Food shopped has arrived and guess what’s missing?

What is missing from yours? And ..which shop was delivering it?
After getting a coveted delivery slot with Sainsbury’s, it has arrived and they have “lost “ the freezer food. FFS
No pigs in blankets, icecream, peas, pizza for a quick Xmas eve dinner with movie (amongst other stuff). Now have to trawl the bloody supermarket tomorrow. Exactly the reason I persevered with securing an online slot in october.
Now on hold for the helpline (15 minutes so far) to get a refund. Last Xmas shop with them for me. They fucked up last year too with. A long list of unavailable items received. This year, only a few replacements and it was looking good until the delivery arrived minus a crate or two.

My cranberries were substituted for raspberries 😂 the delivery man told me anyone wanting frozen raspberries were getting substituted frozen cranberries

PippEmma · 23/12/2024 22:07

Only one substitute on my order.....

2 x Individual Christmas Puddings

But they sent ........

4 Doughnuts

WTF

RB68 · 23/12/2024 22:11

I had extras and some

2 large pavlovas
2 x main dinners curry
and 14 bananas

So weird me and the click and collect lady had a good giggle (I am a regular so she even knew my name which was nice :-) )

Our online shop arrived yesterday with three or four (reasonable) substitutions, like whole veg instead of pre-sliced ones. However, the account shows "order cancelled" and, as yet, we haven't been charged. Wish we'd ordered more alcohol!

Maybe a switch to Ocado for next year! I used them years ago but they failed to deliver at all (with food for first birthday party the next day onboard) and I switched but maybe it is time to try again.

I use Ocado too, the substitutions were one salmon paté for another and expensive unsalted butter for the cheaper one. I don't have any substitutions most weeks but this was a huge shop, three times my usual value. They're normally very good, if they find out they won't have something at Christmas after I've ordered it they let you know.
The only critical things I've ever been missing were when they stocked Waitrose food and two things from the main Christmas meal were not available due to Waitrose supply problems - fortunately I found out when I edited my order in November.
I'd much rather use Ocado as they pack from a warehouse, not a store where stock can become unavailable. I don't buy much fruit and veg from them though as I prefer to choose my own and as we're getting a Lidl here soon my life will be complete!

PokerFriedDips · 23/12/2024 22:30

Waitrose done good. Only 2 substitutions - the cheap fruitjuice DC likes unavailable so the expensive juice I like & DC tolerate sent insted. Different kind of marzipan but still fine.

neighboursmustliveon · 23/12/2024 22:56

Our delivery is tomorrow but my husband is collecting the meat and a starter we ordered at same time so he can pick up anything missing. We had Xmas eve slot last year and it was fine.

We went with Tesco and the only substitution was a 1l carton of orange juice replaced with a 1.75l carton.

Mere1 · 23/12/2024 23:19

Had my Ocado shop at 9 am this morning. Nothing missing at all. Nothing substituted. Got a voucher as it was 55p dearer when compared with Tesco. So much better than visiting supermarkets.

People complain that the high street shops are in decline and blame various things for this, however surely not going shopping for your own stuff is the main reason! People started having home deliveries of food during Covid but there’s no excuse not to go to the shops yourself now.

I don't need an "excuse". I don't want to go. Whether you go to Tesco in person or get a delivery, you're still contributing to their profits!

They're employing packers, delivery drivers and web staff. They've reduced the number of till operators with automated systems but they haven't been able to reduce the humans they employ for their online shopping business.

Peachy2005 · 23/12/2024 23:38

Got my Tesco delivery fine this afternoon, only 1 sub of 5-spice instead of chicken seasoning and the apple stollen bites were unavailable.

Popped to M&S around 7.40pm (closing at 10pm) and they had started reducing stuff dated the 25th - got the £16 big Xmas panacotta for the bargain price of £4 and some individual Bramley crumbles for £1.30. There was a lot of other stuff marked down but we didn’t need much. Some of the off-duty staff were filling their trolleys…I guess they know the score with the mark-downs 😂

A turkey crown and profiteroles 😬

GingerBeverage · 24/12/2024 06:44

Waitrose delivery: no sprouts

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 24/12/2024 08:35

Tesco shop.
Got the flexi slot day before for £5.
Only missing Bendicks chocolates.

Cornishclio · 24/12/2024 08:38

Everything was missing from my Morrisons order yesterday as they didn't deliver at all. Technical issues!!! They promise it will arrive this morning so let's hope it does 🤞🏻

Which supermarket was this?

MrsPeregrine · 24/12/2024 08:47

Sorry to hear that OP. We pre-ordered ours from M&S again this year. Luckily my DH always checks it when he goes to collect it and they managed to forget to pack the turkey. He said when he went back in the shop he heard them tell the lady in front of him that they couldn’t find her order. We’ve pre-ordered ours from M&S Christmas food from M&S once before and they managed to forget to pack something on that occasion as well.

I’ve just checked to see if my online delivery had squirty cream on it; it’s being delivered tomorrow… and realised that I haven’t even ordered any food! It just had the usual bottle of whisky holding the slot 😮
Thankfully, I’ve been able to order it in time but that would have been a horrific start to the day 😂😂

Had this last year. Suddenly realised I hadn't received a "Your order is due tomorrow" email, went to check and yep, hadn't checked out and lost my slot.

Wasn't going to bother this year, but was too exhausted to go in after 2 off days in 21 days. Got a slot just in time.

Asda

throwaway25 · 24/12/2024 09:02

This was mine some years ago - this was Christmas Eve by the way 🤣 More fool me for not understanding st the time that the food I'd ordered a month before wasn't 'reserved'! Needless to say I've never bought a turkey in an online shop since.

Food shopped has arrived and guess what’s missing?
pollymere · 24/12/2024 09:07

I went into store and they had no potatoes. They'd also had none of their sourdough delivered. I know that sounds like a terribly posh problem but I can't eat yeast so finding they only had white Chorleywood wasn't the greatest thing.

If you want to pay for it (not judging either way!) then don’t bother with the phone Helpline. They won’t take payment over the phone and when I said it would be difficult - not impossible, just difficult and not in the next couple of days- for me to go into the store and sort it out the man on the ‘helpline’ got really arsey with me “MADAM, you MUST go into your store and pay, it is FRAUD not to!”.
Managed to get the local store phone number and arranged to go in. They gave me £30 off a £90 order for the inconvenience. It was still a pain in the arse to have to go there though, so I stopped Sainsbury’s deliveries after that.

SuperSue77 · 24/12/2024 09:09

We have a Sainsburys anytime delivery pass so booked my Christmas Eve slot over a month ago. Got the receipt this morning, 5 subs, non-Christmas napkins instead of Santa ones (not the end of the world, they were added as an afterthought), tomato and basil soup instead another tomato based flavour, sharing bag of cool Doritos instead of individual packs of cheesy ones, Sainsburys cornflour instead of branded and the only one I was disappointed about was Aunt Bessie’s roast potatoes instead of Yorkshire puddings - but I can always cook my own (wouldn’t normally serve with Christmas lunch but it bulks out my autistic son’s meal as he doesn’t each much variety).

Now to see what state it arrives in 😬

Yes you do & you get a voucher back with the difference which I’ll use on the next shop!

I think the difference is what you would pay in Tesco. It’s their price match thing.
