Trying for another, after a battle the first time round

A bit niche..?

DH and I are back in the ttc game trying for our second, currently ovulating on cycle 3 or 4 (after a chemical at almost 5 weeks last cycle).

With baby 1 it took us 13 long months, which I know isn’t long compared to some, but it really took it out of us mentally. I was doing everything under the sun (you name it, I tried it), DH was hugely feeling the pressure, and we stopped dtd for fun. Ended up pregnant the month after a hycosy.

It’s been so nice to not ttc and get back to dtd to enjoy it, and I said I’d try my best to be more chill this time (& here I am making a thread 🫠) but hard to just “forget” everything I learned last time! So quite nervous about another potential long wait, and the effects of that.

Don’t know anyone else in a similar position, so thought I might find some company here♥️

Welcome along @Swirls346

How old is your first DC?

Sorry to hear about your chemical fingers crossed it happens for you soon!

tryingfortwo2 · 13/12/2023 12:23

@MerryMissie heres hoping for your Christmas Eve present!

@thejollytrolleydolly thank you for explaining all of that, that’s great to know. I’ll give it into the new year then maybe speak to our doctor. My husband does far better with the “light hearted” approach so I’m not sure if going down that route too soon would stress him a little. I’ll test the waters if this cycle comes to nothing 😂

hi @Swirls346 sorry you’re in this camp, but welcome 💐 and sorry to hear about your chemical, I had one last month and they’re just so cruel. What stage are you at in this cycle?

thejollytrolleydolly · 13/12/2023 12:58

@tryingfortwo2 no worries! I would definitely recommend having the tests done! I've just had my chat with the nurse and she said whilst my progesterone levels are perfect my FSH levels are too high which means I've got low quality eggs 😩 that would explain why I've struggled to fall pregnant all of this time! Me and dp are having to have a full blood screening and he is having his sperm quality tested to see if he is contributing to our troubles too. I feel equal parts relieved and also sad because it's not very likely I will conceive again. I'm about to go google deep diving to see if there's anything that can be done to help lol! Xx

MerryMissie · 13/12/2023 13:11

Aw @thejollytrolleydolly I'm sorry to hear that! I'm very nieve is there anything that can be done to improve the egg quality, I hope your OK xx

thejollytrolleydolly · 13/12/2023 13:19

@MerryMissie thank you, I'm just having a Google and apparently you can take some supplements so I will be ordering them tonight just incase they work! I've just come to the end of my period so I'm guessing how would be a good time to start taking them! Xx

tryingfortwo2 · 13/12/2023 13:31

@thejollytrolleydolly ahh sorry to hear something flagged in your tests, but yeah maybe the positive is that now you have something pinpointed, they can help you? There was someone on another thread here that was told she had low quality eggs, so she started taking coq10 (I think that’s what it’s called) while they waited on further treatment, and said that it takes 3 months to mature your eggs (so would take 3 months of taking it to see a difference) and in the 4th month she fell, and stayed, pregnant. Aware that could be coincidence but a positive story!

@tryingfortwo2 I was just looking at buying some co Q 10 actually! Well I'll definitely be buying it now you have said that! Thank you 😊 I'll try anything if it's going to help me xx

Swirls346 · 13/12/2023 15:42

@MerryMissie He is 2 next week!
How old is your little one?
Really hope it happens soon. X

MerryMissie · 13/12/2023 16:22

Mine is nearly 8!!

tryingfortwo2 · 15/12/2023 20:13

@thejollytrolleydolly hopefully the coQ10 makes a difference 🤞🏻🤞🏻 when are your blood tests?

How is everyone doing today? I’m 8dpo and tested tonight and got the fainted of lines on my test, like so so squinty faint that it could be nothing but it’s not stark white like the one I took last week to check the batch for evaps. So a night of no doubt not sleeping ahead, and going to test with both wonfo and easy@home in the morning. Probably nothing but willing it into existence as hard as I can!

Peonies94 · 15/12/2023 20:51

@tryingfortwo2 ohh let’s see? I hope so 🤞🏻 that would be amazing! Good luck!

tryingfortwo2 · 15/12/2023 21:00

Thanks @Peonies94 tbh it’s so faint you probably won’t even see it on a MN photo but I’ll attach one anyway. V aware of how unlikely it could be, but clinging to hope just now!

Update: line darker this morning at 9dpo, admittedly still v faint. Cautiously optimistic. Will pick up a digital today at some point to take tomorrow or Monday…

Ooooh how exciting!!!! Fingers crossed!!! Whispering congratulations 🥰

I think I'm around 7dpo at the min, massively bloated I look 3 months pregnant! I'm also on holiday in France.... my family are big wine drinkers and I'm watching my intake so 1 or 2 glasses for me, family have been asking why... DM knows we are trying I have just said I'm trying to keep a clear head for the activities we have planned!

Peonies94 · 16/12/2023 08:32

Ahh yes I can see the line in both! Amazing! Good luck 🤞🏻! Keep us posted with the digital!

tryingfortwo2 · 16/12/2023 09:59

Thanks, both. Haven’t told DH and won’t until after af is due (Thursday 🫠) and that line is blazing. Too scared of chemicals but any I’ve had, the faint line hasn’t appeared until much later and never got stronger so I’m cautiously hopeful. So you are the only people who know, as a lose my mind with nerves 😂

@MerryMissie France, that’s lovely! Do you have connections out there or just enjoying a festive break? Well done on the wine front, so tricky to navigate social events at this time of year.

@Peonies94 how are you doing?

OP posts:
MerryMissie · 16/12/2023 12:07

My sister does live here but we're not where she lives were in another part of France having a festive break! It is lovely

Right I promised I wouldn't symptom spot but someone offered me a big bag of crisis and I almost heaved at the smell.... and I feel queasy on and off today....

I'm thinking it's nothing probably my hormones re regulating after the coil....haha

tryingfortwo2 · 16/12/2023 13:33

@MerryMissie that sounds great, when you are home? Or staying away for Christmas?

ohhh 🙊 I wonder if Amazon deliver FRERs to France.. 😂

OP posts:
MerryMissie · 16/12/2023 15:22

Haha ill be home by Tuesday! May be tempted to test Friday instead of Sunday

Peonies94 · 16/12/2023 16:08

Aw good luck! Just patiently waiting for my period to return now and willing to do anything to bring it back, will be trying all the stupid tricks which won’t work and cost me a fortune! I’ve had one recently but I’m CD 50 now and no sign 😔

tryingfortwo2 · 16/12/2023 20:41

@MerryMissie safe travels for Tuesday. If I set a date in my head, I always end up testing the day before - don’t know why I bother.

@Peonies94 auch that’s rotten, I’m really sorry. Waiting around is the worst. Have you tried the YouTube reflexology videos? A friend of mine swears by it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just took this.. no squinting now! Still v nervous, still haven’t told DH. Feel like I need the strip test to be really dark, darker than it could get with a chemical? I don’t know. Probably just always going to be nervous. Also feeling a bit like a fraud making this hand hold thread the month I end up with a bfp (if it sticks🤞🏻).

I actually haven’t tried anything! Going to try getting the baby into her own room and hoping she’ll sleep a little longer between feeds to maybe help periods return, but I’ll check those out!
ahh it’s amazing though! Can’t beat seeing it written down on the digital tests!

MerryMissie · 17/12/2023 07:58

Omg @tryingfortwo2 amazing!!! Did you have any symptoms or anything feel different this month from an AF month?

tryingfortwo2 · 17/12/2023 09:19

@MerryMissie thank you, my strip test is actually a little lighter this morning than last night’s so I’m trying not to spiral currently!

tbh I felt different all tww, I was obsessed, dreaming about getting a bfp, ordered a “big sis” jumper for my toddler because I felt so sure (which is SO not like me, I’m all about not jinxing anything). I think I would’ve been more surprised and so gutted if it was bfn, which I know sounds nuts but I sort of just knew? I’m quite worried now though after this morning’s test, but nothing I can do..

Oh that's the problem here everything feels so precarious fingers crossed that tomorrow the line gets darker again!!
