Trying for another, after a battle the first time round

A bit niche..?

DH and I are back in the ttc game trying for our second, currently ovulating on cycle 3 or 4 (after a chemical at almost 5 weeks last cycle).

With baby 1 it took us 13 long months, which I know isn’t long compared to some, but it really took it out of us mentally. I was doing everything under the sun (you name it, I tried it), DH was hugely feeling the pressure, and we stopped dtd for fun. Ended up pregnant the month after a hycosy.

It’s been so nice to not ttc and get back to dtd to enjoy it, and I said I’d try my best to be more chill this time (& here I am making a thread 🫠) but hard to just “forget” everything I learned last time! So quite nervous about another potential long wait, and the effects of that.

Don’t know anyone else in a similar position, so thought I might find some company here♥️

@tryingfortwo2 @Peonies94 she starting sleeping through more consistently around 2 weeks ago and prior to that we have had a while of just one wake with a very short comfort feed. I think what triggered it was much less day time feeding. She just doesn't suckle for very long now. Must be a real relief that you've conceived quickly @tryingfortwo2 this time.

tryingfortwo2 · 22/12/2023 08:48

@FlyOnTheWall89 I loved feeding so much, we had an awful start but I loved the closeness. I was gutted when she self weaned!

It is a relief for sure, I feel so so grateful. But I’m also really nervous/anxious too. This is a lovely wee thread but sometimes other threads can get a bit overwhelming? MN is wonderful for support but as a result it obviously attracts people (like me!) who have struggled etc, so it can be a bit of an echochamber for bad news 🙈 so many stories of miscarriage and early loss after the stage I’m at now, so I need to look after myself a bit and stop scrolling sometimes.

Well tested with FMU today and BFN! I think I'm out then so await AF in next few days...

FlyOnTheWall89 · 22/12/2023 09:31

@tryingfortwo2 ye just go a day at a time and try not to let your mind control you. We all know there is nothing you can do at this stage but wait and see. I was wildly anxious first time round. I had a few extra scans to temporarily remind myself she was still there. It did get me through between the NHS scans. I also love feeding and am so lucky to have had a really straightforward BF journey so ye it's been a big change for her to want food more than milk and a cuddle. She's always been 65/70th percentile so I have been confident enough to really follow her lead. Hopefully we won't be too far behind you!

tryingfortwo2 · 22/12/2023 09:58

@FlyOnTheWall89 yeah I think I’ll book a scan around the 8 week mark, when having my first I read a stat about miscarriage rate falling off a cliff once you’ve seen a heartbeat & healthy baby at 8 weeks and it stuck with me. I said I’d stop testing but really had the urge this morning so I went with it, and the test line is now as dark as the control which is reassuring.

I have everything crossed this is some magical, lucky thread and will hang around to see how you all get on! ♥️

My baby feeds about 12 times a night! Really hoping to reduce it slowly and hope he starts sleeping a little longer 🤞🏻

FlyOnTheWall89 · 22/12/2023 19:07

Oh @Peonies94 that's a lot - you must be quite exhausted 😴. When we have occasionally Co-slept I do find my girlie drinks more. She's knows I'm there and can have all night access - I do love it though.

tryingfortwo2 · 29/12/2023 12:49

Hi ladies, just checking in. Hope you all had a great Christmas and are doing okay at whatever stage you’re at ♥️

Hi @trytryingfortwo2 hope you had a lovely Christmas. How are you feeling?

AF has been and gone for me and I'm now just waiting for my fertile window so can officially commence trying for #2!

Exactly the same here! Fertile window should start in 2 days and really looking forward to trying for number 2 (I say that now but went stir crazy first time round as it took ages!)

RC222x · 29/12/2023 19:48

Hi @Babyenroute yes mine starts in 2 days time too! It also took me a while first time round (14 months). Fingers crossed we don't have to wait as long this time round 🤞

tryingfortwo2 · 30/12/2023 11:30

@RC222x @Babyenroute ahh how exciting! Got everything crossed for you both that it happens quickly 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’m okay thank you, nauseous all day every day but totally manageable level. Anxious, for a multitude of reasons, including the mild symptoms compared to number 1 at this point haha. My best friend was 3 weeks ahead of me and miscarried at 7weeks last weeK so that’s really sad, and very scary too. But DD keeping me busy and I’m trying not to let my head run away with me!

Did you all have a lovely Christmas?

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 30/12/2023 19:37

I've just had my first 'proper' post baby period. Felt more like my usual period so I guess we get going in January! I think we will try to just take it easy for a bit and not track etc, just go with the natural signs and see what happens. Hoping we don't have to wait so long this time.

@tryingfortwo2 you're managing so well. So sad for your best friend. When are you going for a scan?

Christmas has been hectic but wonderful - the baby has been centre of attention at all times and I'm sure she will find January very boring in comparison! D

tryingfortwo2 · 30/12/2023 21:52

@FlyOnTheWall89 thats exciting! Fingers crossed for you, and well done for setting yourself up to go into it relaxed too.

So sad. She was round today and she obviously and understandably can’t really acknowledge I’m pregnant, and I inwardly found it a bit hard talking about what she’s gone through as it’s a bit too close to home currently. She was bang on 7 weeks and had spotting, went to EPU and measured 6wks with no HB but they said that could be normal, so she was in limbo and told to come back 2wks later, but about 5 days in had really heavy bleeding. Back on Tuesday for her final scan. It’s so so sad for them, and (this is so selfish) has ramped my anxiety up a notch.

I was going to wait until 8 weeks but we’re going away with really close friends for the weekend when I’m 7.5 and they’re friends we would tell early if we saw them, so I think I’ll book a reassurance scan before we go.

Glad baby has had a wonderful time! Ours is the same, we’re off until the 8th and every day now we’re trying to find activities to entertain her as she’s so used to all the festivities.

RC222x · 31/12/2023 13:17

Hi @tryingfortwo2 Glad to hear the symptoms are manageable. I booked a reassurance scan with my DS at 9weeks as I barely had any symptoms at all. Can completely understand feeling anxious but good your DD and Christmas has been keeping you busy 😊

So sorry to hear about your friends miscarriage. It's not selfish to feel anxious at all.

Best of luck @FlyOnTheWall89

Hope everyone has a lovely New Year! Sending best wishes and baby dust to all! X

Peonies94 · 31/12/2023 17:29

@FlyOnTheWall89 yayy I just had a period too, and not sure I ovulated last month, but hoping this is a true cycle 🤞🏻
@tryingfortwo2 aww so sad about your friend, it’s such an anxious time isn’t it!

here’s hoping now that I’ve had a period hopefully this cycle may be shorter and hopefully I’ll ovulate! Here’s to beginning my journey just as we head into 2024!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 31/12/2023 18:46

@tryingfortwo2 that is so tough. I'm sure it will get a little easier for you both with time and fingers crossed for her going forward!

@Peonies94 amazing! Yay! I had a very light bleed about 6 weeks ago and then this felt like a proper period. So great to be back trying again at the same time.

@RC222x @MerryMissie Here's to a 2024 full of BFPs ladies ✨💫

Peonies94 · 31/12/2023 20:55

@FlyOnTheWall89 i can’t believe we are both back here sand time again! Today I started with my ovusense and OPK’s, it seems like only the other day I was here trying for baby 1!

RC222x · 04/01/2024 18:13

Well I am in my first 2ww for baby number 2! I actually ovulated earlier than I anticipated going off the easy at home tests. Luckily managed to dtd the day of the peak and day before so hopefully I'm still in with a chance. Easy at home peak recorded a low number though so not sure if that is a bad indicator. Trying not to read into it too much. Time will tell!

Hope everyone is doing ok xx

MerryMissie · 05/01/2024 18:53

Ooh exciting @RC222x fingers crossed!!!

I'm on CD9. I know I'm not in fertile time but we're making it a missing to dtd every day 😅
Why not!!

Peonies94 · 05/01/2024 21:20

Had my static smile today and 5 days of flashing, it’s early for me so not sure if it’s accurate! Im temping so time will tell soon! I usually ovulate 2-3 days after peak so @RC222x potentially be joining you in the TWW ! Really hoping it’s accurate and temps will match up!

RC222x · 06/01/2024 19:55

I think I had forgotten how long the 2ww can feel 🙈😂

Haha why not indeed @MerryMissie if you are both up for it go for it! My hubby started feeling ropey second half of the week, so we didn't manage to dtd after the 2 peak days. Fingers crossed but not holding out much hope for this first cycle.

Welcome to the 2ww @Peonies94 ! Hope everything matches up!

How are you @tryingfortwo2 ? X

tryingfortwo2 · 06/01/2024 21:27

@RC222x the tww is the longest waiting game possible - it has to be! Also we stopped dtd the day of peak (dtd the 3 days before peak, 1 day before peak, peak day) and conceived so 🤞🏻🤞🏻 there’s lots of science saying that even dtd the day you ovulate is already too late and that the sperm absolutely need to be waiting for the egg, so before o-day is the best time 🤞🏻

I’m okay thank you, but so unwell 🤢 nauseous 24/7. I’ve got pills from the doctor but they’re not touching it so think I’ll call them on Monday. Early pregnancy with a toddler should be an Olympic sport!

tryingfortwo2 · 06/01/2024 21:28

p.s. have everything crossed for all of you, and will eagerly await updates!

@MerryMissie DTD every day is very impressive - my husband would tell me where to go 😂

OP posts:
Peonies94 · 06/01/2024 22:04

@tryingfortwo2 that’s interesting! We covered the day of peak, but think ovulation may be two days after? But will continue to hopefully cover the next 2 days as well and hope we see a rise in temp!
@RC222x thanks, not quite there yet! Potentially ovulating tomorrow? I’m not sure! 🙏 really hoping so!

just wishing the next few days away now, just hoping my bbt matches my surge on the CB tests and thst ovulation is actually happening! Then if it does, I’ll be wishing the next 2 weeks away! Ttc is just a battle of wishing time away and stress!🤦🏻‍♀️
