Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

Yes!!! My due date is tomorrow and I stupidly convinced myself I was going to be early ( it's my first but family history suggests early first babies) so now I'm already completely frustrated! I've had strong and regular BH this week but now I'm ignoring anything that doesn't hurt as it just leads to disappointment :( is this your first too? X

lovesaruby · 18/08/2010 08:34

Morning - Ill join you! 40+1 today with no.3 and even though dd1 and dd2 were both induced in the end, I had (ridiculous!) high hopes that this one would be different! Doesnt help that Ive been having alot of stop/start contractions and a show this time and after being told by a midwife at 38 weeks I wouldnt make 40 weeks, I was feeling all optimistic! Silly me! Good luck to you both and I hope your babies come sooner rather than later, theres nothing worse than the last few days in limbo, be it your first or third time! x

tweakers · 18/08/2010 08:39

morning, i'm 38+3 with number 2. i've woken up after not much sleep feeling v emotional. I too thought DD would be early, but I'm trying to keep it in my head that we've still got two more weeks of this

Roz...where are you getting your sharp pains? i'm getting some at the bottom of my bump on the left. i'm assuming they're just stretching pains? who knows! hey, you'd think i'd know what i was doing second time round!

tweakers · 18/08/2010 08:40

oh and Roz, is yours a constant pain? mine is coming in waves Hmm

poppy283 · 18/08/2010 08:40

Hi lovesaruby! MW told me the same, 'make an appointment for 39 weeks but I don't think you'll keep it' - gah!
Good luck to you too x

Cosmosis · 18/08/2010 10:34

Yes! am 39+3 with first and am mostly just uncomfortable now. No signs of anything, no pains, no show, nothing. Pah.

I have an appointment a week today and my mw also said she wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't there, but I think she's wrong!

Allegrogirl · 18/08/2010 10:38

I'm due with DC2 on the 22nd. Head fully engaged and getting needling pains very low down and period type cramps for hours at a time so not contractions. Otherwise nothing. Got MW appointment next Wednesday but she doesn't expect to see me. I think she's being optimistic.

I wish the MW wouldn't keep saying this one is going to be bigger than my first. Do I need to know that?

poppy283 · 18/08/2010 11:13

Allegrogirl - MW said similar to me about the size! I was measuring small for dates for ages, but now she says I'll probably have a 'good sized' baby, great!

She also said baby's in the perfect position for being born Smile

So what's the hold up?! Hmm

peppapighastakenovermylife · 18/08/2010 11:58

40 + 3 and in some kind of slow labour and going slowly round the twist.

DC3 - both others were here by now. Mild contractions every 5 - 10 minutes, big show but nothing going anywhere.

Meh.

mrsspock · 18/08/2010 12:05

DD 11th August, nothing doing here. sick of curry and walking..had contractions a few days ago, nothing doing now...maybe i'm actually having an elephant and i have another 9 months to go (or whatever their gestation period is)

vix206 · 18/08/2010 14:03

40+3 with absolutely no signs of anything happening at all. This is my first baby and a boy so I kind of thought he would be late but it is still driving me around the bend! Not even having BH's (don't think I've ever had one) just get the occasional very sharp cervical twinge but nothing else.

DancingOnMyBladder · 18/08/2010 14:13

I feel like a fraud since i'm not technically due till first week of sept but can i join you?

I'm 37+ 3 and have a week left of work..... after that please can i have my baby????

poppy283 · 18/08/2010 16:29

Come on in dancingonmybladder! That last week of work was so exhausting, even with maternity cover doing all my work for me, how are you doing?

noodleysoup · 18/08/2010 16:40

I'm 40+10 and desperately trying to encourage my baby to come out as I really don't want to be induced :( . I've had 2 sweeps so far and each time the MW has said I'm really close and that she is convinced the baby will come that night but then nothing. Been trying a bit of gentle hoola-hooping today!

VickstaS · 18/08/2010 17:00

40+8 here. Having a sweep on Friday, induction booked for Sunday!

miragefr · 18/08/2010 17:27

40+8 here too and slowly going mad. Sweep on Friday as well and induction booked for Tuesday. Hoping that it will pop out before then!

AnnaAug · 18/08/2010 18:49

Oh I love this post - have been feeling so sorry for myself! Due date was yesterday and I'd somehow convinced myself that the baby would be early (1st baby). Several friends and all NCT ladies have had their babies within last few weeks - and it feels a bit like babies everywhere but not here!!

I get very excited if I have any random pains, if braxton hicks go on for a while, or I get diarrhoea (I honestly NEVER thought there would come a day where I'd get excited by that!) - but nothing seems to lead anywhere.

Am seriously fed up. Midwife hasn't even mentioned sweep or induction, just "maybe see you on 23rd August, maybe not!" So just lots of sitting round being bored!!

Roz14 · 18/08/2010 18:52

Poppy - I totally feel your frustration. This is my second baby (the first was plus 7) over my due date but am convinced this one would come early due to all the BH I have been getting!!!

tweakers - I have been getting some sharp pains around the front of my bump but I have been getting them and pressure mainly around my back and backend Blush I keep feeling that I need to go to the Loo but when I get there nothing! I have not really had a show but been getting this really gross white discharge Blush that the MW said was completely normal at this time.

Another thing that I have had for the past few days is a sickness feeling - like I had at the beginning of the pregnancy. After speaking to the MW today, she said that this was a positive sign because it means that I am producing a hormone that usually is produced to kick start early "period type pains" in labour so we shall see!

I am glad it is not just me who is getting overly excited over every twinge. Like I said I have still got 8 days to go until my EDD but am feeling really uncomfortable. I dread going to bed because night time is just crazy. I am either up half of the night at the loo or turning over (with great difficulty) to try and get comfortable.

noodlysoup - how did you find your sweep? I am absolutely petrified of having one. My waters broke naturally with my first (with the help of a birthing ball, that I bounced on and not rocked side to side)Grin so have never experienced having to have a sweep or being induced. I am going to try other methods with the help of my DH but he started to look a little scared of this after I mentioned it to him soon as he walked through the door this evening Wink

Is anybody else a bit worried about this. I could do with some reassurance if anybody has had one recently.

CageBird · 18/08/2010 19:09

I'll join too! I'm due tomorrow. Difference with me is that I've got the builders in so am quite keen to keep DC3 in for a while longer, till the painter has done some more at least...Was 8 days early with DC1 and on the day with DC2.

Though I am starting to get anxious at every little twinge and cramp, wondering if it's the start of things. It's enough to drive you mad!

tartyhighheels · 18/08/2010 19:16

I am sure it is ok for me to sneak in here as due on sept 1st but went into hospital at 33/34 and 35 weeks in labour a bit and had to have steroids and all that malarky.

So I am now 38 weeks today and had a show about 5 days ago and everyday since then, the odd hour or two of contractions and then nothing.... sick and tired of waiting.

This is DC4, the first was at 36 weeks the second and third at 38+ weeks. The baby has by comparison been a bit of a polava so far with 3 visits into hospital already.

The really great news is that I only had to get to 37 weeks for my homebirth (my third) so at least I am past the post for that now.

Mr Tarty is my prostoglandin sex slave and clary sage has made me smell like a wet labrador... mmm... sexy!

DancingOnMyBladder · 18/08/2010 19:34

Thanks Poppy!

I'm struggling with work i have to admit! I'm self employed so could have said no but i don't like letting people down and tbh i need the money! Now i wish that i'd finished weeks ago and was just sat on my rear eating chocolate! I have 2 boys already so they would have kept me busy enough!

I'm getting the strong BH too but nothing!

Hopw you all get good news soon! :)

tweakers · 18/08/2010 19:58

I had a sweep with DS at 9am on my due date Hmm Looking back I'm not sure why she did it and I didn't know enough at the time to say yay or nay so went with her advice. Waters broke on their own at noon and DS arrived at 1.45am the following morning

I actually didn't find the sweep too bad at all

DancingOnMyBladder · 18/08/2010 20:17

Hi Tweakers! Still on course for the home birth?

tweakers · 18/08/2010 20:34

Hiya Smile
we sure are! are you?
still no sign of our mysterious home birth kit though!
