You're a braver woman than me, Flea!

I have a complete fast once a month, no breakfast, lunch or dinner, or anything inbetween the nothings. Plenty of fluid. It seems to work better for me than cutting down because when I resolve to cut down, I eat more snacks, fruit mostly but I cannot do without nuts, and when I resolve only to eat at meal times, somehow I manage to make myself eat bigger portions... It's difficult in its own way, hungry, hungry, hungry, but much easier to stick to, and I wake up the following morning less hungry than normal and am then able to do the cutting down more easily. Another bonus is feeling more energetic sometime during the afternoon of the fast day, and getting done all those things that have been shoved into shoeboxes in a dash to tidy up for MIL.

I always got worried about whether exercise can hurt fertility. They reckon you shldnt do anything strenous......hmn.

decorativeD2Bmum · 07/01/2007 15:43

not doing to well so far, i have gained 2 pounds..considering i didnt put any on over xmas and have been ill the past week that is not a good sign!

will be starting my new healthy lifestyle as from tomorrow.

good luck girls!

nomoremagnolia · 07/01/2007 19:52

surely exercise has got to be a good thing? I'm starting yoga next week (which I know you can do into the late stages of pregnancy), and swimming (ditto) in the spring when it's warmer! When I did yoga a year ago there was a lady who was pg and her labour ws only 30 mins, she put it down to yoga!
The only thing I've been told is to take care when you are pg and not try to do anything more than what your body is already used to. eg if you already run, carry on, if you only walk, pregnancy is not the time to start running. oh, and don't do sit-ups, your tummy muscles need to pull apart when you're pg (to make room for the bump), so it's counter productive to make them strong!

babylove123 · 07/01/2007 20:22

Yeh obv swimming and yoga are 2 of the best forms of exercise to do when pg. I meant things like going to the gym, boxercise etc. when im pg i want to go to ante-natal water aerobics (spelling?!), obv i hope there are other tubby mums to be there!

greedyformincepies · 07/01/2007 20:28

oh dear.... i have seen this thread title but been avoiding it. i havent dieted for the past 9 months cos STUPIDLY i kept expecting to get pg every month and i thought....whats the point in losing weight if i am going to get pg and put it all back on again anyway. i guess as ttc is taking so long i should finally start dieting cos i have gained about 1 stone since starting to ttc!
ok....i hate this bit......5ft 10.....11 stone 10lbs
i will try to be good! i feel so fat at the moment and i hate it

nomoremagnolia · 07/01/2007 20:29

can't see a prob with going to gym etc if you're ttc, do they have any instructors there you can ask for advice about what exercises are ok when ttc?

greedyformincepies · 07/01/2007 20:30

i am sorry girls.........i am so used to lying about my weight i couldn't bring myself to write down my real weight on here. how stupid i dont even know you?
its just when you are tall, your weight always sounds so much!....i was 12stone exactly when i weighed myself this morning.......AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH! i would love to be 11 stone as that is nice size 12

babylove123 · 07/01/2007 20:32

Hey Greedy,

Those were my thoughts, "whats the point of losing weight when you're gonna be pg!". Haha 6 months on and thinking of how much weight i cld have lost!!!!

Hmn, my local gym are run by muppets really plus this is a local town and no one knows we're ttc so it wld be a bad move!

nomoremagnolia · 07/01/2007 20:43

I'm joining a new gym (we've just moved) so if you like I will ask them at my induction and pass on the wisdom. going for induction wed pm, so will post back then if you've not found out anymore by then. hth.

fleacircus · 08/01/2007 09:32

I know the feeling Greedy - but if it makes you feel better I am about as tall as you and a fair whack heavier... in fact do check your BMI on that site because it sounds to me as if you'd be right in the 'healthy weight' range.

Running went better than expected - my plan was to try to get myself in decent shape while ttc so that hopefully once I am pg there's less chance I'll turn into a house.

DH has a rowing machine which I use on and off; does anyone know whether I can carry on with that once I'm pg?

cedar12 · 08/01/2007 13:03

Also started diet last week lost 2lb in 3 days then put it back on again but i am due on. Anyway the weigh in is 11stone 8 1/2 lbs and i am 5`7. Just workrd out my bmi and offically over weight also worked out my husbands and his was higher ha ha. I would be happy with about 10stone 9lb. Would love to fit into al my size12 clothes. If it stop raining I will go for a run tonight and maybe a brisk walk to the shop to buy some ovulation tests not that this taking over my life or any thing. I was 10 1/2 stone before I got pregnant with my dd and I thought that was heavy little did I know.

PinkElephant · 08/01/2007 13:07

I'm munching my way through a first bowl of salad this year and large glass of water. Its vile!!! Want carbs!!! Craving toast smothered in butter. Boo hoo. I'm soo bloated, not sure whether its what I've eaten over the last few weeks, wouldn't mind but haven't been able to drink alcohol for the last 2 wks or whether it post ectopic belly???

PinkElephant · 08/01/2007 13:09

P.S - weigh in is 10stone 6lbs (5ft 10inch). Got running stuff for xmas but can't do strenuous excersise for a month. I'm gonna be huge by the end of Jan

cedar12 · 08/01/2007 13:10

Also just had a lovely salad and really enjoyed it(honest). Rains getting worse maybe the rowing machine will have to come out.

cedar12 · 08/01/2007 13:14

Pink elephant your weight sounds fine look after your self and enjoy a few treats. The bloating after the surgery does get better i promise. Mine took a while before it stopped looking like a jelly. Mine looks like a jelly now but that to much chocolate! Take it easy.

PinkElephant · 08/01/2007 16:28

Cedar12 - no honestly nothing fastens up and thighs are far too wobbly!! I luckily didn't have any surgery so I don't why I'm such as bloater. I was so careful over christmas as I was preganant at the time.

greedyforbabies · 08/01/2007 21:34

just had a salad just had a salad! i feel virtuous!

greedyforbabies · 08/01/2007 21:35

greedyforbabies · 08/01/2007 21:35

i will get the munchies soon and blow it all!!!

babylove123 · 08/01/2007 22:16

Nomore, that'd be great! Would like to know what exercises are good during pg I got a dvd called "yummy mummy" for pregnancy. Wont look @ it till im pg tho so cant tell u whats on it!!!

hehe greedy, i like the diet, salad + wine!

Roskvawantingsomesunshine · 09/01/2007 10:06

Blast, seem to have b***ed my knee - impressive, as I was asleep at the time (no, I am not joking, I woke up in agony with my leg in a strange position). Anyway struggled out with the dog and the baby in the rain, and came back to a humble bowl of muesli. I weigh exactly the same as this time last week .

Ready · 09/01/2007 13:28

I have not been posting my daily intake, but I have been writing it all down, which is just the same I guess. I don't always have a chance to come online...

Anyone know where Natty is???????

Well, I lost two lbs last week... so off to a good start let's hope I can keep it up.

How's everyone else doing??

Sorry to hear about your knee Roksva... how strange. Take it easy.

cedar12 · 09/01/2007 17:51
