I'm starting to wonder if it's demand and area based as when I called up the otherday they said 15 weeks all the letters say 15 weeks I live in and area in kent that's not that busy so hoping it will be dealt with sooner but is awful for everyone that has to wait longer but on fb groups I see it's varying from end of April to middles to end of May either than or the based on information gathering ? Who know but anyway great news maybe give them a call or divide what you got by how many weeks and look at what payment would match

Hi all,

Totally off track, but read a couple of posts re: awaiting mobility award.

I'm not sure if many people are aware and in this current financial climate any advice that may be of huge benefit to someone, as it helped me significantly, so wanted to share in the hope it may help another family.

If you have a child under 3 and they have mobility issues, or specialist equipment (i'm sure it doesn't necessarily mean to aid your child's mobility but could be that your child relies on for example a ventilator/oxygen etc this counts aswell) my boy cannot walk, so i can't be 100% on the medical equipment side of things but sure it did say it on their website. Family fund can assess you and if successful, provide you with a car fully funded by the charity.

I myself care for my little boy full time, and therefore receive benefits if that helps anyone wonder if they are possibly eligible.

As the wait for a new car under mobility is pretty long at current due to the car industry, I was provided with a rental car. I only had to pay for the fuel.

I had the car just shy of a year, even when my boy turned 3 (6 months in) as my mobility car wasn't ready, they extended the rental with no hestitation as i couldnt be without transport.

Sorry if it was off track, but just hope it could possibly help a child and their family.

AylinSengul · 01/09/2023 10:05

I called DLA and the lady I got today was nice but said I have to wait till the week my claim runs out in November before I get a answer that would be 18 weeks since my renewal was put in. It’s been 6 weeks now, don’t think I can wait 12 more weeks. I wish they didn’t leave everything to the last minute and they let you renew sooner. I also wish we could track the progress online so we didn’t have to call up would make this process a little less stressful.

Chazspence12 · 01/09/2023 10:09

My scan date is 19/5 rang yesterday and still in the holding pile 15 weeks today hoping not long now.

Chels2020 · 01/09/2023 10:16

So I’ve just got off the phone and been told the change of circumstances are now looking at 28 weeks wait and told to call back beginning of October! It’s absolutely ridiculous I will be phoning back at the end of sep once the 26 weeks had passed and making a complaint it’s an absolute nightmare!

sarahxdx · 27/08/2023 07:10

Was this for a COC,if so how long have you got left to wait,I’ve been told last week in November x

Not sure if you’ve seen my last comment the wait time has now been moved to 28 weeks

Mydogisamentalist · 01/09/2023 10:38

Just called them asking if I still had time to send extra evidence. My daughters renewal has been done! Scan date 16th June.

Still advised to send the extra evidence though. She was awarded low rate mobility but I’ve received extra evidence stating that her mobility needs are quite extreme so I’m going to send it in. If it doesn’t change I don’t mind but I’d rather a decision was made with all the recent evidence taken in.

flip side of that is what if they dealt with the renewal when it was received and reduced your entitlement. I'm sure that would cause yet more stress.

zoeybrooks45 · 01/09/2023 10:42

I have come across this organisation, do you think it would be possible to try to apply for this award based on child being to distressed outside and deaf? It’s such a strict guidelines so I wanted to know if there is any exception. As I attend quite a few appointments and therapies aswell.

Ash212121 · 01/09/2023 10:55

i have just spoke to DLA regarding my daughters claim, scan date 12/05. It still hasn’t been looked at. I questioned how people have had decisions with later scan dates and I was told they must be lying 😂😂😂 so yeah just carry on waiting!

I don't think there are many after you awarded yet TBF.

I should ring up but home is chaotic and I can't even face searching out my claim number 😫

My scan date is 22/5 I have been awarded and money is in my account. I spoke to someone Tuesday who said it was with a case worker since last Thursday and people were saying that’s different to decision maker however, checking my bank today its been paid. No text no nothing and no idea on rate. But just wanted to update. I did send an awful lot of information I don’t know if that made a difference x

Eeeeeeekkk congrats I’m 24/5 so hopefully soon xxxx

Chels2020 · 01/09/2023 11:38

I wish I hadn’t wasted an hour of my life 😂😂 I will ring again at end of month hopefully by then it should have been looked at as that will be 28 weeks x

MamiD · 01/09/2023 11:41

I contacted them today scan date 9/5 and was told 18 weeks, I’m looking at end of September/middle October even though I’m on week 16?
I’ve more evidence to upload anyway but she said it’s a while until it makes the DM’s list 🙈

AylinSengul · 01/09/2023 11:44

When was you’re current award end date if you don’t mind saying.

great news x

MamiD · 01/09/2023 11:49

Does anyone know how to upload more evidence? I’m on the gov uk website but I can’t find a link to upload the paperwork?
