My scan date is 21/4 for my 2 y o who was diagnosed with severe autism in February. I called 2 weeks ago and they said we would have a decision in august I’m so stressed about it

I wish I’d applied earlier but we were waiting for her diagnosis report I hadn’t realised you don’t actually need a diagnosis it goes just by care needs 🤦‍♀️

Mummato7 · 11/08/2023 17:46

My scan date was the 19/05 waiting on 2 claims had a letter dated 6th July saying they were still looking into it and a text 2 weeks ago saying the same it's 12 weeks for us today they told me 15 weeks so I'm hoping beginning of September but who knows it's just so frustrating waiting so long

MansfieldLark · 11/08/2023 17:59

I've had my backpay which I'm grateful for, but I have had no letter. It works out I think circa 100 p/w so I'm thinking I've got mid rate care and mobility? Does that seem about right. Reading these threads have kept me sane .

When was your scan date ?

MansfieldLark · 11/08/2023 18:15

I don't know the scan date, but the forms were posted on the 8th April.

Oh that's really good news to hear! I sent mine back in march so hopefully not long now

MansfieldLark · 11/08/2023 18:19

Fingers and toes crossed for you. Our children deserve this help. I know many of us would rather we didn't have to claim.

To be honest I didn't even know child DLA was a thing for ADHD / ASD children until my sons senco teacher told us to apply!
It not about the money it's about the resources we can get in place to help him, I have mum guilt everyday that I'm just not good enough or handling his needs correctly I know I try my best but that extra bit of income for support will be worth and appreciated more than anything.
Thank you so much! And they really do deserve everything

gratefulheart · 11/08/2023 18:29

Surely if everyone keeps calling we are taking the time away from them to be able to process the forms? Or is that not how it works?

No hun they have the phone lines and the decision-makers are 2 complete different things

Shellbel10 · 11/08/2023 18:44

Hopfully they have weekend staff on doing overtime and some people hear over the weekend. I’ve seen on here before people have had texts at the weekend

Congratulations @MansfieldLark ! Was it a first time application?

MansfieldLark · 11/08/2023 20:06

@Piony yes it was.

Piony · 11/08/2023 21:00

Thanks. I am trying not to think about this too much but it's hard.

Keeks11 · 11/08/2023 21:06

Hi all there's so many threads I was trying to keep up to date with most recent!
Scan date 10/5 was initially told 16 weeks on the phone when I called end of May to check they had received documents. Currently week 14. Called again yesterday to check on status and have now been told mid to end of Sept. I felt deflated.
Seems there's no consistency as many people from end April have already had descions buy I've seem a few people are still waiting from same month. Very confusing and stressful. X

Mumofsoontobe5 · 11/08/2023 21:10

Congrats to all the parents who got their children’s claims granted this week hopefully the money helps your little ones somewhat
as for us still waiting keeping fingers crossed for all it’s not much longer and hoping the wait times start decreasing soon
im now entering week 14 of the dreaded wait I’m having this baby soon (39weeks yesterday) with any luck so I can have my mind taken off this topic somewhat as sorting baby clothes and cleaning etc hasn’t been enough upto now

Muminboys · 11/08/2023 22:26

@Keeks11 we have the same scan date and I phoned up yesterday and told them should expect decision by mid sept at the latest. I just don’t understand how they can justify nearly 5 months wait for a decision

Keeks11 · 11/08/2023 22:52

@Muminboys I know ridiculous I was hopeful to have a descion by next week with original time lines. All we can do is wait but its frustrating to keep having the date moved. Will keep you updated on any changes

barbie3 · 12/08/2023 09:18

Claim registered 5/4. Received text yesterday saying we qualify. No money yet so no idea what we've been awarded. Should get middle rate and I'll appeal if we don't. I'm guessing I'll find out by Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

SpaceRaiders · 12/08/2023 10:11

Anyone from April still waiting? Ours was scanned 17/4 still nothing. I’m hoping it’s good news rather than bad tbh.
