Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

dancing you are BANNED!!!!! 11 till morning, fuck me!!!!

mine is same constant day snacking, then sleep in 2-3 hour stretches at night, with a few "unsettled periods" usually 3 am for good measure

glad I am not only one waking baby in day time, feels cruel but you've gotta do it

but you know what, when he is alseep in the day I miss him anyway!!!

next weekend we have TWO massive family bashes so am going to have to expose the engorged boobs and feed in public, ugh ugh ugh

WelcometotheJungle · 16/09/2010 17:31

Hi ladies,

Congrats cinnamon.

I am here, somewhat sleep deprived (didn't see that coming).

I have to go and have my fanjo stitched up 2 wks post delivery which will be fun.

My boy is a dream.

Will try to catch up and post again soon.

Best of luck new Mums with all that motherhood throws at you!

EmmaRoyd · 17/09/2010 19:23

Porcamiseria I also have a family bash next weekend, a wedding so I can't even wear a breastfeeding top, got to wear a wedding outfit that is completely impractical for feeding. At least we are staying at the venue so I can keep sloping off to our room.
Welcometothejungle is it because you weren't stitched properly afterwards? I'm worrying my tear isn't healing as it should be and I'm going to be left with a cavernous fanjo.

Roz14 · 17/09/2010 22:04

Hi ladies - seems ages since I did my last post.
The days seem to be rolling into one - it seems ages ago now since we all seemed to have a little bit more time to submit regular posts.
How are all the babies? My little lady so far is being really good. She has been settling down at around 11.30pm and waking up for one feed at about 4.30am then sleeping until around 8.30am. This is a totally different experience compared to my DS who fed regularly every two hours. Mind you, I have been doing a mixture of breastfeeding alongside top-ups which I know can make a big difference to how much they sleep.
I have been feeling really guilty though because 10 days on and I still haven't made a definate decision on her name. We were calling her Esther but some how the name just doesn't seem to suit her, so now looking at some of our back up names - Isabelle and Florence. I can't believe that I am feeling so uncertain about her name at this stage.
Porca and Emma - try not to worry too much about your family do's. I am sure you will have a great time.
Welcome to the Jungle - Sorry to hear about you having to go for stiches 2 weeks on.

Porc and Emma - I went to my sisters weddind and had expressed milk in a bottle. The photos taken toward the end of the night show me in a lovely dress with these obscenely massive norks trying to burst out! Blush.

Emma - After the delivery the MW told me I had "a tiny little tear that will probably heal up on it's own".
When I queried this with the ob he said " yes they heal on their own, very rarely we have to stitch them afterward".

Next visit to ob "Aah, yes it hasn't healed you'll need to come in and have it stitched".

So I am a rare case too.

If you're concerned about yours go and see the OB sooner rather than later. Good luck.

My baby James is a great milk monster but is not keen on sleeping alone, I have to really work at getting him to sleep in his bassinette.

Roz - Envy at your baby's sleeping habits! Don't stress about the name. Take your time, it's only you worrying this much. Baby will have it forever, wait til your certain.

EmmaRoyd · 18/09/2010 16:12

My first was born with the aid of ventouse after 3 HOURS of pushing stage and it took a whole hour to stitch me up afterwards.

This time baby was out in 3 big pushes however the old tear re-opened. In the last two days the stitches have dissolved but the tear hasn't knitted together. It's really upsetting me. I phoned the midwife today and she said to swab it with DETTOL Shock. And that it would heal on its own. So is it true then that it can heal on its own? even if its a big tear or a old tear re-opened?

My DS can't sleep on his own either, at the moment he is in bed with me and DH is in the spare room. While he is feeding every couple of hours its just easier to have him next to me.

Roz, yes I agree spend some time thinking about the name and don't be pressured into making your mind up too quickly.

Roz14 · 18/09/2010 17:39

Thanks Jungle and Emma for making me feel a little better about the name situation. We have narrowed it down yet again to Florence Anabelle or Anabelle Florence. We have decided to not go with Isabelle or Esther in the end. I think I might open another name thread although I think other MN's are going to think I am crazy Blush.

I am sorry you are both having so much trouble with your recovery. I am sure that everything will heal up nicely in the end. If it is really upsetting you Emma, you should keep in contact with your MW and get her to come and have another look. Sometimes you just have to be a little persistant with them Smile

My midwife said that I had a small tear that was bleeding so should be stitched. She said often small ones that are left take much longer to heal than big ones that are stitched emmaroyd, so I would say get a second opinion.

I had a question about bleeding, mine seemed to have slowed down a lot but yesterday I passed a lump of something and it's heavier today than it was yesterday, just wondered if anyone else experienced this?

Luke is doing well thanks Roz14, he feeds well but nowhere near as much as ds1! I have to get him to sleep on me but if I wrap him up when I put him down he stays asleep for at least an hour most times. I'm enjoying it all so much more this time around :)

EmmaRoyd · 19/09/2010 07:06

cinnamon I had a similar thing. I was having pains and despite being ultra hygienic to avoid getting and infection in my stitches, I started to smell and I realised the smell was coming from inside. I also had a fever and felt generally terrible so knew I had some kind of infection. My bleeding had pretty much stopped but then I was standing in the shower and something plopped out, it was GROSS. I would say it was the size of a large anchovy. This was followed by a load of slimy bloody discharge which stank! After that I had a day of bleeding but I felt so much better in myself. The next day the bleeding stopped and I felt 100 times better, no more pain or fever so didn't need to take antibiotics afterall. My body expelled everything naturally, eventually.

yes I will get a second opinion about the stitches, Ive read a couple of threads on MN where opinion seems divided, some people have refused stitches even with 2nd degree tears.

Those of you with other children, how are they coping? DD has started to have hysterical tantrums, I think its jealously manifesting itself at really unpredictable times.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/09/2010 08:16

Ds1 is very teary and cries about very small things. He's not had any more tantrums than usual, just when he's very tired or hungry. He is 3 and 5 months so he understands quite a lot I think, plus he's very independent so I don't think he's been hugely affected by the baby's presence so far. Yesterday he started talking about Luke more and wanted to help me with him and gave him some cuddles :)

WelcometotheJungle · 19/09/2010 15:04

Cinnamon and Emma - sounds like you both may have passed retained products (probably from the placenta). I would most definately mention this to a Dr in case there is more that may cause infection. Emma, I would definately seek a second opinion.

DS1 is playing up a bit but he's very glad my whole lap is back for him to sit on. Both DCs have kisses and songs for the baby so that's good.

WelcometotheJungle · 19/09/2010 15:19

Sorry, don't mean to sound all doom and gloom.
Grin

On a lighter note, it's day 17 and we've got all three DCs asleep at the same time (9pm), I've cooked dinner for DCs two nights in a row, cleaned up and sat with DH watching telly / MN.

Yay, some semblance of normality is back ... yippee!

(Mind, I did spend all day breastfeeding and I am still in my pyjamas 10pm).

porcamiseria · 20/09/2010 09:12

sorry no posts have been TIRED! keep thinking I am OK then play with DS1 and get massive aches and pains. hope the fanjos are recovering, we must remeber its still early days no? cos it was easier I seem to expect to be back to normal, and i am so NOT

but its amazing how you cope on 3 lots of 2 hours sleep

i will NOT obsess about sleep this time, what will be, will be

cinnamongreyhound · 21/09/2010 17:30

Hi All,

Been quiet the last few days, must be all the babies taking up everyones time!

I am feeling so much better today, haven't really had much discomfort from my stitches but just felt so weak and wobbly around my abdominal muscles and very achey around my pelvic floor which I guess it just down to general weakness. Feel much more like myself today, went to toddler group and managed to pull DS1 out of the ball pit. Did loose my baby for most of the session though, although there was a 2 day old baby there who was 7lb 11 and made Luke look like a 3 month old! He's so alert when he's awake he looks much older than his 8 days. I'm so happy that feeding him has been much easier than DS1 but my nipples are still sore even if they have remained in tact this time Grin. Getting used to getting up twice in the night and Luke is going back to sleep once he has fed now so I am not loosing too much sleep.

CakeandFineWine · 21/09/2010 19:08

Hi all, sorry I've been a stranger but with DD1 starting school (with a horrendously long phasing in period) routine and any time for MN went out the window for a couple of weeks!!
CONGRATS to everyone on their babes.....

Orla is now 19 days old and feeding well, nipples initally cracked but now all healed. BUT fanjo is not in a good way does anyone else feel like there's something just inside?! hard to explain but I have this horrible sensation on and off like when your tampon isn't in properly?
I def didn't have that last time but don't think I pushed anywhere near as hard? Sorry if TMI but childbirth/pregnancy left my dignity behind Wink

tweakers · 22/09/2010 12:06

morning all, it seems we've all been a bit awol!
re fanjo: yup, re getting second opinion.. i had an infection in mine, just finished anti-bs but it still feels pretty tender where i was stitched (tear from DS opened up)
re sleep: Biscuit
re DS being an older brother: he's only just two but is being amazing with DD. loves changing her nappy with me (although we're accompanied by a chorus of 'eurghs'!)

erm, sorry, can't remember what else i was going to say!

porcamiseria · 23/09/2010 18:18

sorry for all the fanjos

i am feeding hourly, or two hourly if lucky

nuff said!!!

porcamiseria · 23/09/2010 18:19

plus my mum is giving helpful NOT advice about how often i feed

she thinks he should sleep thru by ten weeks

HA HA HA FUCKINH HA

cinnamongreyhound · 24/09/2010 20:05

Why ten weeks? I was very lucky with ds1 and he slept through from 8pm until 6am from 14 weeks but each baby is so different so I'm not expecting to be as lucky again.

Hope everyone is feeling better and babies are settling a bit more. I'm taking an extra week off which has made me feel much happier but generally I'm good, apart from being tired.

WelcometotheJungle · 25/09/2010 06:44

Hi ladies, I won't go into details about the nasty fanjo stitch up but I did take one of DHs painkillers that day.

Then I spoke to a pharmacist who said you'll need to express and discard for 24 hours, so bub had formula for that period. I swear that now my boobs can't keep up with him, I'm hoping they'll get back on track but he's had to have formula (in addition to BM and sucking for stimulation).

Sad

No offense intended for those who FF. It appears very satisfying, my bub loved it!

EmmaRoyd · 29/09/2010 12:34

welcome have your boobs caught up yet?

re Fanjo's - can't remember which one of you said it, but i now the feeling similar to having a tampon not inserted properly. I want to walk down the street (or even round the house) and not be aware of my fanjo the whole time!!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/10/2010 17:17

Hi all, hope everyone is well and babies are behaving!

Luke is pretty good until 6.30ish and then he cries for a couple of hours most evenings! Feeding is going really well, nipples no longer even vaguely sore although I have had mastitis :-(. He sleeps 9.30 until 1 or 2 and then again until 5 or 6 so I can't complain.

Back to work tomorrow so will see how I feel then! Take care all x

Flossiebelle · 18/10/2010 21:20

Hi all - it is Roz14 here. I changed my nn to Flossiebelle whilst I was getting opinions for my now 6 week old baby girl. I felt a little Blush asking for more and more opinions on baby names so thought I would change my identity Wink. Hope you are all well and enjoying your August/September arrivals. It has been a little quiet on here - maybe it is time to start up a new thread. What do you think??? Hmm Grin
