Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

Lost the ability to spell today and feeling. The pain is in my bump is quite distracting. Come on baby!

cloveofhislife · 22/08/2010 13:30

Hi all, Can I join you? I am 40 + 2 today.
Had my 1st 2 at 37 weeks and my 3rd at 40 + 5. So this one could come any time.
It's been posterior for weeks and I have tried everything to turn it, but to no avail.
My mental state is depressing because I am OBSESSING about when I am going to go into labour.
Got a sweep planned for Monday, but she tried last monday and I was fort knox (long, thick and tubal - great)
I can't reach my cervix at all, so I think it will be the same again tomorrow.
Hope I'm not in for a really late baby.
How are you all doing?

tweakers · 22/08/2010 13:35

more the merrier clove...welcome!

good luck vickstaS

can you pop out into the garden with her allegro? but i bet she'll be just as happy with a snuggle on the sofa with you watching a dvd

well, since my last post i've had a bath and now no aches at all...hey ho!

Allegrogirl · 22/08/2010 14:38

tweakers we've been doing lots of snuggling but her obsession with Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo is driving me nuts. Feel a bit guilty about too much TV at the mo.

We've just made it to the corner shop for supplies and now she's playing in the birthing pool that DH has just inflated.

Good luck everyone. Let's hope none of us are on this thread for long.

tweakers · 22/08/2010 15:21

hmm, we've got a peppa pig obsession here. i absolutely hate it!! i reckon if we've ever got an excuse to have the tv on, its now.

DS (just 2) is really enjoying having our birth pool up but the child has no fear and keeps just launching himself off the side. He's scaring me witless!

tweakers · 22/08/2010 15:48

cloveofhislife · 22/08/2010 16:11

Thanks for the welcome tweakers and the roll call. Great to find so many to share the last few hours / days / weeks with.
I find these last few weeks from 37 weeks agony. Such mental torture!
I've tried all the home natural induction methods.
But I think because my cervix is so unfavourable, nothing will work!

Roz14 · 22/08/2010 16:45

Thanks tweakers - your a star! I was starting to get a little confused, so this list is graet Smile.

Oh by the way - Good luck for today VickstaS. Im sure we will be seeing another smiley face on the list before long.

I thought I had done most of my nesting but I had the urge to sort out my lunch box cupboard today in the kitchen, which is something I remember doing before I went into Labour with my DS. Also nipped across the road to Mothercare (I have got a retail park on my doorstep) and got measured for nursing bra's, so I am feeling really organised and pleased with myself today Grin

you're all welcome re list

it would be funny if we all started at the same time!!

part of me really wants this bump to baby conversion course to start but part of me is thinking that the longer she waits, the longer I have to finish off this last order!

right, i need to stop talking about it and get back to my sewing machine!

if i finish at a reasonable time. i'll be back later. now noone had better start having babies without me Wink

lovesaruby · 22/08/2010 20:02

Ooo, nice list tweakers - now see here, no-one below me had better pop next, those above, feel free, Im feeling your pain! My dd's are being extra evil at the mo, like their spidey-senses are tingling, they know change is afoot! Once the little darlings were in bed, had a nice bath followed by a gross, bloody show! Who knew Id be so excited by bodily gunk! Congrats to AnnaAug - hope to see some more babies tomorrow...(mine, please, please??!!)

poppy283 · 22/08/2010 20:21

Thanks for the list tweakers, nice to be part of a team! What do you make? I make jewellery but I closed my etsy shop the first week of August just in case - wishful thinking!!

This coming week I'm going to make new stock for the grand re-opening in October :)

tweakers · 22/08/2010 21:37

lovesaruby i thought the same as you re people below me had better not jump the queue!!
YAY re the show!!! sounds like you might just possibly maybe be next

inzi i had trouble restricting my dh to 'just the once'!!
I've been told its more effective if you enjoy yourself too Wink Apparently an orgasm will increase your oxytocin levels and they therefore encourage baby to make an appearance but who knows! But i've also been told that laughing has the same effect!

poppy i make anything and everything from brides' dresses to personalised baby gifts. I'm currently doing a big order of baby cubes. Each cube has a different letter on it (of the baby's name). This particular order is 3 names so a total of 17 cubes Confused I'm getting there though! fortunately i taught my DH to sew so he can always take over if the surges get too much to sew throughGrin
sounds like you were more sensible than me by shutting your shop! what jewellery do you make? are you a beader or a metal welder type person (sorry, don't know the technical terms but i am genuiunely interested!)

not much to report here, back aching again, surges seem to have started up..again so who knows. DH was trying to get out of ironing his shirts for work today by encouraging the baby to come!

HelenaCC · 23/08/2010 01:47

Hello all sorry to join in on an established thread but looking for kindred spirits here. Im 39+6 today (EDD Tue 23rd) So cant sleep and was looking to see if anyone else was out there waiting for their LO to arrive. This is DC1 for me so not got a clue what to expect for the start of labour. I suppose Id better lurch back to bed and try and get some sleep... but not before I check a few more threads!)

WelcometotheJungle · 23/08/2010 05:16

Hi ladies, can I jump into this thread, it's so refreshing.

Congratulations to those whose August bubs have arrived and best of luck and best wishes to those still waiting. There must only be a few left hey?

I am due on the 27th with DC3.

I've been pretty slack lately. I haven't listened to my NH disc for a few weeks and I haven't been to antenatal classes for 7 years.

So now I'm getting a lttle anxious, can anyone give me a crash course on 'the breathing thing?'

WelcometotheJungle · 23/08/2010 05:27

Just saw the list, wow, still a few more to go than I expected.

My DS was 10 days overdue so I'm hoping I will still have an August baby.

poppy283 · 23/08/2010 07:26

A show - yippee!! But Gross! and I think waters too - this could be the start of something chez Poppy :o

Tweakers you must be gifted to be able to make anything! I make mostly chain based jewellery, my website is bambiandsnowflake.etsy.com - it's on 'vacation mode' now but if you click on my sales it will show you the kind of thing I do, just on the side of my day job. I'm thinking silver jewellery and possibly a small clothing collection for my re-launch...

I wonder how the ladies with inductions booked are doing? Sening happy thoughts :)

Jen99 · 23/08/2010 07:40

Still here too. Been having lots of BH and period like pains and a show last night but all seems to have stopped again this morning. So frustrating! Got a Consultants appt on Thur to book in ELCS so need to get this baby out before then!

There must be some more arrivals soon!

tweakers · 23/08/2010 07:55

wow! we've got a show and two newcomers all in one morning!!

welcome helenaCC and welcometothejungle you are both more than welcome!!

poppy oh i really hope this is it for you!

jen99 sounds like what's happening with me (but without a show!)

just remember girls....these babies absolutely have to arrive at some point! Despite how comfortable they are where they are now, they can't stay there forever.... I hope!!

marzipananimal · 23/08/2010 08:25

hello, I'm 40+4 and fed up. Not a twinge so far. Never thought I would be looking forward to being in pain! I hope those of you who are already getting some pains/shows meet your babies soon (and the rest of us too!)

There's an antenatal thread for August babies herethat's been going for ages if you're interested. We've had lots of babies born already so some of the talk has moved on to breastfeeding etc but still lots of babies pending

tweakers · 23/08/2010 08:28

ooh and another one! welcome marzipananimal Smile
