Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

i'm having a hot curry tonight as well! (38+5 today)

saw mw today, and baby is only just engaged. she started talking about when i'd be induced etc and i feel a bit down about it all now

but, thinking positively.. DD has got 19days to arrive before our homebirth won't be 'allowed' so keeping fingers crossed and pelvis wide open Smile

DancingOnMyBladder · 20/08/2010 18:04

Tweakers - Was you induced for your DS?

tweakers · 20/08/2010 18:06

no, he arrived an hour after his due date but they were trying to book a date for it for 40+3. i've got a different mw this time and she seems more keen to wait until possibly even 40+12. just wished she hadn't mentioned it at all

DancingOnMyBladder · 20/08/2010 18:50

I agree it's a bit pessimistic (sp?) of her to be thinking of induction already. With my DS1 (10 days late) they still hadn't decided on induction even at that late stage, must have been really sure he'd come on his own!

Perhaps they should have though because he was over 10lb.

Ds2 came at 38+4 so a def surprise as i thought i'd be late again.

No clue as to when this one will arrive!

40+12 seems more realistic than 40+3 for induction..... I don't think you'll need it though. Cross fingers for you!

lovesaruby · 20/08/2010 19:13

No babies here yet then?! Not in my house either :( Saw midwife today who wouldnt do a sweep as only 40+3 so have to wait til Tuesday. Lots more bh's, bit more show, and feeling very crampy and premenstral. Its the only time you feel desperate for pain! Come on - bring it on - Raaahhhh! Sending out labour vibes to all!

Roz14 · 21/08/2010 06:32

No baby arrived here yet - Is anybody else suffering from insomnia? I have been awake since 4.30am and can't get back to sleep - ahh. 1 hour until my 3 year old wakes up, I am going to be knackered!!!

re insomnia....yes, me too!! i woke at 3.30 and couldn't get back to sleep! decided to try at 5.30 and DS woke at 5.35 Confused

hey ho

my curry just seems to have created a rather large amount of wind Blush Its amusing DS though..he keeps telling me off! Grin

oh and i just had my first 'is there any baby news' phonecall and we're still a week away from due date!!

Roz14 · 21/08/2010 14:23

Im sorry the curry didn't work out for you both. I can't get enough of the stuff usually, but had one a month ago and was put off due to getting bad heartburn and demolitioning loads of Gaviscon. I can't bring myself to have one until after the baby arrives.

I know what you mean about the phone calls. I have had one this afternoon and my due date is not until next thursday. Everytime I call and text somebody, they think I am in Labour Grin

i had a really exciting hour of surges earlier (i'm hypnobirthing so have 'surges' not 'contractions' Wink) I sent DH out with DS and yup, everything stopped
hey ho

iniz i'm impressed you made it out to the shops! that's way more than i'm managing at the moment!

roz i'm amazed re my lack of heartburn this time. sorry not meaning to rub it in or anything! i had it really bad with DS, drank gallons of gaviscon but hardly had any at all this time. from what i remember, its meant to indicate your baby will have alot of hair but DS was the least hairy baby i've ever seen!

iniz must be hard having DH working weekends.
so have you sorted out your 'poo breathing'? breathing the baby out is the only bit i'm not convinced about yet!

tweakers · 21/08/2010 20:57

oh and can i just say a little thank you to all of you on here. Its great being able to whinge at people who know exactly what you're going through

this has turned out to be a lovely little support group so round of applause for Roz for starting it all off! Grin

AnnaAug · 21/08/2010 23:10

There is something magic about this support thread... a few hours after I posted, my little one decided to appear! It was an incredibly quick and easy labour, which I didn't know was possible for a first baby (started at 1am, hospital at 9am, baby born at 11:54am - home by 11pm!)

I'm now a proud mum of a baby boy, Max, born on Thursday. He's gorgeous and I can't quite believe he's here and just so, so amazing.

I would post more... but shattered!

Just wanted to wish you all loads of luck with your deliveries - hope the rest of the August babies are born soon, quickly and safely!! xx

p.s - sorry if TMI, but sex worked where curries, raspberry leaf, brisk walks really didn't!! Breathing the baby out sounds bloody daft and I wanted every drug going - but I arrived too late for the drugs and the breathing thing does work wonders!! And when the baby's gone, so too is the bloody heartburn - thank god Smile

Roz14 · 22/08/2010 00:13

Wow - congratulations AnnaAug. Maybe there is something magic about this thread. I am going to keep on posting threads and see what happens. You must be thrilled and so proud of yourself having such a lovely birth experience - By the way, I love the name Max.

Thanks tweakers - it's also down to you and the other MN for keeping it going and being so supportive Smile.

I am still up at this late hour after partying at my cousins engagement do. I went to bed for a couple of hours this afternoon in preparation, been drinking too much cola (I imagine) and now I am sooooo wide awake. Hopefully will get a good nights rest tonight but we will see. Another new day, may bring another new baby Grin

DancingOnMyBladder · 22/08/2010 08:27

Congratulations Anna!!! Max is a lovely name!

I thought things were about to kick off here last night. I came over all weird- hot, shaky, couldn't get comfortable so ended up half naked, big fan right on me, slumped over a couple of beanbags! Very attractive!

Our two boys were out overnight staying at a relatives so was supposed to be having a lovely evening with hubby.

I've now been awake since 6am, downstairs with no kids and hubby still in bed. Oh well!

Happy birthing everyone- when you finally get there xxxx

CakeandFineWine · 22/08/2010 08:43

Oooh Congrats Anna!! Got my fingers x'ed for a birth like that which is probably v.unrealistic after last one...

So glad I'm nt the only person nt sleeping was up from 2:45-5:15am Sat night and couldn't get off to sleep last night, GGRHHH its driving me MAD!

Did everything yest went for a walk into town, sat bouncing on my DD1's spacehopper, raspberry leaf, Clary age oil, curry and sex! have a few signs today diahorrea (spHmm) period like pains in lower tum and back lots of BH BUT had them all before!!

Good luck to everyone else for more babies soon......

poppy283 · 22/08/2010 09:08

Wow congratulations Anna :) that's so lovely.

Been having some more period type pains and weird aches in my thigh with the usual BH but I've come to the conclusion this is never going to happen and nothing works!

Tried clary sage oil which makes me feel weird, which is more than anything else had managed, and I like the smell so will carry on with it!

How's everyone else holding up? I'm now 40&4 and going between misery guts and philosophical...

porcamiseria · 22/08/2010 09:11

only one down!!! congrats, and so pleased you had a good birth

me too for the 2am-5am insomnia

my heartburn has stopped, why? I was drinking gaviscon like water

energy OK but the minute I stop, I flop

This baby NEEDS to come this week as my Mum goes on a long booked holiday next weekend and she is on night duty

By the way I read "childbirth wihtout fear", I do recommend it if you are nervous. The other day I said to my friend "I feel like I am going into a room to be tortured for 12 hours" which was clearly NOT a very good attitude

I think sex is the only thing that works but DP not keen, looked at my fanjo in a mirror as have weird rash (TMI sorry) and I cant say I blame him

tweakers · 22/08/2010 11:05

ooh i've got achey thighs too! and some period type aches in my lower back but i've had all this before too!

congrats Anna! v pleased it all went so well, albeit a little quickly!

VickstaS · 22/08/2010 12:10

Congratulations Anna! My baby is not so keen on coming of his own accord and today is inducton day (40+12)! (Though it might not be - I have to phone the hospital at 1 pm to see if they have space). Wish me luck!

Allegrogirl · 22/08/2010 12:51

Due date to day and felling fed up. This is DC2 and I feel bad for neglecting DD aged 2.10. We usually go out a lot but I can barely walk now.

Head engaged since Monday/Tuesday, loads of cramps and tight painful bump. When is it going to happen?!
