'TTC after a miscarriage - new thread'

Well tried to add my bit to old thread and we have reached 1000 posts again!!
Chocolatepeanut, am so sorry for what you are going through, although you sound as if you are handling it well so far. Hope things aren't too bad for you in the coming days.
Rubles, sorry if AF does arrive, bloody bitch! My blood tests will be next week. DP sperm test threw up 'abnormal sperm' and he needs to go and discuss with the GP later this week although she did say it wasn't too much to worry about. Been meaning to start a new thread on this but haven't got around to it.
I'm looking for a yoga class to try and help me relax! Do think this whole TTC is stressing me out so much, I'm so conscious of age gaps, both our ages working against us, even worrying about if we do conceive in next couple of months as worked out it would be a July or August baby (my oldest is July born and is struggling bit with school etc). Part of me thinks it may do us all some good if I just stop ttc for a couple of months, then the other half panics about an even bigger gap, etc!!
How on earth do you all manage to relax about all this stuff??

Jossiejump · 16/02/2007 21:34

The door will fall off, or we'll bring our doom and alcohol here!
I think my wine is taking too much effect, it is taking me longer to correct my typing mistakes!

feedmenow · 16/02/2007 21:43

Smelling pistakes! What smelling pistakes?

Jossiejump · 16/02/2007 22:27

That's the state I'm in now-phoned DH ay work a few minutes ago as I knew that I'd be too p*ed soon. (sorry I'm in this mood tonight) will apologise and grovel with a hangover tomorrow.

Catbabymummy · 17/02/2007 08:27

My period started last night
At least I know when I'll be ovulating next, I guess.

feedmenow · 17/02/2007 10:00

Sorry to hear that Catbaby. But like you say, now you kow where you are in your cycle, and your body will probably appreciate that little bit of extra time to heal (although I realise that the reality is "sod the healing, I wanna be pg now!" cos thats where I'm at now )

Mumpbump · 17/02/2007 12:24

Duchesse - I agree that some GP's can be crap. I would refuse to see our duty doctor now - ds had a virus and had had a high temperature for a few days. The temperature came down and the following day he had a rash. There has been a measles outbreak in our county so I took him to the doc's to be told by the duty doctor that it was a heat rash! What bullsh*it, I thought so took him back to the hospital on an access pass that they'd issued a couple of days before and the paediatrician said it was a viral rash and to watch out for breathing difficulties in case of measles. I now understand that viral rashes are very common and am extremely underwhelmed by the duty doctor's diagnosis... My mum actually kept the family registered with the previous doctor when we moved 10 miles away 'cos she was happy with him and didn't want to wind up with a crap one. Another NHS lottery!!

Catbabymummy · 17/02/2007 14:24

Feedmenow -

Mumpbump - glad we've moved as previous gp surgery was rubbish, nightmare trying to get appointment, receptionists always made you feel like you were wasting GPs time! New practice is great!

feedmenow · 17/02/2007 18:05

Catbaby, sorry if you don't want to think toomuch about this, but when did you m/c? If I remember, it was a week or so before me (found out 13th Jan, ERPC 19th Jan)? Just wondering cos I want to know when I should expect AF, although I obviously realise that everyone is different.....
Have just posted a bit of a rant in The Hut as I've been feeling crappy today. I worry that I'm obsessing a bit about getting pg again when I'm so obviously not over m/c....

Catbabymummy · 17/02/2007 18:32

Yes, I think you are right, I m/c 17th Jan, period started yesterday so 4 and half weeks later. EPAC nurse told me to expect it 3-5 weeks after the m/c so just about right.
The really annoying thing for me is that I had a feeling I had ovulated 2 weeks ago, and we missed it...

gillian1973 · 18/02/2007 18:06

My period came within 23 days of the mc which totally freaked me out . The EPAC nurse told me it would be 5-6 wks so I thought the mc was happening all over again. It was just as heavy too (sorry TMI). Catbabymummy, be warned that your periods will be out of kilter for a few cycles too. So the advice of bding as much as possible is now more relevant than ever.

Just seen you are a Stockton lass! I live in Newcastle!

Catbabymummy · 18/02/2007 18:11

I have to say period hasn't been particularly heavy, I know a lot of people have said that their pmt symptons have been worse the 1st period after a m/c but it's been business as usual with me. Unlike my first period after stopping the Depo Provera - that was horrible, very heavy and horrible cramps kept me bedridden (though not nearly as bad as the m/c).
But yes will take your advice and dh and I will be doing it as often as possible..

feedmenow · 20/02/2007 21:36

Has everyone given up ttc after m/c? Or are you all v. busyttc after m/c as we speak

Catbabymummy · 20/02/2007 22:09

I've still got a few days until the shagfest begins.
I need something to do in the meantime so I think I'll take up knitting.
I think everyone else in lurking in the Hut!

lulu1414 · 21/02/2007 19:50

Hi all- I don't know where I belong! I have no idea if I should be TTC or even if its possible. Keeping my fingers crossed and going for it anyway. Seeing a gynae for a second opinion to see if the Asherman's diagnosis was right (heavy sigh), but have to wait a couple of weeks for that. Good luck to all!

Catbabymummy · 22/02/2007 07:06

Thanks, and to you too. Join us here anyway, though it has been a bit quiet of lately. I think there is a lot of winter blues going around so we're still hiding in the hut.
My period has finished now, so will start BDing at the weekend. Go little egg! Go little swimmers!

feedmenow · 23/02/2007 12:10

Please can I have some "first period after m/c" advice?
AF arrived Tues am....I used 2 regular tampons during the day which weren't used to saturation, a pad overnight (which wasn't needed at all) and 1 tampon yesterday which, when removed, displayed some pink discharge as opposed to blood. Nothing needed last night, and nothing today.
My ERPC was on 19th Jan and I bled for about 12 days. My "period" arrived 19 days later. Was it just really light cos there was only 19 days worth of build up?

Catbabymummy · 23/02/2007 12:17

Hi Feedmenow,
My period started on the Friday, and finished by the Tuesday, and it did seem lighter than usual. Maybe that is typical of 1st after a m/c. Someone on here, forget who, did say that even if you were regular before, it might take a couple of months to settle down. Hence DH and I will be shagging constantly for the next week or so - not taking any chances!

Catbabymummy · 23/02/2007 12:20

Oh, I should mention that I didn't have an ERPC. I bled for 7 days from the start of the m/c and my period came 18 days after I finished bleeding. So you could be right - from the sound of it, my period was heavier than yours, but not as heavy as usual.
Were you getting flashbacks to m/c bleed? I did it, it was awful, all the memories just came flooding back
BTW apologies to everyone else if TMI!

jess1996 · 23/02/2007 16:50

Hi everyone, Thought I'd join your thread if you don't mind. I've had a traumatic week. 12 week scan on Saturday showed that my pregnancy had not developed beyond 7 weeks. I went into hospital and had a medically induced miscarriage which was painful and unpleasant, but I'm glad I didn't have an ERPC. I'm feeling lots better today and bleeding has nearly stopped (only 48 hrs since discharged from hospital). It was my 1st pregnancy though and took 5 months to conceive. I was absolutely devastated at first, but I think I'm beginning to accept what has happened and I need to move forward. For me I think the best thing will be to try again straightaway. I think I'm supposed to wait until 1st AF, but I don't think I can bear to wait. I expect I won't get pregnant straight away, but I'm prepared to take the chance. One more (slightly embarassing) thing - has anyone had a m/c induced by drugs (two different ones, can't remember the names, but both begin with the letter 'm') and had bad constipation afterwards {blush]?

Catbabymummy · 23/02/2007 17:27

Hi Jess, I'm so sorry for your loss hunni {{{hug}}}, it's okay to feel bad, just be gentle with yourself.
I let nature take its course so can't help you with the drugs, why not give the EPAC a ring and ask them, did they not give you any leaflets which described possible side effects?
I totally understand what you mean about restarting TTC straight away, that's what I did. Do whatever you think is best for you.
I too was trying for my first, in fact still am! My miscarriage was about 5.5 weeks ago, my period came along a week ago.
Best of luck to you.

Catbabymummy · 23/02/2007 21:57

Woohoo, dh is lying here naked ready for a spot of baby making!

Busybean · 23/02/2007 22:04

Just wanted to add to this thread that I have two beautiful boys. Conceived after 4 traumatic mc's and lots of fertility testing and scans and one hysteroscopy(sp?)(bloody painful!) Please have hope and know that sometimes, the time isnt right. I felt devastated with each and every one of my mc's, and so so scared throughout the first 20 weeks of ds1 pregnancy. As it is now, its hard to remember what I went through, and have ended up with the two most beautiful boys.
babydust to all xxxxxxxxx

Catbabymummy · 24/02/2007 09:15

Thanks for your wishes, and congrats on your 2 lovely children.

gillian1973 · 27/02/2007 10:13

This thread is quiet at the moment!

Can anyone tell me how long it took for your cycle to settle down after mc? I mc in Oct and I finally thought I was back to a 26 day cycle but I seem to be alternating between 24 and 26 for the past few months.
