GMTV are at it again-another survey about BFing

SofaKingFedUpOfSnow · 15/01/2010 07:01

here

I completed it out of curiosity. Some of the questions are really loaded and negative about BFing.

I've pointed out to them that they're not exactly unbiased as one of their major sponsors is nestle.

OK, it worked this time.

FFS. In the comment box I suggested another survey...

  1. Should people publicly admit to ever listening to so-called nutritional advice on GMTV

etc etc....

ShowOfHands · 15/01/2010 08:34

Oh yes I'm going to fill it in as dh as well. He'll have some choice comments to make I'm sure...

daffodilli · 15/01/2010 08:35

I'm hoping that they didn't mean the questions in the tone that I took them...otherwise definately a complaint needed

pokemonmum · 15/01/2010 08:36

Just heard it on tv and it made me mad...should you be ALLOWED!
Done the survey and told them exactly what i think about their negative attitude. As long as people are allowed to eat and drink in public babies should be given the same right.

Bicnod · 15/01/2010 08:38

Just filled it in and left quite a long message in the comments box.

Does anyone know, aside from Nestle link, why they are anti-breastfeeding? I find it bizarre.

ShowOfHands · 15/01/2010 08:38

And what age should a woman stop breastfeeding? 3 months, 6 months etc.

What a ridiculously worded question. Illiterate bottom feeders.

belgo · 15/01/2010 08:40

Completed and left a comment.

ShowOfHands · 15/01/2010 08:41

Why are they anti-bfing?

Well the answer's threefold:

Anyway...

I think it actually has a lot to do with their audience. They know their audience's attitudes to bfing as headed by cult leader Dr Jones and his smarmy face and nylon trousers. They aren't interested in facts or change or education but pandering to the pathetic attitudes spewing forth from the underdeveloped brains of the plankton that watch the show.

cory · 15/01/2010 08:42

Completed survey and left long message in message box. The whole thing is disgusting- it's not a survey; it's telling us that we should feel awkward about breastfeeding in public.

ShowOfHands · 15/01/2010 08:42

Allegedly btw.

Never watch the pile of wank.

Allegedly.

Bicnod · 15/01/2010 08:44

I didn't know Hilary Jones was anti-bf. I knew he was a smarmy twat but I didn't know about the anti-bf thing. Why why why???!!! Apart from anything else why do people care if other people bf?

Who's Hilary Jones?
That survey was awful, the question about should boobs ever be seen in public was just bizarre, and the what age should women stop BFing was just ridiculous. It didnt give an optin of whenever the mother chooses.
THe thing is I bet so many people who anti BFing in public, dont think anything of going topless on costa del sol!

NorkilyChallenged · 15/01/2010 08:52

He did WHAT? When did this happen?

Why do the breakfast tv programmes choose such vastly annoying doctors? I can't stand him or that woman on BBC Breakfast (every time I watch it she seems to say something factually inaccurate or out of date).

Bucharest · 15/01/2010 08:53

Was GM the extended bfer that went on the show and made him look the moron he actually is? When Squeaky (Lorraine thing) was trying to be a tiny bit more reasonable?

StealthPolarBear · 15/01/2010 08:53

yes, that was GreenMonkies, I think

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 15/01/2010 08:54

I also filled it in and had a rant, including this sentence: 'I find the idea that anyone would be against breastfeeding ludicrous, quite frankly, as it is by far the best way to feed a baby'.

Very about this- wtf about Hilary? Weirdo.

Oh yeah the 'how long' question- there was no 'as long as it suits mum + baby' type answer- I think it's different for everyone ffs!

girlylala0807 · 15/01/2010 08:55

slightlystressed...

he is a doctor, can be found on Dancing on Ice at the moment...

Anyway, does this survey not break some kind of a code or something? Can we sabotage it and force the correct information into the public sphere?

Bucharest · 15/01/2010 08:55

I've just read the results of the GMTV survey from last year,no surprises there, but the "nutritionist"'s comments are outrageous.

I've put the link to the survey on my FB status.

ShowOfHands · 15/01/2010 08:55

Hilary Jones is a dangerous breed of twat that appears to be pro-bfing but says things like bfing past 12 months is bizarre and unnecessary. Women who do it are trying to keep their children babies, stifling independence, doing it so that they don't have to have sex with their husbands and doing it for their own needs and not the baby's. Plus, past 12 months children develop sexual feelings about being bfed. He's a doctor you know. He is invited on GMTV as he Knows Things.

This is the sort of thing that GMTV promotes as 'fact' by getting Smarmy Doctor Face to say these things out loud on the television.

And don't get me started on his opinions on sex and women in general...

Bicnod · 15/01/2010 08:55

Seriously?! Or maybe she was using BF as a way to feed her child When did he bestow this wisdom on GreenMonkies?

ArcticFox · 15/01/2010 08:56

Why do they need to do another one? They only did the last one last June.

To be fair, in the article that reported the last survey HJ did advocate breast feeding but (no doubt cos he has to be mindful of Nestle's hurt feelings) he then tacks a bit on the end about how great formula is.

The only thing I could find on his negative views was on "extended breastfeeding"- i.e. beyond 1 year.

Bicnod · 15/01/2010 08:58

Sorry, cross-posts with everyone.

WTF? He says that children develop sexual feelings about being bfed beyond 12 months? Sorry but WTF??? I am agog.

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 15/01/2010 08:59

Why would bfing affect sex with dp? The only thing that affects us is lack of sleep- would be the same with ff!

picc · 15/01/2010 08:59

Thanks for pointing this out. Have just filled it in. And made a comment about stigmatising people who choose to BF.

allowed to BF in public????
