After about an hour of painless contractions every 3 mins, waters just went. Had forgotten quite how bloody much of it there is. I sit back and await labour...

Awww!! did you manage to get any rest?

LaDiDaDi · 23/08/2009 10:08

Hope that things are progressing for you.

duchesse · 23/08/2009 10:11

I slept for another hour. Nothing much happening yet... Do you think I should call the midwife? I texted her earlier but haven't heard anything from her so don't know if she knows.

yes id call her how long did your labours last with you others DCs?

YanknCock · 23/08/2009 11:19

I'm back at home duchesse, I think you'll easily beat me as I'm not dilating despite contractions since 6pm last night, every 5 minutes!!!

good luck, off to start my own labour (or non-labour as the case seems) thread....

duchesse · 23/08/2009 11:22

38 hours first one
21 hours second
4.5 hours third

Still nothing happening yet though...

Any news?

duchesse · 23/08/2009 16:05

Still not much happening- a few random proper contractions. I had a nap earlier to make up for being awake from 1:30 am. Was woken up by a contraction, so must be heading in the right direction. Still leaking a fair bit- beginning to wonder if there's actually a baby in there or if it's all just water...

FWIW my 4th was mainly water I was expecting at least 9lb+ then she turned up 7lb 10 and was ages getting going. Good luck for tonight

elkiedee · 23/08/2009 18:06

Dropping by to see what's happening, hope things really start to happen soon.

Picante · 23/08/2009 18:12

Come on where's the birth announcement?!

Hoping all is going to plan Duchesse.

duchesse · 23/08/2009 19:02

Definitely not going to plan at the moment alas. Still nothing happening. My named midwife goes off duty in an hour and there's nobody from the community on duty overnight. Plus it'll be 24 hours since delivery in less than 12 hours and they will probably insist on further interventions.

duchesse · 23/08/2009 19:10

duchesse · 23/08/2009 19:25

LuluMaman · 23/08/2009 19:27

nipple twiddle

visualisation

sleep

eat and drink lightly

you will be advised to have an induction after 24 hours, but you can make an informed decision to decline and ask for further monitoring etc

are you sure it was a full rupture?

duchesse · 23/08/2009 19:31

Oo, thanks for being here Lulu. Am beginning to get despondent... Definitely the full rupture- I've lost 1kg since yesterday- three bath towels and about 7 hand towels' worth of water.

Defo Nipple stimulation with a breast pump if you have one duchesse ?

I was 3 days overdue with DS (my 3rd DC) fed up as i had SPD that had got so bad that i hadnt slept in days. Had a bath at around 10pm used pump for 10mins (ish) each nork and woke at 6am the next morning with niggles. Proper contractions started at 1.30pm and he was born at 3.55pm .

Has your MW been out and seen you yet?

duchesse · 23/08/2009 19:43

No midwife, no. Am a little pissed off actually- luckily the baby is moving again after a few quiet hours or I'd seriously be freaking out.

OP posts:
3cutedarlings · 23/08/2009 19:49

Give her a call before she goes off duty? id be mighty pissed to tbh.

Your doing fantastic!! not long now, i have a feeling things will kick off very soon

LuluMaman · 23/08/2009 19:55

agree you should give her a call.. she can tell you what's what

as long as fluid is clear, and you don;t feel ill or feverish and baby is ok then you can decide to delay IOL. might be good if a MW came out and listened in to the baby to reassure you

are the pains still coming on?

duchesse · 23/08/2009 20:30

Nothing regular. I'm getting a contraction an hour roughly, but definitely far fewer than the middle of the night when they were every 3 mn.

I spoke to her and she double-checked with me that the waters are clear- no blood or even bloody tinge, and definitely no meconium. Am really beginning to regret accepting the stretch and sweeps now. Not sure this baby is ready to come out yet.
