good for now tho so take it a day at a time and distract yourself!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 16/01/2024 10:54

Gosh what a tricky journey you've had @roro87 - sending hugs. Hope following along on here will provide some support! Everything crossed for you!

tryingfortwo2 · 16/01/2024 12:31

@Ella31 @roro87 welcome both of you, my heart broke reading both of your stories, I’m so sorry for your losses ♥️ keeping everything crossed for a happy, healthy pregnancy for your both really soon.

@hol92 congrats! Progression looks good there, remember that your hcg will be so low just now that even it doubling won’t be a huge amount. Like if you go from hcg10 to 20 in 48hrs, you still won’t see it much change even though it’s perfect? I had a similar worries around 9-12dpo I’m sure, and it was only around 13/14dpo I could see it clearly increasing overnight. If I can find mine I’ll post it, I’m sure at like 10dpo I even convinced myself it had gone backwards!

Hope everyone else is doing okay? ♥️

tryingfortwo2 · 16/01/2024 12:34

@hol92 10dpo am was lighter than 9dpo pm, then 11dpo went back up again. When hcg is so low, even the slightest change in your hydration will alter it. My smu was also always darker than fmu 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know it’s SO hard when you’re in it, but try not to worry too much - just take it day by day, and today you are very much pregnant x

Thank you so much for that reassurance @tryingfortwo2 it really is isn't it I know deep down there is nothing I can do even if the outcome wasn't good but my brain still likes to worry! What are the tests you used? As I took one on the clear and simple strips and it looked completely negative that's why I did another boots one again to make sure it was still positive :)
Definitely make sense about the 48 hours thing, my cycles are between 28 and 30 days so realistically am due any time between Thursday to Saturday so may be why it's low, did you still get period style cramps? X

tryingfortwo2 · 16/01/2024 20:50

@hol92 yeah I did get cramps for the first week or two after my positive, quite low down and heavy feeling. I still sort of feel the heavy feeling now. They were easy@home strips from Amazon ☺️

On to cycle 2 for me! No success first then around, not that I thought there would be.
