Food shopped has arrived and guess what’s missing?

What is missing from yours? And ..which shop was delivering it?
After getting a coveted delivery slot with Sainsbury’s, it has arrived and they have “lost “ the freezer food. FFS
No pigs in blankets, icecream, peas, pizza for a quick Xmas eve dinner with movie (amongst other stuff). Now have to trawl the bloody supermarket tomorrow. Exactly the reason I persevered with securing an online slot in october.
Now on hold for the helpline (15 minutes so far) to get a refund. Last Xmas shop with them for me. They fucked up last year too with. A long list of unavailable items received. This year, only a few replacements and it was looking good until the delivery arrived minus a crate or two.

Tesco today.
Only substitution was bacon.
Gave me a better brand instead so not a problem.
Only issue was fresh prawns best before today hmmmmm

I also got Tesco today and the only substitute was bacon! Does yours also come from a branch with 2 words in the name 😆.

Bluesclues1 · 22/12/2024 21:47

Team Ocado here - had 0 subs and a cheery driver. Great quality food too.
I think they’re more reliable for substitutions because the deliveries are picked in a warehouse instead of a shop where customers are also taking the stock?

SausageinaBun · 22/12/2024 21:48

We're missing sausagemeat stuffing, swede, sausages and a few other bits, plus quite a few subs. Not terribly impressed by Ocado as they were put on the order in about October.

AuntieObnoxious · 22/12/2024 21:48

Today’s Tesco order was missing a lobster which was for our Christmas seafood cocktail starter & my son’s Lindt maxi ball - he’s had one for Christmas every year so I was really disappointed.
Luckily the shop was click & collect and on my way back home I made a slight detour to Sainsbury’s which wasn’t that busy & had both missing items.

RocketDog101 · 22/12/2024 21:49

I flit between Tesco and Ocado. My 'specials' from Ocado saw a busted and leaky duck, bashed bananas (when will I learn?!) and a squashed gift tin. But with Ocado, it's easy to raise a refund..no subs. Tesco shop had a few subs but nothing major, apart from subbing Jacob crackers for my Hovis Digestives 😢 oh, and didn't have fresh thyme 🤷‍♀️ have been stocking since October so hasn't hindered me too much.

Disturbia81 · 22/12/2024 21:49

It seems to be making people turn away from online which feels a bit backwards.. I have done it in person for the last few years as I know I can get it all.

eklaljdj · 22/12/2024 21:49

Is this thread making anyone else add stuff to their order? So far I've added baileys squirty cream and Christmas dreamies, that may or may not arrive Grin

I use Sainsbury's loads and rarely get short dates. It's all store-dependent, I think.

I agree, I think it is all local service dependent. Someone else clearly received my crates of frozen food. Worse of all, they probably knew full well when they took the delivery in.
Then the driver didn’t send through the refund, then the helpline took 20 mins to answer and finally (for today amyway) I realised I didn’t list all the missing items and need to contact them again. Having a g&t now and being cheered up by the tales of replacement products

This is why I don't have a Christmas food delivery. It's too unreliable. Even though it's a pain in the arse hitting the shops at the busiest time of the year, it's not worth the risk of having key Christmas dinner items missing and then having to go out and do the shop anyway

Me too. Also don't think they are anywhere near as bad as they used to be because so many people do online....

I did Lidl yesterday and today Morrisons as well as a two minute whizz in to Waitrose to see if they had any dill (nowhere has!) but all were good really. No huge queues. Waitrose was the worst by far and felt more busy but no issues particularly.

cuteyfluff · 22/12/2024 21:53

I'd love it if you could just say look I'm doing christmas day for 2 and my budget is £50 and then a box of food just turned up. A surprise but everything you'd need. Meat. Veg. Potatos

We once got a random bag of somebody's fancy food in our Christmas delivery, but it was when it came in bags, so we had no clue til we unpacked. Xmas Blush We got told to
keep it. God knows what the deprived customer did.

That wouldn't happen now with how it's delivered (though is dependent on the person receiving it knowing what had been ordered; my DH would just take it on face value that it was all ours as he has no input at ordering stage!).

ICouldBeVioletSky · 22/12/2024 21:54

Everything present and correct with my Ocado order 😮‍💨 I find they and Morrisons (which use the same platform) much better at managing stock and sending what you’ve ordered.

Went to our local Morrisons this morning and it was pretty quiet 🤷‍♀️

Waitingforspring81 · 22/12/2024 21:55

I spent 1 hour first thing in the morning in Aldi as soon as they opened when there wasn’t many people and bought everything; that’s they reason we don’t do online shopping anymore

BlueWhippetsForever · 22/12/2024 21:55

I had a Tesco delivery today. Booked it the day slots opened. Did the order yesterday and couldn't order any turkeys of any kind. So will have to go to the supermarket anyway, which sort of defeats the point of getting a Christmas delivery. Wasn't impressed.

True..my DH would take it all and have no clue

I gave up with online shopping when they delivered newborn nappies instead of size 4 training pants.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/12/2024 21:56

I popped to Aldi and while the car park was mostly-full, there weren't any cars queuing to find spaces and the shop felt quieter than a normal weekend. I'm not sure who all the cars in the car park belonged to!

BlueWhippetsForever · 22/12/2024 21:56

I think next year I'll just do a shop in store early one morning or late one night.

£300 Ocado shop today, only thing not available was Pringles, two substitution which were acceptable. Ocado have never let me down.

Same. Only thing missing from my Ocado was Salt and Vinger Pringles, substituted for Ready Salted. I’ve had two deliveries a week from Ocado all year and this was my first substitution since last Christmas when they substituted M&S Cranberry Sauce for Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce

But if you'd gone to the actual shop when your order was being packed there wouldn't have been a turkey available presumably?

WeGoSlow · 22/12/2024 21:56

Our pigs in blankets have been substituted with pigs in blankets flavoured crisps!

I braved it in person today and whilst it was hell o earth I had to go anyway the last few years after so many subs or simply not delivering things at all.
Last years classic was orange juice substituted by Sunny delight BUT my apple juice was substituted with orange juice so they clearly had orange juice !! How? Why?

According to the other thread running on here tonight though, hell on earth but you must smile and nod and be cheerful to every person blocking your way Wink

Fantapops · 22/12/2024 21:58

We did an ASDA one - everything arrived apart from a tin of dog food. Not bad tbh!

mitogoshigg · 22/12/2024 21:59

@ICouldBeVioletSky

I think the whole town was in Lidl, they had sold out of all joints of meat, all green veg, most potatoes, all parsnips ... like locusts had stripped the store. I was only buying cereal and bleach so didn't affect me thankfully

I have used Sainsbury’s online for a while. Never again. What I am now finding is that quite a large number of the fresh food items have very short use by dates. By this I mean, the day after delivery. Last time this happened, having checked the order before it arrived, I cancelled the whole lot! The delivery day was Friday, and the food was full price! Why should we accept this kind of service just because certain ranges have not sold out in time?
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have. I got something recently that went out of date the day it was delivered. And I've stopped buying tuna pate online although I like it, because it's always dated for the day after! Ridiculous.
