Food shopped has arrived and guess what’s missing?

What is missing from yours? And ..which shop was delivering it?
After getting a coveted delivery slot with Sainsbury’s, it has arrived and they have “lost “ the freezer food. FFS
No pigs in blankets, icecream, peas, pizza for a quick Xmas eve dinner with movie (amongst other stuff). Now have to trawl the bloody supermarket tomorrow. Exactly the reason I persevered with securing an online slot in october.
Now on hold for the helpline (15 minutes so far) to get a refund. Last Xmas shop with them for me. They fucked up last year too with. A long list of unavailable items received. This year, only a few replacements and it was looking good until the delivery arrived minus a crate or two.

Missing some fridge bits, nothing major thankfully. I need to go and get some cream and a few bits of fruit and that's pretty much it. No idea why either was missing I was in the shop earlier and they had mountains of fruit and cream!

StrawberryWater · 22/12/2024 20:24

To add the worse substitution I have ever had was for some chicken I ordered. They gave me 2 bottles of cherry coke instead! 😂

CheeseTime · 22/12/2024 20:25

I don’t bother with an order now. There’s always something important missing. Thought you were going to say the turkey though!

Your order might have been picked before today's delivery made it onto the shelves.

Don’t you get an automatic refund?? I’m sure you don’t need to remain on hold with the crappy customer service! Or contact them on Facebook help and give yourself some time back!!!

fivebyfivebuffy · 22/12/2024 20:26

I did a click and collect last year and another customer took all my chilled food...

TENSsion · 22/12/2024 20:28

I’ve just checked to see if my online delivery had squirty cream on it; it’s being delivered tomorrow… and realised that I haven’t even ordered any food! It just had the usual bottle of whisky holding the slot 😮
Thankfully, I’ve been able to order it in time but that would have been a horrific start to the day 😂😂

Yes the driver should have processed a refund for the missing things. You then get an email confirming your refund.

Lucylaughing · 22/12/2024 20:28

I had three (v reasonable) substitutions on my Ocado order and nothing at all missing - e.g. own brand butter for branded.
Very rarely have anything wrong with my order except I've given up getting bananas from them as they're always bruised.

eklaljdj · 22/12/2024 20:28

Just a suggestion for future years, I buy non perishable things like frozen food, jars, chocolate and alcohol etc in the run up to Christmas and tuck away, I only have the stuff that has a short life in my Christmas delivery slot, too many years of having to traipse to the shops on the 23/24 for the bits that have now sold out!

Shouldnellly · 22/12/2024 20:29

Ocado are missing my brother’s present of Marzipan fruits.

Loads on Amazon with pre-Christmas delivery.

WhereDoBrokenHeartsGo · 22/12/2024 20:32

i thought mine was going well until my Asda driver told me that none of the fridge food had been packed 😂 I didn’t notice until he said it and then he had to go through all the chilled items on the order individually and refund them. It was also missing my 8p Brussels sprouts, gutted. I’m working tomorrow and Tuesday so DH will have to brave the shops.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 22/12/2024 20:33

I only have a Tuesday - Thursday delivery pass so with the way things fall this year, I've had to gamble on a Christmas Eve slot, which I would never normally do.

But all the non-perishable have been bought over the last few weeks, sausages, bacon and that type of thing were ordered last week. Fruit & veg comes from a market stall and the Turkey is a special order.

So while I'm still trying to work out what else we've forgotten,Tuesday will mainly be things like milk, eggs, loo roll. I'm hoping it all comes because I really cba to make a separate trip for them on Christmas Eve!

doneandone · 22/12/2024 20:33

This is why I don't have a Christmas food delivery. It's too unreliable. Even though it's a pain in the arse hitting the shops at the busiest time of the year, it's not worth the risk of having key Christmas dinner items missing and then having to go out and do the shop anyway

Usually they refund almost before I have closed the front door but today, several hours later . Nada.
I just got through to the helpline (20mins) and they weren’t aware, refunded now and £5 apology. Not going to cover the trip to shops tomorrow (both in petrol , time (was to be a fun day with kids) and stress levels) ho ho ho! 🎅

Maybe a switch to Ocado for next year! I used them years ago but they failed to deliver at all (with food for first birthday party the next day onboard) and I switched but maybe it is time to try again.

This makes no sense...go in person to do the full shop, or order online and pop in for the few bits that weren't available..? The second one is always less stressful.

polkadotchristmas · 22/12/2024 20:40

I braved it in person today and whilst it was hell o earth I had to go anyway the last few years after so many subs or simply not delivering things at all.
Last years classic was orange juice substituted by Sunny delight BUT my apple juice was substituted with orange juice so they clearly had orange juice !! How? Why?

Threeandahalf · 22/12/2024 20:41

Nothing was missing off my Asda shop. Incredible as I order from them every week and there are usually at least 2 substitutions.

Mum2jenny · 22/12/2024 20:44

Agree, shopping today really was hell on earth, but Sainsburys did have the queuing to pay system sorted so it was fair to all.

JaniceBattersby · 22/12/2024 20:45

Nothing missing from my £300 Tesco shop.

I asked the delivery driver why they don’t do Christmas Eve deliveries and he said because on the last year they did it there were so many threats, and actual violence, toward drivers that they had to stop it.

Whisky and squirty cream 😂
depends what else you have on but you might be able to create a new cocktail!

@JaniceBattersby that's awful. I've often thought it must be a crap time to work but I didn't think it would be that bad!

I might go to M&S on Christmas Eve to see what I can get from yellow stickers. I have no idea if that is a mad idea as I never usually go to shops before the day and I have not lived here long. I'm also bored but possibly not that bored 😂

buttonousmaximous · 22/12/2024 20:49

Asda delivery tomorrow I've bet 18 substitutions, pessimistic dd is going 24. Dh has said 10. Bonus points if we guess an item, I've guessed Turkey gravy, chestnuts and sprouts.

Last year they substituted my chestnuts for cashews 😂
