I would wait till the letter, as the date I phoned for the forms was not the date I was backed dated from it was the first Tuesday after, if that makes sense.

was kind of what I was worrying about

Hi all,
I bit the bullet and called today. So lucky I did.
Scan date 25/04
My son has been awards HRC sand LRM!
I cried when I man told me on the phone, I feel so lifted and weight lifted off my shoulder!
To those who are waiting good luck! And try and hang in there!

So so pleased for you!!!

zoeybrooks45 · 31/08/2023 20:18

The address I was given after calling up a few days ago is:

Disability benefit centre 4
POST Handling Site B
WOLVERHAMPTON
WV99 1BY

he stated to include Name and DOB, you could also include reference number that’s on scan date letter and extra evidence. Hope that helps. I think this is the same address the form goes to.

Yes, if you earn less than £139 a week you can apply for carers allowance as well but it Weill be deducted pound for pound from your UC.

Thank you

Is there any way of speeding up them making a decision. It’s affecting my mental health so much. I haven’t eaten in days I’m not sleeping. All I’m doing is looking after my kids constantly and stressed the rest of the time. X

Mydogisamentalist · 31/08/2023 20:53

Thank you so much @zoeybrooks45

I was holding out on sending anything extra in the hope that it wouldn’t be much longer! As that’s probably not the case I may as well!

Hey lovely. It is a very very stressful process just try and hang in there when was your scan date?

AylinSengul · 31/08/2023 22:54

@INWright i don’t know the woman I spoke to today didn’t speak great English and made me feel worse. I’m going to call tomorrow. What questions should I ask and is there anything at all I can do to move them along ? They got my form on the 25th of July so it’s only been 6 weeks but I’m so scared the mental strain is going to cause me to do harm to myself. As I rely on that money as a single mum who left an abusive marriage and without I couldn’t afford the rent and bills x

Try not to worry yourself over it so much darling it's a very painful process.
Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do it is a 18 week wait! Unless they move quicker I'm unsure.
Currently they are on the start of MAY so you are looking on another 12 weeks at most.
If you call and explain to them about how your feeling and to see if there is anything the can do to prioritise your child's claim and see what they say.

Celestiaxo · 01/09/2023 06:29

What fb page is this please?

Mydogisamentalist · 01/09/2023 07:55

@AylinSengul I don’t want to get your hopes up but I’m pretty sure that renewals are a slightly different process to new claims.

I think they work backwards with renewals. So new claims are put in some kind of queue with newest received going to the back. Renewals are sorted by expiring first regardless of when they were received (within reason). They usually aim to give you the decision the week the award runs out but it can be the day before or the day off.

I know it’s still a bit of a wait until October but it might not be a 12 week wait either. I’d give them a call a week before your sons award is due to end and see what they say.

I really hope you’re ok. The stress your under jumps of the page.

I’m on week 16 and 26 weeks seems so far away,I hope you get some good news x

AylinSengul · 01/09/2023 08:09

I’m not great haven’t slept properly since the renewal form went back, not eating properly my mental health is really low right now, to the point I would rather not be here. This stress is more stressful than looking after my son with all his needs. I really don’t think I’ll make it another 10-12 weeks my son would probably be better with someone else. X

Chels2020 · 01/09/2023 08:32

It’s horrendous when I’ve got hospital appointments all over the country from Manchester to Preston to Leeds to London I can’t keep up so knowing if he gets mobility high rate the stress of having a car as we currently train or rely on family is hard x

Don’t feel like that you will get there it is very stressful and very hard having to wait in the world of Unkown not knowing is hard I’m a parent of 5 children one with physical disability he can not walk and one awaiting autism screening it is hard but I take comfort from this group knowing we are not alone and we are getting the answers all be it very slowly :) x

My scan date is 22/5 I have been awarded and money is in my account. I spoke to someone Tuesday who said it was with a case worker since last Thursday and people were saying that’s different to decision maker however, checking my bank today its been paid. No text no nothing and no idea on rate. But just wanted to update. I did send an awful lot of information I don’t know if that made a difference x

I think when it gets to the actual month they are working in, it’s going to be inevitable some get approved quicker. Some decision makers work slower than others and could be part time, summer hols etc. all makes a difference. Not saying it’s the right way of working though.
I have been waiting since 14/6 so hopefully not long now x

Minniem2020 · 01/09/2023 09:19

I've just come across this thread last night and it's so helpful.
Thank you to everyone who posts.
My date is the 2nd May and it's given me hope that I might hear something soon.

From what I was told a couple of years ago when I applied for my eldest the woman said that the more evidence you have the less work they have to do in chasing information which speeds up the process. But it’s not right, the system seems so flawed. Fingers crossed for you x
