Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

Hi Roz14, the sweep wasn't as bad as I was expecting, good thing really seeing as I went back for a second one Grin. It felt quite achey and was uncomfortable but not painful. I had the first one done at home so the poor MW had to clamber around on all fours next to me on a very springy bed, not very dignified but was quite funny! lots of cramps and BH afterwards but then it all eased off again.

Jen99 · 18/08/2010 21:13

Can I join too? 39+5 today and seriously fed up and uncomfortable, not helped by slipping over on Monday and now have a suspected broken toe! They won't x-ray as pregnant and in any case there's not much they can do with it. So I'm now hobbling round with a walking stick and can't drive!
DC2 and am hoping for a VBAC but as DS1 was almost 2 weeks late and I was induced not convinced this baby will be here any time soon. Will be an ELCS at 10 days overdue so at least I can say no more than 12 days to go, though seems like forever atm.

Whose going to the first then?!

MintChocAddict · 18/08/2010 21:32

I'm here too! 40+10. Attempted sweep x2 but cervix unreachable. The joys!
Induction on Friday if nothing before then.
Glad to hear I'm not alone. Smile

Roz14 · 18/08/2010 21:45

Jen99 - oh no. that is really rubbish for you. A broken toe is the last thing you need at this stage. You never know this baby might suprise you and come a little earlier than the others!

That has really reassured me noodleysoup. I imagined it to be a bit like having a smear or internal - as in labour. It must be so frustarting that it didn't work for you. Are you going to be induced?

hello, I am 38+ 6, due next friday

am BRICKING IT. am going to read "childbirth without fear now".....

this is my second!

good luck everyone

I am OK, but huge, and seem to have lots of energy

had a prang today in car which I could have donbe without....

noodleysoup · 18/08/2010 22:11

Roz14 - I'm being induced on saturday (42 weeks) if nothing has happened by then. Just getting very frustrating as MW said after 1st sweep on sunday that baby was very low, cervix very thin, 2cm dilated. Had second sweep on Tuesday and it was supposedly looking even better and now 3cm dilated but still nothing. Seems like things are progressing but just very slowly.

lovesaruby · 19/08/2010 08:11

Woke up still pregnant...was very much hoping she wouldve made her way out in the night and put herself to sleep in the crib without waking me..! Oh poo! Hope one of you has a baby today!

tweakers · 19/08/2010 08:49

lovesaruby that really made me smile! when i started reading your post i thought it'd be 'woke up still pregnant..was hoping to have found my water broke during the night..."
but no, you took it one step further Grin

dancing honestly, having a sweep isn't anything to worry about. just make sure you get yourself nice and relaxed, deep breathing and all that. you'll be fine Smile

porca i'm 38+ 4 ish i think and i've woken up feeling really energised this morning too! do you reckon there's something in the air or....could this be it???

jen a broken toe? you poor thing! i broke mine and it was bad enough when i wasn't pg. was quite funny though, i was recovering from breaking my back and DH was helping me unload the shopping from the car by carrying all the bags that were too heavy for me and yup, he dropped one on my foot Hmm I milked that one for all it was worth!

noodley ooh, but it sounds like things are moving in the right direction though. i prescribe you a fast walk round the block!

porcamiseria · 19/08/2010 08:58

tweakers, nah! I dont know, they come when they come

I have started reading "childbirth without fear" and it has calmed me down a little bit

due next Fri, you???

tweakers · 19/08/2010 09:08

sunday..i think Blush I don't pay much attention to the EDDs.. they always seem a bit of a stab in the dark! I'm pretty sure i was due next Fri originally!

if you're feeling anxious, def try and only read/think about positive birth experiences

how old's DC1?

Roz14 · 19/08/2010 09:10

Hi Ladies - I seem to be going to bed everynight thinking tonight may be the night my waters go (just like with DS) but no joy. Due next thursday and I am sure the baby is going to make me wait, even though my DH keeps teeling me he has got a feeling that the baby will be here before my birthday next wednesday.

Lovesaruby - that would be nice but I dont think the babies will let us off that easily Grin

Porca - where is your energy coming from - I feel shattered but today I have decided to keep myself busy and do some decorating whilst my DS goes around to his friends house for lunch. You never know, it may be just the thing to get things going!

Yes still hoping for the home birth!

Crossed the magical 37 weeks line last Sunday so hopefully all straight forward from here on in!

BH are major now so i'm hoping won't be too far off.

Wouldn't worry about the home birth box, really not a lot in it as they bring all the 'equipment' and more importantly g&a! with them on the day.

Have you told you midwife or labour ward you don't have it?

tweakers · 19/08/2010 09:58

when my waters went with DS, i was sitting on a hospital bed (waiting to go home Hmm) and my first thought was 'shit, i've just wet myself'! despite it being my EDD for DS Grin

dancing no, i'm not worried about it (esp after you kindly told me what it contained!) i'm confident everything will fall into place when the time comes Smile
are your boys excited?

oh and my mum reminded me that it would have been my nan's b'day next Tuesday so that that would be a lovely day to give birth on. I told her I"d let baby know!

is anyone else getting fed up with phoning people? everyone i phone answers the phone with a 'oooh is baby here' hello at the moment! they're then disappointed when i ramble on about what i actually want to talk to them about!

poppy283 · 19/08/2010 10:35

It's my due date!

BH getting longer and I had some period-type pains last night, but I'm still pesimistic, wish I knew what signs to look out for - I was so convinced I'd be just like my mum, nice and early!

My friend text me at 3 o'clock this morning asking if I'd 'popped yet' - she's not getting a reply!!!

MW said she could do a sweep on Monday but I'm really considering politely declining, I've never had anyone poking around down there and I'd rather put it off until I'm in labour and don't care about my dignity...

VickstaS · 19/08/2010 10:42

I really thought last night would be the night, BH about 20 times an hour all day yesterday and am now 40+9. But no, I am still pregnant this morning.

sigh

CakeandFineWine · 19/08/2010 10:53

Hi all, can I gatecrash too, technically I'm early Sept, I'm 37+5!
Was told after DD1 would under no circumstances be able to go over 38 weeks with future babes, changed their mind in Tues v.frustrating as I finishd work with that in mind! Had DD1 at 36 weeks, this baby (DD2) is a bit small and I have low fluid levels.
Really thought it would be early as consultant said "oh you'll probably go into natural labour at 36 weeks!!" why do they say these things?
BUT Sat night had bit of a show initally quite bright red turing brownish had period like cramping and strong BH on/off yest. Also TMI Blush but really thick creamy stringy D/C yest and diahorrea and icky yest. Promising signs or reading into nothing?? and getting slightly obsessed Grin

VickstaS · 19/08/2010 10:57

All sounds far more promising than anything I have had, C&FW!

CakeandFineWine · 19/08/2010 11:00

Oh I honestly think I'll g crazy if I go over so my heart really goes out to you vickstas is it your first? I really think I could be reading into it too much or this will go on for weeks Shock

DancingOnMyBladder · 19/08/2010 11:06

I have that too! When i call my mum at work especially i can here the whispers round the office ..... is it on it's way? And so disappointed when i'm just asking something mundane. So now i just do it more to wind them up....... Smile

tweakers · 19/08/2010 11:28

dancing whereas i've stopped phoning people!

poppy happy due date to you!

C&FW it does sound promising! but know what you mean about reading into every little twinge/ache/DC!

the thought of going past EDD is not a good one Confused

birdofthenorth · 19/08/2010 15:10

I'm 40+2 and no signs of owt occurring.

Worry she is holding out for baby a September baby!!!!

DancingOnMyBladder · 19/08/2010 15:46

I have given myself a 'to do' list for every day. Nothing too important (those things are done) but 5 or 6 things to check off and make it feel like the time is actually passing. Many times i'm not getting through everything though and hubby keeps laughing at 'Name School Uniform' keeps getting transferred to the the next day! Grin

tweakers · 19/08/2010 16:39

I've got my own business selling home-made clothes, baby presents etc and I've got a huge order to get finished before baby's here so actually, its not such a bad thing if she stays where she is for a couple more days from that point of view! That's the sensible me talking. The pregnant me just wants to meet her NOW!! Grin

poppy283 · 19/08/2010 17:01

Thanks tweakers! Not that happy though, I want my baby now!
Just scaled an epic hill and 5 flights of stairs, am now officially On A Mission.

tweakers · 19/08/2010 17:12
