Food shopped has arrived and guess what’s missing?

What is missing from yours? And ..which shop was delivering it?
After getting a coveted delivery slot with Sainsbury’s, it has arrived and they have “lost “ the freezer food. FFS
No pigs in blankets, icecream, peas, pizza for a quick Xmas eve dinner with movie (amongst other stuff). Now have to trawl the bloody supermarket tomorrow. Exactly the reason I persevered with securing an online slot in october.
Now on hold for the helpline (15 minutes so far) to get a refund. Last Xmas shop with them for me. They fucked up last year too with. A long list of unavailable items received. This year, only a few replacements and it was looking good until the delivery arrived minus a crate or two.

🙏🙏My Ocado is coming in the morning! I’m waiting for the confirmation email to know if I need to get up and head to Tesco for 5am before work 😴

SensitivePetal · 22/12/2024 21:18

The shops always have plenty of everything on the 23 and 24 December. If you or someone else in your household can spare an hour to go, everything will be fine. Sure, they may not have the exact massive turkey you need but the supermarket is literally stuffed with food. Bit of flexibility, no-one is going hungry or missing out.

Hobbes8 · 22/12/2024 21:19

I can’t stand Sainsbury’s. They once sent me a £15 voucher off a £150 shop and it didn’t go through. I presumed I’d made a mistake and tried it the following week and it didn’t go through again. I called customer service and they called me a liar and hung up. I use Ocado now and there’s hardly ever substitutes, but I’ve gone for a high risk Christmas Eve slot this year so I might just have jinxed myself.

CulinaryPumpkin · 22/12/2024 21:19

No refunds or substitutions! Tesco. I forgot to order the lemonade though.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/12/2024 21:20

Asda delivery for a few bits yesterday. Only sub was 2 x 6 eggs instead of 1 x 12.

DreamTheMoors · 22/12/2024 21:23

StrawberryWater · 22/12/2024 20:24

To add the worse substitution I have ever had was for some chicken I ordered. They gave me 2 bottles of cherry coke instead! 😂

One time I ordered a beef roast and they substituted a box of rubber gloves.
I took it back and asked and the guy said he didn’t “have the foggiest idea.”
That was the end for me.
They couldn’t tell shite from Shinola.

eklaljdj · 22/12/2024 21:23

Sainsbury's customer service is pretty shit compared to others I've used, Tesco was much better. I don't have many problems with Sainsbury's too be fair but their customer service agents are really shit and quite rude (in my experience) as soon as I'm not trying to smash the Avios points I will go back to Tesco or Ocado.

I’ve just checked to see if my online delivery had squirty cream on it; it’s being delivered tomorrow… and realised that I haven’t even ordered any food! It just had the usual bottle of whisky holding the slot 😮
Thankfully, I’ve been able to order it in time but that would have been a horrific start to the day 😂😂

I forgot I had an Asda slot today. The guy brought a bottle of Baileys, a bottle of gin, one Domestos and 9 soda water which was meant to be slimline!!! I'd put them in to reserve the slot!!

Gowlett · 22/12/2024 21:24

Booking early makes no difference.

It’s what’s available to the picker on the day.

And the supermarkets are kinda busy…

Does it come from a warehouse or shop?

BCBird · 22/12/2024 21:24

Ocado generally have very few substitions. I totally agree about bashed bananas though

Tel12 · 22/12/2024 21:25

Chestnuts instead of chestnut stuffing. Supermarket dog food substituted with top of the range. Dog is very happy but will probably have a tummy upset tomorrow 🥴

Doyouthinktheyknow · 22/12/2024 21:26

christmastrain · 22/12/2024 21:08

I think I must have them all, I somehow ordered 18 lemons and 5 limes from Ocado, delivered today.

Oh @christmastrain, that’s some lemon action you have going on🤣

If you’re anywhere near West Sussex fling one my way please😜

Lamelie · 22/12/2024 21:26

Another Ocado fan here. They don’t take payment until it’s delivered- I realised I’d not done any food shopping in the middle of the night Friday, ordered for delivery yesterday. All there, no substitutions.

JudgeJ · 22/12/2024 21:26

doneandone · 22/12/2024 20:33

This is why I don't have a Christmas food delivery. It's too unreliable. Even though it's a pain in the arse hitting the shops at the busiest time of the year, it's not worth the risk of having key Christmas dinner items missing and then having to go out and do the shop anyway

It's the same every year, yet people persist, nearer Christmas Day we'll have the horror stories of rotten turkey, another annual event. I went to a large Sainsbury's this morning, in before 10, and it was busy but quite manageable.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/12/2024 21:20

Asda delivery for a few bits yesterday. Only sub was 2 x 6 eggs instead of 1 x 12.

I find Asda the worst for availability of items.

Sainsburys yesterday didn't have my cat litter or Dauphinoise...

Tesco had everything the day before.

LadyLindaT · 22/12/2024 21:28

Morrisons has delivered 100% of my last 2 orders, which were both last week, (so I could cope with Tetrissing the fridge and freezer, and pace all the packing away) including a half price leg of lamb. I am quite impressed.

CautiousLurker01 · 22/12/2024 21:28

So far just some veggie alternatives to the party food (camembert parcels… waited all year, and 5 stones of weight loss for those 😭); but I did once get sent an entire swede in lieu of Mens deodorant. I might have taken a tall sexy Swede…

Frontroomroomjungle · 22/12/2024 21:29

A few substitutions on the Asda C&C order this morning, but they were like for like. No turkey gravy (seems to be a thing?) but DH managed to get some from a different Asda.

Mince3141 · 22/12/2024 21:29

Sainsbury's too. I can't decide if the worst bit was the issues with the ordering system, already mouldy posh cheese, the rolls that went out of date within 2 hours of arriving, or the process to get a refund.

wigsonthegreenandhatsforthelifting · 22/12/2024 21:29

I always tick 'no substitutions' but the worst howlers I've received in online deliveries have been when I ordered a knife and received a bra, and when I ordered a bin and they sent me a tray...

rebelrun · 22/12/2024 21:29

NoWordForFluffy · 22/12/2024 20:27

@rebelrun, you can process your own online refund, you don't need to call them.

https://help.sainsburys.co.uk/help/refunds-returns/how-do-i-process-a-refund-for-an-online-order

Thanks, I have realised after the fact that there were more freezer items missing. Will do the online form too.

I went to a large Sainsbury's this morning, in before 10, and it was busy but quite manageable.

And yet would have taken a substantially longer time than me picking up bits that were missing or need replacing.

Workingclasslass · 22/12/2024 21:31

I got an Asda delivery today with only six substitutions but actually nothing really major like I wanted the Irish cream trifle which was £4.50 500 g and they sent me get this instead a 1.2 kg kilogram extra special Sherry trifle worth £12 in money so I got that for the same price as £4.50 what a bloody bargain
i ordered lobster and prawn cocktail for eight pound 240 g they sent me the tiger prawn extra special one double the size for same price so yes happy

TubeScreamer · 22/12/2024 21:32

Ocado came today

missing: bananas, currants, peanut butter

you have reminded me that Sainsbury’s also “gave me” a £15 voucher after a totally cancelled order. The voucher didn’t work and I couldn’t be arsed to follow up at the time. Defo time to experiment with other local offerings
