Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

Scooby-I have been having no luck with sweeps either (40+8). Good luck for Friday

bigpantspam · 04/03/2010 13:26

Hello ladies

Scooby our dates are the same. I'm 10 days over now. I had a 2nd sweep yesterday and this mw was a lot more, erm, vigorous! Not that it's showing any sign of having done anything yet.

I'm booked for induction tomorrow, which I'm not happy about. I called the consultant yesterday to see if this could be rearranged for Monday and have been asked to go in as planned for monitoring and to talk about it. If everything is Ok, I'll be coming home, after all 3 more days to go naturally is a long time isn't it? And I certainly don't fancy hanging about at the hospital at the weekend if there's no need. I don't want to be there any longer than I have to (who would?).

369thegoosedrankwine · 04/03/2010 16:51

Well it all sounded so promising, yet here I am, still here.

Having strong BH and very very irregular mild contractions and having a continual show, but no definite signs that baby is on its way. Feel like it could all stop at any minute.

I am also absolutely worn out and feel so tired that I have had a long sleep this afternoon. DH is thankfully home now so I don't have to worry about DS.

I am now 40+7 and truly sick as a chip.

scoobyd00 · 04/03/2010 16:54

I have spent the day walking the dog and gardening to no avail. Baby is way too comfy!

bigpantspam if it was me I'd prefer to wait until Monday incase you go into labour naturally. It sounds far preferable to being induced. My mw is really good and is quite happy for me to go 14 days over. Hopefully the weather stays sunny and I can spend the whole weekend out and about (or if I'm really lucky in hospital giving birth!).

Does anyone else feel like there's actually no baby and that apart from a big bump you've made it all up. This is my first and all seems so unreal!

369thegoosedrankwine · 05/03/2010 10:27

Still here.

Scooby, yes I think it is all a big conspiracy theory and that there is no baby up there just an absolutely huge beach ball.

Bigpants good luck with what you decide today.

I had mild contractions last night and they even got to become slightly painful, so I thought good 'tis on its way. Went to bed, fell asleep and everything has stopped.

Still having a show, but that could go on until induction. 2nd sweep tomorrow.

Does anybody else feel a bit ridiculous. I know that this is completely irrational but when people keep texting me or calling me I feel slightly ridiculous saying no I haven't gone into labour yet.

boardbunny · 05/03/2010 11:17

No movement here at all, sweep did nothing so really hoping something happens today/tomorrow but have had no signs at all.

I also feel a bit ridiculous and a bit upset now and again - people mean well but they keep saying things like 'get a move on' and 'that baby will be talking by the time it's born', I'm like do you think I want to be sat here as big as a house and still no baby to cuddle?! DH not overly helping (although he thinks I'm making it up now too!) but he's like 'well of course you'll have to be induced, everyone is on their first baby' etc etc. Grr!

369thegoosedrankwine · 05/03/2010 16:10

Glad that it's not just me broadbunny.

On a rational basis there is nothing that we can do. On a hormone induced being pregnant for nearly a year basis I am getting to the stage where I just want to say 'oh f* off to everyone who makes comments such as 'Are you still here? Have you not had that baby yet? or when I answer the phone just say 'Well?'

If it makes you feel any better I have cried nearly every day since my due date (sobbed yesterday in fact at Gavin and Stacy which wasn't even sad) and I am really not a crier. I am blaming hormones.

My DH is also looking decidedly bored of it all too now, can't blame him really but want to scream like a banshee at him 'What do you think it's like for ME??????'

victoriascrumptious · 05/03/2010 17:28

Still no movement here. T+9 now

BellasYummyMummy · 06/03/2010 08:12

hello everyone, not overdue yet but today is my D-Day and there is no sign of anything happening so think i may be lurking on here for awhile!! I hope all you ladies have your babies soon.

PacificDogwood · 06/03/2010 08:25

Morning, ladies, hope you don't mind me butting in, just wanting to offer my support.

I won't be over until Tuesday, but previous 2 'normal' pregnancies I've had went to T+15 - induced- and T+12 - spontanous labour, got my VBAC (DS2 was emCS at 31 weeks so does not 'count' for the purpose of this thread ).

Hang in there, baby will come out when it's good and ready, you are all obviously doing a great job at keeping him/her comfortable and happy.

Have a nice weekend and I shall be back oh..... on Wednesday, I suspect .

victoriascrumptious · 06/03/2010 08:40

Thanks for your encouragement Pacific x

369thegoosedrankwine · 06/03/2010 12:19

Yes, thanks for a nice post Pacific.

I am still here. Still having pains and a show but working towards next Thursday now.

I have decided to keep busy and as the house is spotless and I have absolutely no washing or ironing to do (completely unheard of for me) I baked this morning and made two cakes with DS. House smells fab.

2nd sweep this afty, see what that brings.

angfirsttimer · 07/03/2010 12:12

Hi ladies,

I am 40+5 today had a couple of false alarms where I have had contractions for a few hours which then fizzle out. So frustrating. Due to have a S+S tomorrow morning followed by a reflexology session so fingers crossed!

I just can't get my head round the fact that I have not had this baby yet. I wake up every morning disappointed that I have another day to get through without my baby and then get all despondent in the evening at the fact that another day has gone by. Feel so pathetic!

I must be providing 5* accommodation.....

Pingpong · 07/03/2010 12:42

Hi ladies
thinking of you all who are still overdue/having sweeps/waiting it out.
Just thought I'd pop by and let you know that I had my planned elcs at 40+5 and thank god the sweeps didn't work after all as I had an 11lb 1oz baby girl on Tuesday. Her head was 3/5th engaged and the consultant said that there was no way she was going any further down - a natural delivery would have been impossible, her head circ was 38cm. Her cord was also wrapped round her neck. So if I'd waited for induction I'd have been an emergency section anyway!
Hope you all manage natural deliveries without needing induction.

BellasYummyMummy · 07/03/2010 16:09

wow smac congrats on your baby girl! and that is good you had the elcs!! phew! scary stuff, you just dont know whats going to happen.

i am officially overdue today, but tbh i am grateful as we are all suffering with really bad colds and have had no sleep for the last few days, so i dont think i would cope with labour at all. Hopefully baby will stay comfy for a good few more days yet so we can all fully recover!

FourLittleDucks · 07/03/2010 18:04

Hey Ladies......
Am now 1 day overdue ! absolutely no sign of anything. This is DD4 - so far I've been late/early/on EDD so looks like my last one is another late one !!

Isn't it a strange situation we all find ourselves in ?

When else in life would you be suspended on the edge of a massive life event with NO idea when its actually going to happen ????
Tis ridiculous !!!

Am little cautious in mentioning that I did a little self-sweep last night - has anyone else tried that ? then googled it and everyone was saying don't do it because of risk of infection.
Anyway, didn't work !

stickybean · 07/03/2010 20:21

Hi ladies,
I'll join. 41 weeks tomorrow! Not happy now. My 1st baby came on the due date and i feel this one is teasing me.
Hoping for a vbac so really want to avoid an induction or elcs. Seeing consultant on tues to talk through my options but hoping to pop before then.
Hope you are all feeling well.
Stickybean

mad4mainecoons · 08/03/2010 10:17

Hi ladies, can i join too?

im now 40+4 and booked in for a sweep on wednesday. had lots of BH and a couple of runs of false labour but it always fizzles out to nothing....Grrrr!

My DS was a day early so im sooo frustrated and im with you all on the seething rage when people keep asking if you have had the baby yet! well meaning i know but Grrrr all the same.

really hoping something will start soon as im hoping for a homebirth.

hope you all see some progress soon.x

369thegoosedrankwine · 08/03/2010 11:29

Hello ladies,

Smac fantastic news and what a weight. So glad it all worked out well for you.

Well I am no longer overdue as my 2nd ds arrived at midnight on Sunday.

I had a second sweep with the midwife on Saturday and she told me that I was 3/4cm dilated. I also started having pains regularly after the sweep. Went to hospital at 8.30pm and DS2 was born at 2 minutes past midnight. He was 9lb 8oz, and felt like it to be honest.

I am so happy that he is finally here and know the frustrations that the rest of you in the waiting gang are feeling.

It will happen eventually........it has to (although i didn't believe it myself).

BellasYummyMummy · 08/03/2010 17:38

yay congrats 369!!!

i am now 2 days over, and feeling like this cold is finally shifting woo! my DD has gone to my mums for the night so we can get a good nights sleep horray!!!! as she has been up the last few nights coughing and spluttering. looking forward to not having to get out of bed first thing tomorrow! i have forgotten what that feels like.... unless of course this baby decides to kick things off in the early hours and scuffle my plans...!

boardbunny · 08/03/2010 17:59

Another one no longer overdue! DD1 born 2.35pm yesterday, 8lbs 3oz.

Got to hospital at 7am for my induction, was put on the monitor and turns out I was actually starting contractions on my own! However they still went ahead with the pessary for induction.

In hindsight, possibly a mistake. A couple of hours later I was about 4cm dilated but pain steadily getting worse (only on TENS at this point) and I was told to take 2 cocodamol and have a bath. I was in that much pain at the end of the bath I was wheeled to the labour ward screaming my head off, the midwife there thinking I was a drama queen at only probably 5cm if that, she didn't even bother examining me. It was only when I cried 'I am ready to push NOW' that she had a look and realised I was fully dilated. DD born about an hour later, episiotomy and pethidine to aid, and is lovely. Bearing in mind my original birth plan included a birth pool and only gas and air, bit of a diversion but there you go!

Good luck to those of you still waiting, congrats 369 and Smac, we got there in the end!

BellasYummyMummy · 09/03/2010 08:13

well done boardbunny!! how lovely to finally have you LO in your arms.

3 days late for me now, and an awful nights sleep last night. My mum has my DD and DH slept downstairs so it was the perfect recipe for the perfect nights sleep and the chance for me to shift this cold once and for all. Not to be!! every 1-2 hours i was up for a wee. I cant believe it. Then i had a coughing fit for about an hour, then needed to wee again. Then had some strong period type pains and thought ooh baby on the way, then nothing, then had to pee again. So i am very tired and still snotty and coughing today.

i am so scared of having this baby but also desperate to.

PacificDogwood · 09/03/2010 08:33

Well, here I am - as expected . Absolutely NO sign of anything happening anytime soon...

Due today, well, according to scan dates, my own dates suggest 12.3.10; I don't really think a few days either way matter that much. Bubs will come when he is well and ready .

Congratulations on all those who are no longer overdue . Well done and enjoy your newborns!

joanne34 · 09/03/2010 12:58

Hi ladies, Congrats to those of you who have accomplished a baby ! It's not a conspiracy then ???

I have been lurking the past week, knowing this day would come ! I am now 40+1...

PacificDogwood = my scan date is the 8/3/10 but my own original date is the 13/3/10....mumsnet date makes it out to be the 11/3/10.......... so I am working to each one individually

My DS1 was born at 38+4.... so I am completely lost now

I have since saturday been doing lots of walking... got some cramps today.... but have now stopped.........

Am so tired, am going back to bed for a nap in a bit !

I have midwife tomorrow and am expecting a sweep to be offered.... and i'll probably accept, even though I havent got a clue what to expect... sex tonight and tomnorrow and so on then !

Bilders · 09/03/2010 15:36

hello everyone, I'm new to Mumsnet and now overdue too! I'm not really sure when my due date is, according to my ovulation I was due yesterday but according to the scans it was 3rd March. Either way I'm SO ready and hope it won't be too much longer. My independent midwife is against inducing as the baby will come when it's ready, frustrating as it is but I do agree with her.

Lot's of walking, curries, laughter and crying to get the hormones going but none of that seems to work! Patience is clearly the only thing that is needed, and to keep occupied in these last few days or weeks!

Any other suggestions?

Congratulations to all of you lucky mums who have had their happy arrivals!
