'TTC after a miscarriage - new thread'

Janus · 30/10/2006 17:58

Well tried to add my bit to old thread and we have reached 1000 posts again!!
Chocolatepeanut, am so sorry for what you are going through, although you sound as if you are handling it well so far. Hope things aren't too bad for you in the coming days.
Rubles, sorry if AF does arrive, bloody bitch! My blood tests will be next week. DP sperm test threw up 'abnormal sperm' and he needs to go and discuss with the GP later this week although she did say it wasn't too much to worry about. Been meaning to start a new thread on this but haven't got around to it.
I'm looking for a yoga class to try and help me relax! Do think this whole TTC is stressing me out so much, I'm so conscious of age gaps, both our ages working against us, even worrying about if we do conceive in next couple of months as worked out it would be a July or August baby (my oldest is July born and is struggling bit with school etc). Part of me thinks it may do us all some good if I just stop ttc for a couple of months, then the other half panics about an even bigger gap, etc!!
How on earth do you all manage to relax about all this stuff??

Babyfettle

I do watch DP fight. Its really good fun. However its quite different in amateur boxing compared to pro. They have to wear head guards so its a lot less dangerous-and they are lighter-no heavyweights so its a lot safer. Don't like watching pro fights on TV. Looks so violent!

AF ARRIVED TODAY SO CD1 FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!

rubles · 03/11/2006 09:33

Edie - hooray!! No more uncertainty for you. We just need D4phne to get hers now.

Babyfettle - I don't know if you'll see this but I hope you don't argue too much. I know sometimes that 'getting used to each other again' adjustment phase often leads to teething problems, I remember that from when dp worked away, but hopefully you'll get some nice making-up nooky in there somewhere. Have a lovely time.

Janus - I read your post about dp's sperm with exasperation. It really rang bells with the sort of disorganisation and confusion that seems to reign at my local GPs. Frustrating, isn't it. Did you not get any figures about count and motility? There was some information about this on another thread on the ttc boards - I think it was on one of the TCOYF threads - someone had posted details about results from sperm analysis and what they mean. It may have been Babymad2Ds, can't remember, but it is in there somewhere and may help you..?
On the subject of going private, it might be worth starting a new thread on that topic to open it to a wider audience. I think I have read advice in the past about people getting the basic tests done through the NHS and when they have those then going on to a private consultant.
I know there have been posts on MN giving fairly detailed ideas of costs if you do a search.
Why don't you get your Dr to refer you anyway, and while you are waiting for your first appointment you could think what you want to do. I was looking at a wait of about 3 months for my first appointment, but I found out after ringing up that they have a cancellation list that I put my name on. I was number 12 on the list but got an appointment the following week - so once referred you might be able to move it forward.
As you know I am already in the system with my tests. We are waiting for our sperm test results, but if the next appointment to get these is going to be another 2/3 months then I think that I then might start to consider going private.

I hope everyone else is well and coping with whatever stage of the ttc/recovery from miscarriage journey they are at. I think I have decided to take a break and cut down on my Mumsnet access. I am going to try to not come on for a few weeks at all (...famous last words!!..). I am wondering if, although this place is a great support because it makes me feel less alone, maybe it doesn't help with the whole ttc obsession. I'll pop back in and out, but I want to try to keep it balanced - I've been coming on far too much recently.

Uki · 03/11/2006 09:50

d4phne · 03/11/2006 10:53

Babyfettle I can very much understand how you feel. About your dilemma do you feel you do not have enough quality time with your DD? I have a friend who went part time to have more time with her DD and now she feels that although they spend more time together they have less quality time. I think if you feel you want to spend more time with DD, take action. Good that you will bring it up with your boss!

Rubles I totally understand that you might have to reduce your dosage of MN for now. Thank you so much for being the first one to anser my message when I came to MN in distress. I will never forget it and send you all my gratitude. And, if you ever need support, please log in we will be here!!!!!

Edie -- what a relief for you!!!! and ! I celebrate for you and dearly hope I'll follow you in four days. I guess you are TTC right away? Talked to DH and he wants TTC right away, is waiting for AF so he can book a flight. I have seldom seen him so determined Haven't agreed yet, will probably need more time...,but it's good to see him take action. Everybody, send me lots of AF thoughts!!!!!

Good luck Uki and Pinkranger. Oinker, can't remember now but did you get an earlier appt and, if so, how did it go?
Rubles, sorry to hear you are leaving the discussions for a while (don't know if you will even see this). I know you have the tube viewing thingy (can't remember technical term!!) this week so hope it's not too uncomfortable and that it 'clears the way' for good things to happen for you.
I've also decided to take a break from ttc for next couple of months, this month we have had a pathetic attempt!! Decided as we are going to Paris in a few weeks (without the kids )and xmas dos, etc, coming up I'd rather relax and drink and enjoy myself and start again in the new year. Have bought a clearblue fertility thingy but it's in its box until next year! Let's hope the relaxing and starting again later works, hope you'll keep us informed Rubles.
Firstar, how are you doing? I think you must be in the 2 ww now too? Good luck again.
I won't be able to resist coming on here to just check on BFP's every few days so fingers are crossed for all of you xx
