'TTC after a miscarriage - new thread'

Well tried to add my bit to old thread and we have reached 1000 posts again!!
Chocolatepeanut, am so sorry for what you are going through, although you sound as if you are handling it well so far. Hope things aren't too bad for you in the coming days.
Rubles, sorry if AF does arrive, bloody bitch! My blood tests will be next week. DP sperm test threw up 'abnormal sperm' and he needs to go and discuss with the GP later this week although she did say it wasn't too much to worry about. Been meaning to start a new thread on this but haven't got around to it.
I'm looking for a yoga class to try and help me relax! Do think this whole TTC is stressing me out so much, I'm so conscious of age gaps, both our ages working against us, even worrying about if we do conceive in next couple of months as worked out it would be a July or August baby (my oldest is July born and is struggling bit with school etc). Part of me thinks it may do us all some good if I just stop ttc for a couple of months, then the other half panics about an even bigger gap, etc!!
How on earth do you all manage to relax about all this stuff??

Greetings all

Great to hear your news Uki! I can't wait to get to 13 weeks. I am now 11 weeks and had my midwife appt and scans at 10w

  • 5days. Everything looked fine.

D4phne - anger is a very natural response to what you've been through. You've been through so much more than most of us. After my 2 ERPC's last year, I had to take 6 months off TTC because one of them was diagnosed as a partial molar pregnancy. In some ways it was a blessing as I had time to emotionally as well as physically heal. Be gentle with yourself, pamper yourself... (I had lots of reflexology!)

we're off on holiday to Cape Town for 3 weeks, and I look forward to catching up again with everyone when I'm back. xx j

Catbabymummy · 11/02/2007 12:56

Uki - congrats on getting to 13 weeks!
Zimbo - congrats on getting to 11 weeks! Hope you have a lovely holiday.

Well know BNP and no BD atm due to me having a stinking cold and feeling like death warmed up, plus stressed as f**k about work. Still I keep telling myself that there are people worse off than me, like Lissie
I sure hope she's going to be okay!

Uki · 12/02/2007 10:57

Hi All
Guess what I've been doing? Oragnizing a tropical holiday, see it was on my mind. I'd like some r&r. I'm quite excited, have a resort in fiji on my mind mmmmm. Anyone going to join me?
Spent all day doing passport stuff, they expired last year, what a hassle.

Catbaby- i hope your cold goes away and you feel better soon.

Wow there are alot of us pg on here, great news, but no wonder there's the hut of gloom. I so remember the ttc anguish. Hoping for more BFP's real soon

duchesse · 12/02/2007 12:04

Er...just double-checking, but a very faint positive is still a positive, right?

feedmenow · 12/02/2007 12:37

Yep, a faint positive is still a positive. Anything you need to tell us Duchesse.....?

Mumpbump · 12/02/2007 12:43

I posted a separate thread, but it has dropped off active conversations. Just to let you know that I have arranged some flowers to be delivered to Lissielou on Saturday from "all of us"...

Mumpbump · 12/02/2007 12:44

Duchesse - have you got a bfp?????

duchesse · 12/02/2007 12:50

Erm...not big, or fat, but very faint. Am off teh thyroid clinic for the first time this afternoon, and today my period should be just about due, so I tested just to know if I should pass that info on to the clinic in case it affected my treatment. And there is a positive test line, which is a mystery to me, as I did not think I'd even ovulated at all this month...

Dunno. Not holding my breath, frankly.

)))))))))))))))))))))))HUGS(((((((((((((((((

I hope to be joining in for real in a few months.

Janus · 13/02/2007 19:23

Hello Oinker, we were wondering where you were, how's the weight loss going? I had my HSG yesterday and can totally relate to your posting about it, f**k it was painful! They had to 'clamp' my cervix too, I really think you should have some sort of anaesthetic for that, sod the parcetemol, it didn't touch the pain! Good luck and hope you are pg by your visit in June.

minx69 · 15/02/2007 14:49

Hi ladies,

been a while I know... TTC just gets too stressful for me at times.

Sad to see some familiar names but also glad to notice some absense's I hope that means BFP's abound!

Am back cos Im off to the docs tomorrow (11mths now with 2 early mc's a while back) and have no idea what to say/ask etc???

Any help greatly appretiated!

Catbabymummy · 15/02/2007 16:07

Hi Minx,
No advice I'm afraid, just wanted to wish you luck for tomorrow, hope doc can help.
Yes there has been a few bfps, as far as I'm aware, I suspect there are a few lurkers, not wanting to jinx themselves by joining the antenatal clubs too early (I did that when I first fell pg, and vowed that when I fell pg again, I won't be joining an AN club so early again!).

duchesse · 15/02/2007 19:34

Not forgetting those of us who have defected to the Hut of Doom...

Uki · 16/02/2007 10:53

Hi

Duchesse-any darker lines yet?

Hi Oinker- You sound very focused. Keep up the hard work and best of luck.

Cat- good luck to you too.

how is everyone else?

duchesse · 16/02/2007 15:15

Nope, and period started last night. Just as expected. At least I got as far as actual lines this time- the other (estimated, going on symptoms) 15-20 pregnancies I've miscarried at 4 weeks over the last 3.5 years have never been that acknowledged... I have just discovered a site about thyroid problems and early miscarriage/infertility which I'm leaving just here in case it helps anybody. If your TSH as measured in a thryoid function test is any higher than 2, then it could seriously affect your fertility. Most doctors seem unaware of this, so ask yours about it if you have "unexplained" infertility and they haven't tested your thyroid!

Mumpbump · 16/02/2007 15:28

Minx - I asked my doctor whether I could get any tests after having had 2 m/c and she said no, but she would definitely refer me if I had a third. Hope you get something more satisfactory out of your doctor!!

Duchesse - sorry you got your af. I was quite excited for you there... Your Hut is pretty densely populated it seems!! I'm having an early scan next week so depending on what that throws up, I might or might not be joining you in there...

Have a good weekend all!!

Catbabymummy · 16/02/2007 16:06

Minx - how did you get on at the docs?

duchesse · 16/02/2007 19:05

MumpBump- I first went to the GP in April 2005, complaining of infertility, weight gain, lump in the throat, inertia and various other symptoms. He asked me what I thought it was (standard GP cop-out these days, but they are expecting people to be using Dr Google as well...). I said I thought it was the thyroid, he sent for tests, the tests were "negative" (ie showed no abnormality), and he offered me anti-depressants (which I declined...).

Roll on to September, when I revisitthe GP after bleeding at 8 weeks pregnant. The female GP I see have been super. Anyway, I went back to the GP in January after the miscarriage to report further weight gain, headaches, and hair loss. It was then that further thyroid tests were ordered, which showed that I was indeed hypothyroid.

So, if you are wondering about whether or not you are hypothyroid, don not bother your gp with something as trivial as miscarriages, take them a real problem like thinning hair.

< /sarcastic cow mode >

I'll get back to the Hut now.

Catbabymummy · 16/02/2007 19:11

Incidentally, someone told me if you suspect underactive thyroid and it comes back negative, test and test again. Your thyroid levels fluctuate wildly, it's the avergae level that causes you problems. That's why it is difficutl for them to get uour dosage right.

Jossiejump · 16/02/2007 21:03

Looks like Duchesse and I are both popping in and out of the hut tonight.
My saga of misery-

Basically-m/c April and August last year with a haemhorrage thrown in for good measure. Had tests, which showed a slight clotting prob (Although I have got DS1 aged 6 and DS2 aged 3).

Positive pg test last Saturday, so duly saw consultant and started to give myself the required blood thinning injections and had to have hcg tests every other day, levels haven't been rising very much and found out today that they'd dropped, ~I'd had a chemical pg and that I will have a "heavy period" soon.

EPU has been fantastic, but I hurt so much. I know I've been lucky to have my boys, but I always wanted another and have now lost 3 babies.
Why do I put myself through this,
Life is C**p
