Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

DrS I am sorry! We were solidarity sisters and I've let you down.

Sending you all good vibes I can muster. It will happen soon!

Fantastic news MrsC - well done.

boardbunny · 28/02/2010 21:44

Congratulations MrsCurly! Lovely news.

The full moon isn't doing anything for me so far, so I'm going to sit back, relax and see what the sweep brings on Wednesday. (A chunky little baby hopefully!)

bigpantspam · 01/03/2010 01:11

Yup, no full moon action here

I've got my sweep in the morning and hope it will get things going. I've got some period type pain now, but this has happened before and come to nothing....

DrSkidaddle · 01/03/2010 13:42

thanks MrsC

Had sweep no. 2 today and cervix hasn't changed since last one - soft and 1cm but think that is normal once you've had a baby anyway.... am going for a long walk now to try and encourage the baby's head to come down - if my pelvic pain will let me!

Hope your sweep was more successful bigpants...

Pingpong · 01/03/2010 21:44

I also had sweep number 2 today and like DrS cervix hasn't changed since Saturday still difficult to reach and 1cm but MW said 1cm is normal once you've already had a baby. I am 3/5th engaged but have been for a few weeks now.
So it now looking like the elective section will be happening tomorrow unless some miracle happens overnight!
good luck to all who are still waiting.

DrSkidaddle · 02/03/2010 01:32

ooh think I'm in labour! Contractions every 4 mins and lasting about a minute.... how exciting

good luck tomorrow smac - maybe we'll have our babies at the same time!

Pingpong · 02/03/2010 06:18

sounds like that second sweep maybe helped after all DrS - you may even have your baby in your arms as I type! I had to get up for early breakfast and pre-meds.
Good luck

MrsCurly · 02/03/2010 09:23

Oooh Dr S how exciting. Sending you lots of luck!

How exciting! Fingers crossed that all is going well for those of you in labour (and of course for Smac!)

No news here, apart from one lot of backache at 4am and a bit of a dodgy tum this morning, but I'm not pinning any hopes on it being a sign of things starting to get moving down there!

Sadowska · 02/03/2010 12:25

Hello ladies,
I have only just joined mumsnet and was wondering if i can join your "waiting list"
I am 5 days overdue today and so totally fed up... it's my 1st baby and being 40+5 i wanted a sweep done at my mw visit and guess what... she couldn't do it. The little bugger inside decided not to move down and cervix was not dilated at all... so, nothing.
Got the induction booked for next tuesday when will be 41+5 and just feel like a total failure today... i thought i tried everything to get the labour started but the baby seems to be having totally different idea and is not playing the ball at all...
So, anyway, apart from the whining part, just wanted to say hello

victoriascrumptious · 02/03/2010 12:44

Now a week overdue. No Braxton Hicks, no show, no nothing. My baby keeps on dropping for a few mins-as evidenced by pain in fanjo and then springs back up again. I have been sticking Primrose Oil up my fanny, overdosing on raspberry tea and bouncing on the ball every night. MW's are unable to sweep due to closed cervix.

The only difference in the way I feel is that I seem to be less tired and no longer need to nap in the day.

369thegoosedrankwine · 02/03/2010 14:00

I am most definitely still here and not in labour. Lots of twinges, backache, but no real signs.

DrS - how exciting. I am a tad of your contractions, but good luck and hope it all keeps going well and baby is here soon (might be here now).

Smac - if elcs has gone ahead then you too might have your baby by now.

Sadowski - we share the same date. I too am 40 + 5 today. Don't feel like a failure; going into labour is the one thing you have absolutely no control over. I asked my Consultant if he could suggest anything to get my labour going and he actually laughed out loud and said no. Think of it this way, this coming weekend will be the last weekend in this pregnancy. My induction is next Thursday.

Victoria - Odd that you should say that you're less tired in the day. I am no longer feeling the need to nap but I am getting better at sleeping through. Might be a sign (clinging to anything at the moment).

I'm waiting for a call from my midwife for my sweep which is supposed to be today. I've managed to shave my legs and everything in anticipation of it.

blonde36er · 02/03/2010 14:30

369 - good job you said about shaving your legs, I'd not even thought about doing mine and I'm having a sweep on Thursday! Did remember to keep hold of one maternity skirt though in a desperate attempt to try and keep some dignity until labour\birth is actually upon me

I too am 40+5...strange to think that this will indeed be the last weekend of being pregnant (providing induction is booked for end of next week and goes smoothly!)

victoriascrumptious · 02/03/2010 14:32

I hope it is a sign 369. I need all the good omens I can get

DrSkidaddle · 02/03/2010 15:51

hi all,

Just a quick one to say that baby Malachi was born this morning (10 days overdue) at 5.50am weighing 8lb 8oz. Horrid back-to-back labour but that all pales into insignificance now! He is lovely and his brother and sister are besotted

Passing on lots of labour vibes to you all, and looking forward to hearing your good news soon

369thegoosedrankwine · 02/03/2010 16:45

DrS - fantastic news. So pleased to hear of safe arrival. Congratulations and well done.

boardbunny · 02/03/2010 19:54

Congratulations DrS! I'll take some of those labour vibes off you, sweep booked in for tomorrow. Eek.

bigpantspam · 02/03/2010 23:21

Congratulations DrS, fantastic name!

8 days over, still nothing happening. I'll call the midwife in the morning for another sweep. I get the odd cramps and twinges, all which come to nothing.

Lets see if a second sweep tomorrow will get things going.....

MrsCurly · 03/03/2010 09:24

Congratulations Dr S!

Wonderful news!

Hello, I'm still here.

Had sweep this morning (midwife was on emergency yesterday). I am 2 - 3 cm dilated and midwife described the waters as 'bluging' and could go at any minute. She also said she could feel baby's head.

Booked in for a 2nd sweep for Saturday if nothing has happened by then.

I feel quite excited about it all now I have a bit of a focus and I know that I haven't been imagining the pressure and pains (I swear sometimes I think that I have been).

boardbunny · 03/03/2010 14:23

Just had my sweep too 369!

Like you MW could feel baby's head which was very strange! Hopefully that will spur baby on a bit but if not have induction booked for Sunday, really don't want to go down that route but at least the end is in sight either way.

scoobyd00 · 03/03/2010 15:50

Can I join you all? I'm now 40 + 9 and so far have had 2 failed sweeps due to a posterior cervix. Both times the mw could feel the baby's head so it's nice and low, but having been in the perfect position for the last month, it's now moving back to back! Have got a final sweep booked for Friday, then if all else fails, it's an induction next Monday when I'll be 40 + 14. Getting very bored and the dog is knackered from all the walking!

369thegoosedrankwine · 03/03/2010 17:42

Boardbunny fingers crossed that the sweep has worked for both of us. I am getting strong BH at the moment but nothing else.

Scooby I am getting bored too.

victoriascrumptious · 03/03/2010 17:54

Congrats DrS, wow 369 and BB-sounds very promising-I am v v jealous
