Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 13/09/2010 21:24

After all the waiting and stress I gave birth to baby Luke weighing 9lb 2 oz at 5.30 this evening. Just waiting for dh to put the seat in the car to go home. One gel was enough, left for hospital at 2.15pm and was 7cm when we arrived. Pushed him out with tens and g&a as pain relief, had few probs because of lip on one side of cervix but with 3 fantastic midwives getting me in a good position natural unassisted delivery was possible :)

Roz14 · 13/09/2010 22:50

That is absolutely fantastic news cinnamon - I bet you are so happy to be heading home. I am happy that you got your natural delivery and little Luke is such an healthy size. Well done and enjoy your first evening with your baby Smile

Yay!! Smile Great news Cinnamon. Really pleased things worked out well in the end. Well done for managing the pain with g&a, welcome to the world Luke!

Embarrassing story.. I went to the GP yesterday about my fanjo and he took a swab so I need to wait for results. While I was in the waiting room I saw someone I know (aquaintance rather than friend), she pointed at my belly and said very loudly HELLO YOU TWO!!! WOW WHEN's IT DUE? I was very embarrassed and muttered 'erm.. no I had it 10 days ago' she misheard and again very loudly said OOHHH YOUR 10 DAYS OVERDUE!!! again I mumbled 'no I mean I had the baby 10 days ago'Blush then the penny dropped and she didnt know what to do so she came over and hugged me which made me burst into tears!!! Sad I was quite pleased with how much my tummy had shrunk but being mistaken for being 10 days overdue was just so upsetting, I went home to DH and cried my eyes out.

tweakers · 14/09/2010 13:22

sorry emma but you just made me smile! I have an equally large tummy so pleased its not just me

cinnamon WOW!!!! FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!! i'm so pleased for you!!! i'd better get your smiley on the list pronto!

roz dd is called Penelope and weighed 8lb 5

porcamiseria · 14/09/2010 14:58

well done cinnamon, so pleased all came OK!!!

me too emma, went to laundrette to get a service wash (my new discovery, get lovely folded warm laundry back, 2 bags for twelve quid) and woman asked me if I had one on the way!!!!! cheers!!!

how tired are people???, its been a week now and I have hit a bit of a wall, was going to go for a drive but decided it would not be safe

cant even face visitors yet, but thats fine, no rush

tweakers · 14/09/2010 16:51

ooh sorry i haven't done the list yet..i'm on dh's computer. as soon as i'm back on mine i'll update but in the meantime, cinnamon, these are for you SmileSmileSmile

porca i'm not tired but physically exhausted. i'm having a blood test tomorrow to check iron levels because of amount of blood i lost. just moving from upstairs to downstairs necessitates me needing a rest atm
never even thought of having a service wash done but that does sound lovely
dh doing our washing at the moment. i've just told him that he's doing an amazing job looking after us all but as from now, he's banned from putting any knitted items in the drier. one of dd's cardigans is now too small even for her and it started off at size 3-6mths Biscuit

cinnamongreyhound · 14/09/2010 21:15

Thank you all for your congratulations, am enjoying my little man and feeling much better than I did after my first birth despite a much longer pushing stage and every muscle in my body aching!!

Is that it now, have all the babies arrived?

I'm SO tired. Had a couple of visitors in the first couple of days but then put a stop to them as I started to feel progressively worse rather than better.

I'm also crying a LOT. MIL is really winding me up with her advice. She keeps asking if I've got him into a routine yet, he is only 12 days old FFS!! Angry He will only sleep when being cuddled (normal for a newborn isn't it?)and I'm getting told I must 'toughen up' and leave him to cry etc etc or I'm making a rod for my own back, blah blah. I'm so raw from childbirth both physically and emotionally I could do without all this nagging, I just want to be left alone to cuddle my baby and worry about routines and sleep patterns when he is a bit older than 12 days!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/09/2010 10:33

EmmaRoyd was about to reply but Luke has just woken up, I will be back in a bit but please don't feel bad at all for cuddling your baby!!!!

porcamiseria · 15/09/2010 17:42

god EMMA your MIL needs to shut up!!!! hope you both start to feel stronger. I am taking it super easy too

thats why I am avoiding visitors, i am anticipating some nuggets when my mum gets back from holiday this weekend. and next weekend we have 2 major family parties....

I am going to bed early, and sleeping in the mornings later which helps.

but have to say its much MUCH nicer second time, in hindsight I think I was PND a bit after DS1, bless him

another question, how often are you BF. The books says every 2-3 hours, WTF! my little man seems to eat almost hourly!!

tweakers · 15/09/2010 17:54

emma just off to do dinner but please please ignore mil. the first 3mths of a baby's life outside of you is also known as the fourth trimester for a very good reason. all they have known for the last nine months is being close to you and, in my opinion, it'll take at least 3 mths to adjust

EmmaRoyd · 15/09/2010 18:22

Thanks that makes me feel better Smile

As for feeding, he can occasionally go 2-3 hours between feeds but more often than not will spend long periods snacking every hour, he was like that this morning, hungry and unsettled. He is sleepy this afternoon though, no doubt gearing himself up for a lively night!

DancingOnMyBladder · 15/09/2010 20:06

Hi ladies and babies!

Sorry it's been ages since i've been on but time has flown by and i can't believe my DD (even writing that after two boys feels weird!) is 2 weeks old tomorrow.

Congratualtions to everyone who had their babies since i came on, all have gorgeous names and lovely to read your birth stories.

Love to all- I hope you are enjoying this next step as much as i am and not missing pregnancy too much Wink

tweakers · 15/09/2010 20:29

i'm back, shall i leave my soap box in the car emma? Wink

bf... during the day i'm having to wake DD (Dancing, i agree, its weird for me to type it too after 2yrs of 'DS'!) for a feed. I suspect if she was left to her own devices she'd go without all day but... at night its a different story, 'hourly' just about covers it! but i have found that the more i wake her during the day, the longer the stints of sleep are at night. i'm just going with the flow at the moment, i'm not keeping track of how long it is between each feeds...either she tells me she wants milk (ie during the night) or my boobs do with a big let down and lots of leaking (during the day)!

DancingOnMyBladder · 15/09/2010 21:09

I am doing a similar thing.... she sleeps on and off all day between changes and feeds etc until about 7pm then she has her wakeful period until she has a last feed at 11pm when we go to bed. Touch wood it has meant she has been sleeping though till morning.

I messed up last night cos i fell asleep on the sofa with her all evening so she didn't get her awake time which tires her out and i ended up doing my first night feed. (I know she's really good and i'm very lucky so i'll go and hide now before you all start throwing rocks at me!)

tweakers · 15/09/2010 21:34

your first night feed????!!!!! a girl can go off people you know Wink

DancingOnMyBladder · 15/09/2010 22:07

sorry Blush

feel free to banish me from the thread.

she's a little angel but i know it's a luck and nothing i've done

how are you getting on tweakers- we both got our home births! woo hoo!

tweakers · 15/09/2010 22:09

did someone say something?

tweakers · 15/09/2010 22:09

only kidding!

tweakers · 15/09/2010 22:16

kept meaning to ask if you'd had her at home! that's great news! well done! how did it all go? i hope you used everything in the mightily useful home birth pack they gave you! not even sure mine got opened but it seems to have disappeared since last tuesday so presumably the mws took it with them

oh and did you ever finish sewing the name tags on?

DancingOnMyBladder · 15/09/2010 22:23

Of all the days she wasn't supposed to come on thurs 2nd because it was ds2's first day but i got them off safely dispite having contractions in the playground! came home and had a lovely labour and born at 4.30pm ready for the boys to come meet her after dinner at nannas. Even though we knew she was a girl, nobody else did so it was nice revealing the surprise!

And no i don't think much of the birth box got used! lol

tweakers · 15/09/2010 22:27

ah that's lovely. and the name tags?Wink

DD timed her arrival well too. it all started at roughly the time we used to get DS up to take him to my mum's on days i was working. so was a reasonably normal day for him at nanna's. but despite him being only just 2, he was well aware it wasn't a normal day. he seemed to know something was happening with his mummy even though i thought i'd hidden the contractions from him pretty well!

tweakers · 15/09/2010 22:29

right, DD's just finished a big feed so i'm off to bed to hopefully get some sleep

night all, hope you all get a few hours of sleep in
