Not been on much lately but I've been told I have to rest more now so I should be here a lot! On the sofa with netbook, phone and kindle now. Baby is all well, blood pressure is doing ok just slightly raised but nothing to worry about. She is measuring large still but moving nicely and all seems well with her. 26+3 today I think! Feeling a bit off tonight, having some braxton hicks (at least I hope they are!) which are quite strong and a bit painful and achy so I've taken some paracetamol and seeing what happens. Thinking I may have overdone it hence dh's orders of the sofa and resting.

razz ooh I wouldn't, it stings my legs let alone anywhere else!

ciwi I'd get the swollen hands looked at, especially if it's come on quickly. I'm not bothering with antenatal classes and didn't after my first (only saw 3 of those classes as she was born early) but some people like them. Hope things are ok with you.

jane (hugs) do things the way you want and need to, don't worry about anything else. You need to be kind to yourself xx

Too sounds like you're having a really stressful time of it right now, not what you need :( It makes everything more difficult and brings it all up again when you have those meetings (hugs)

fan hope the carpet fitting doesn't take too long tomorrow

august that's wonderful news! Congratulations! So pleased for you :o

spilt I always get piles when pregnant, they did go afterwards though but took many months!

ciwi · 13/12/2011 18:22

Hi cheese glad baby is moving well, you rest up, hope the braxton hicks settle down. I have days where I seem to get a lot of them, I read somewhere that the baby can trigger them by moving a lot so that may be why you are getting them today. I saw the consultant yesterday and had a Doppler scan plus bp check and all is fine so I know it's not pre eclampsia or anything. I have a midwife appointment next week so I will mention it to her if it continues. It's a bit better now.
Jane you do whatever you need to get through christmas this year x
razz I dont know about veet but janes story would be enough to put me off!

Bluetinkerbell · 13/12/2011 21:23

jane don't worry about the Xmas cards! Would you still mind receiving some?

razz just trim it with scissors Wink that's what I do...

still unpacking boxes!

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 13/12/2011 21:38

Many thanks to fan, angel and spilt for your kind words. It is still really tough here.

jane I am escaping Christmas this year too, due to complete lack of interest. Can I join you?

ciwi At 5 months, I had very swollen and sore hands and feet with Mia, and my dad, a GP, was really worried and made me have it checked out locally with my own GP. It was possible arthritis, which is very treatable if caught early, so while it's probably nothing (like me), please have it checked out.

razz my vote is with the crowd. Ouch!!

cheese resting on the sofa sounds good, especially in this weather. Look after yourself.

too your hospital sounds about as good as mine... don't they realise that some honesty would be nice??

fanjodisfunction · 14/12/2011 00:06

razz I think you aren't aloud to use veet when pg, especially not in the 'lady garden' lol.

Just got back froma very tiring 6 hours painting the hall! I'm knackered but had to come on and see how you lot were all doing.

cheese rest up,

I want to send a huge group hug to you.

fanjodisfunction · 14/12/2011 00:06

To you all that's was suppose to say.

spilttheteaagain · 14/12/2011 08:08

oops. I used veet when pg a couple of times to keep the lady garden from running totally wild and free. It was absolutely fine for me.

jane don't worry about it at all, you aren't letting anyone down. Just do what you need to to get through. I remember waking up last christmas, taking a deep breath and saying "it's just another day". I sent only about 5 cards and broke my heart writing them. I only actually wrote expletives in one I think Blush I can't really remember. It wasn't a good time. Take care of yourself xx

razzdazz · 14/12/2011 09:31

Lol....sorry to get you all thinking about lady gardens Xmas Wink, I have always used veet down there before....just concerned about the chemicals. Shaving brings me out in a dreadful rash and I am not letting wax anywhere near me!! Hubby will keel over.....Im usually a nothing left kind of girl Xmas Grin
cheese lovely to see you back and glad to hear you are resting though if anything like my house very difficult to do especially this time of year.
My bump is so so big for 22 weeks.......the sales assistant in next asked me if I was expecting baby for xmas Blush can you believe!! Needless to say I have consoled myself with a maccy d breakfast this morning, like you do!!!

ciwi · 14/12/2011 09:35

Hi everyone,
fan meant to say yesterday, good point about me wanting different things from antenatal classes, i think it would annoy me if people were getting all bothered about pain relief etc when all i will be thinking is get my baby out safe, i dont care what it takes. Your flat will be lovely in no time, we have just finished the dining room, i love it.
miasmum thanks, I hadnt thought of arthritis, my paranoid brain goes straight to pre eclampsia which i know it cant be (though I am still being very vigilant about it). They are not horribly swollen, I am still wearing my rings and they tend to go down throughout the day. wierd thing is, my legs are fine, its just my hands Confused I am going to talk to my midwife about it next week unless it gets worse in which case I will ring sooner.
Currently on a countdown to finishing work for 2 weeks, only 3 days left after today!

ciwi · 14/12/2011 09:38

razz x posts, big bump is a good thing and you have now made me want a maccies breakfast!

CheeseandGherkins · 14/12/2011 10:41

ciwi they did settle down I'm pleased to report! Didn't sleep all that well though and woke up with an awful sore throat and cough. Feeling rubbish. I know what you mean about the classes. I must admit, I am worried about the birth but more so the being induced and worrying that it will remind me of being induced with Scarlett plus I'm anxious that something will go wrong.

Jane I meant to ask if you'd still like to receive a card too? I plan to write some out today, I say plan!

razz Lol, I think if you do keep up with the shaving then the rash doesn't happen, if you let it grow too much then it's worse! I used to get waxed but I can't be bothered and just shave now. My bump is fairly large too! I do love a McDonalds breakfast, I love their cheese dippers that they're currently selling too, mmm.

Feeling crappy today, really struggling with injecting my insulin lately too for some reason. Baby is loving around lots, which is good but I'm already sick of my sore throat and cough. Hoping that lots of rest today will sort me out.

AugustMoon · 14/12/2011 11:37

Hi everyone
jane don't worry about letting people down. We all understand how you feel. My cards are going to be late anyway as I ordered them from sands about 2 weeks ago and they still haven't arrived :(
ciwi are your hands painful or tingly and a bit numb? Could be http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Carpal-Tunnel-Syndrome.htm carpel tunnel syndrome friend of mine had it and gp got her a kind of wrist harness to wear which she said really helped. It's quite common I think. Glad yr bp is normal and all looking well x
razz not sure what to suggest for your depilatory issue Grin maybe a little trim? Or can you not see past yr bump? Confused
I'm having a resting day today as well cheese, took the dog to the park and it's so cold so im in bed now with the iPad and some snacks. I put the heating on so will wrap some pressies and maybe do some ironing when it warms up!
Have a nice afternoon ladies will catch up again later
X

AugustMoon · 14/12/2011 11:38

Ah my link didn't work doh
cts

spilttheteaagain · 14/12/2011 20:18

Hope you're feeling a bit better now cheese? I've been meaning to ask you for ages - why cheese and gherkins? What's the story behind that, it seems an unusual combination!

razz I'm just the same with the shaving rash& wax fear, hence using veet without really thinking. It stinks though. By the time we got round to birth I'd long since abandoned interest in topiary and was au naturel. Midwives and DH didn't appear to even notice, bless them.

spilttheteaagain · 14/12/2011 20:19

I found a beautiful quote recently that I wanted to share:

?Rainbow Babies? is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn?t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy and hope.

Love to all the angel and rainbow babies and their amazing mummies xx

ciwi · 14/12/2011 20:28

spilt that quote is lovely and really sums things up well x
august thanks for the link, my hands don't tingle but my thumbs are sore when I flex or extend them, it's quite strange. The swelling does seem to be worse in the morning and settles down by lunchtime. Will see what the midwife has to say next week.

MelMal · 14/12/2011 21:14

Spilt thanks for posting that quote. It is beautiful and so apt xxx

AngelGeorgie · 14/12/2011 21:52

Too true Spilt too true xxx

CheeseandGherkins · 14/12/2011 22:05

August hope you've had a lovely restful day too :)

spilt feeling worse now if anything! Need to try and eat something before heading off to bed though as my blood sugar is low, not the best thing when I feel sick and ill! Been drinking lots of water and taking paracetamol, just watching tv on the sofa all night so I've done a grand total of nothing!

That quote on rainbown babies is perfect, just wonderful. I used to be a different username but changed to this one when I was pregnant with Scarlett and going through court with exh as I was a lot easier to find, just in case. I chose this one because I love cheese and gherkins though! At the same time Xmas Grin

ciwi I've had carpal tunnel before and it was really tingly, worse at night and sometimes went numb. I bought wrist splints which helped a lot as it was the pressure on the nerves in my wrists making it worse.

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 14/12/2011 23:21

spilt that was a beautiful quote. I understood the general concept before, but hadn't seen it written so eloquently.

janedoe25 · 15/12/2011 07:37

Thank you all for your understanding about the Christmas cards, I would rather not receive any although please don't worry if you have already posted them. I can put them into Zoe's memory box.

spilt I have read that before, it has become one of my favourite quotes. Thank you for posting.

hope you all have a good day x

fanjodisfunction · 15/12/2011 08:02

thank you spilt

fanjodisfunction · 15/12/2011 09:19

that bloody long AF I had had given me a bit of a recurrent UTI! Its all that pad wearing, I think I am going to invest in a mooncup, any of you use one? Im on antibiotics again, boooo, but I started having chills last night so I kind of guessed the uti hasnt gone.

Im going to be getting the cranberry juice later see if that helps me out.

AugustMoon · 15/12/2011 11:22

Hi too I missed your post about Thea and the problems with the hospital. What a tragedy - all our stories are but it doesn't stop you feeling shocked and upset to hear others. For me it's almost as though we lived through our own losses and so have come to accept the tragedy and the issues surrounding them in some small way so when you hear details of other losses they somehow seem worse IYSWIM? Hope you get some answers at the appt. x
spilt Thanks for the quote. It's lovely.
fan never tried a mooncup, sorry. Hope the uti clears up

AngelGeorgie · 15/12/2011 16:54

Jane sorry ... My card may well be in the post already. Chuck it if you want. Xx
Ciwi another one here who has carpal tunnel syndrome. Only got it when first pg with Georgie but has progressively got worse. I ve seen my gp & at some point will have surgery for it as it's predominately my right hand which is no good got , amongst other things, work as I m totally right handed. ( examine pts , write etc... Can t do anything with my left hand!!) . I know , for me, years of the contreceptive pill initially gave me Carpal tunnel syndrome then 2 pregnancies on quick succession exacerbated it.
New car here today : swit swoo!!!!GrinGrinGrin
Love to all xxxx
