The John Lewis Christmas ad has destroyed me. The tears were pouring down my face. Oh God. I don't know whether to be embarrassed or watch it again so I can have another cry....

Edit from MNHQ: Sorry for butting in squiggleirl - but we're just going to add a link to to the video here so everyone can sob uncontrollably enjoy it . Apologies for the intrusion!

Every. bloody. year.

The bear and the hare was better. I just adored that animation.

And the wrapping of the presents one (2011?) was the best of all but yes, colleagues looking at me funny as I appear to have something in my eye.

Fuck knows how they do it, they make me cry every single yearOttilaVonBCup

Massive budget and a quality ad agency working on it! The same agency has worked on the JL xmas ad for years. They are well respected.

It's beautifully crafted.

He wants us to adopt a Snow Leopard too....
the penguin might be easier.... Grin

Actually, no, the best one was the boy waiting to give his parents the presents.

I was pregnant with DD1 after a long journey of infertility. I got to the point where I had to switch the channel if it came on. Pregnancy hormones combined with hope for the future.....God I'm welling up thinking about it.

middlings you could be me speaking, except I didn't get preg til the following April, so I was a real mess at the time. Despite all that, that one will always be my fave. DD was born just before the Snowman one, so that's quite special too

I thought it was rubbish. It looked as if he'd been shopping for a mail order bride.

I've just gone onto the the World Wildlife Fund site and adopted a Penguin for my dd.
It is only £3 per month and she will receive an 'Adoption Certificate', Newsletters and updates and a cuddly penguin toy too.

It is a better use of £££ than giving it to JL, imo.
But, this thread is what finally spurred me on to do it, so, credit due...

I have also adopted a Snow Leopard for Ds.
He will be soooooooooooo excited. Grin

Yes I blubbed, but then lots of things seem to do that to me now. Will show DS all the penguin stuff, he will probably want one though....

I'm sure they will love them Mind, my dd was so excited to adopt a penguin ( though when we visit the sealife centre she keeps asking which one is hers ). We bought the dd's a small plush penguin last weekend which will hopefully stop them asking for the JL one.

I saw the title of this thread and knew it was the JL ad.
I never cry usually, but have sobbed my way through this!

So, JL, I might buy your Penguin onsie for Dd then.... (bloody hell, despite my best intentions they will get some money out of me after all).

I don't like them since they left some of our wedding gifts in the front garden (oh yes....) and were then snooty with US about it... Hmm

Why did I click on this now?! I've got to be at work in an hour and now I've got to redo my make-up.

It doesn't help that one of my DCs lost a much-loved toy a month or so ago .

Well, of course I have a tear in my eye - they know just how to get you! The conceit is the same every year. You simply make parents think of their children and how lovely and sweet and innocent they are (or once were).

I thought the randy penguin's bulging eyes were a bit creepy and pervy.

The reveal is adorable.
