After about an hour of painless contractions every 3 mins, waters just went. Had forgotten quite how bloody much of it there is. I sit back and await labour...

Many many towels... (3 bath and 5 hand to be precise)

Ok, so you know that bit in Marley and Me where the dog knows that she's about to go into labour? Ha! My bloody yellow lab is lying snoozing about three feet away and appears to have no idea...

@ your dog!

Congratulations! How are you feeling?

duchesse · 23/08/2009 05:34

Fine! Nothing much happening yet apart from more leaking. Plus there's only BBC News 24 on the telly and I don't think I'm going to be able to get back to sleep.

Can be a bit of a twilight zone before it truly kicks in, can't it? Which number birth is this for you? Can't possibly be first?! You sound far too patient for it to be number one

duchesse · 23/08/2009 05:41

Fourth! After a very long gap though.

OP posts:
aRLcat · 23/08/2009 05:48

I have four too! Only 11 months between my 3rd and 4th but I'm sure it's just like riding a bike.... except much more profound and rewarding!

Best of luck, wishing you a lovely labour

duchesse · 23/08/2009 05:49

Think I'm going to go back to bed anyway. No sense staying up when I could be getting some last ZZZs for a while in...

Arl- 11 months! Sounds like hard work! Are they in the same school year?

OP posts:
aRLcat · 23/08/2009 06:00

Sleep sounds a good idea if you can manage it.

Hard work? Funnily enough, although at times life is so hectic my head spins, I couldn't say it's hard work, it's just busy, rewarding and interesting albeit somewhat relentless

They wont be in the same school year which is a shame.

Sweet dreams!

duchesse · 23/08/2009 06:14

Couldn't sleep...

Congratulations. Do you have a ball you could bounce on? maybe that will get things going? Maybe a bit of an early morning walk?

duchesse · 23/08/2009 06:31

Proper cx starting I think...

Sounds very exciting! My sis discovered she was PG with no. 4 after an almost 6 year gap. Scan showed twins!

LOL at dog too.

Keep us posted.

duchesse · 23/08/2009 06:32

Dog is actually snoring now...

LOL at your dog. Our cat got very upset when I was in labour he went nuts and kept trying to climb in my shirt

duchesse · 23/08/2009 06:39

I sincerely hope the dog doesn't try that, oops- he weighs about 38kg...

Confuzzeled · 23/08/2009 07:15

I hope this baby comes soon for you, you could be back on here this evening telling us how easy it was

3cutedarlings · 23/08/2009 07:25

aww congratulations duchesse, wishing you a lovely easy labour . Are you having a HB?

duchesse · 23/08/2009 09:15

Thanks for all good wishes. Nothing much happening yet except more leaking.

Yup, am booked for HB. By the sheerest good fortune my named midwife is the duty midwife today. She's on all day 8-8. Hoping to squeeze this one out some time today!
