LOL Tigger!

3k · 07/09/2005 13:07

hehehe, But Eeyore is just sooooooooo cute!!

3k · 07/09/2005 13:10

I havent seen the rugs. I feel a trip to Bluewater coming up and especially to the Disney shop - it's based right by Mothercare too

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 13:15

3K - you could also try Ebay - type in Eeyore/Pooh under all categories and loads of stuff comes up for reasonable prices and a lot of it is brand new too. I've got a few foam wall pictures for about £1/£2 each, they had some rugs on there last time I looked too.

3k · 07/09/2005 13:18

oooooooooohhhhhhhhh I'm so excited!!! Going to look on there right now!! I did see the stuff in Argos too but it is a bit pink for our room as we are having a lot of yellow - maybe for next baby eh!!!

How are you today Tabs?

3k · 07/09/2005 13:20

They have towel sets on there!!!!!! All in Eeyore design, OMG!!!!

Tabs · 07/09/2005 13:25

Your poor, poor children!

I'm good thanks 3K. Think I might have felt some more 'bubbles' in my tummy last night. Still impatient for some proper movement though! Otherwise just plodding along, bit bored with work today, so spent lots of time making fishcake mixture this morning. House stinks of fish now!!

3k · 07/09/2005 13:33

I've gone completely off fish and chicken since being pregnant, I used to eat so much of it!! Last night made chicken in a sauce, left it and ate an orange for dinner!! I'm getting very bad!!

I have bid for some foamy wall stickers, they are great!! I'm going to have to get going on this nursery I think!

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 13:38

Weird you should say that 3k, that's exactly the foods I have gone off and chicken used to be my favourite meat too! Wonder if that's a common pregnancy thing? Don't be fooled by the wall stickers - they are great but are smaller in real life than they look on the screen - just so yu're not disappointed, I still love mine but I thought they were bigger.

3k · 07/09/2005 13:46

Thanks for tip on size, I think they will be ok.

It is a bit strange perhaps going off fish and chicken is common, I just dont want to eat dinners anymore, little meals and snacks are fine but I cant bring myself to eat anything big in the evenings. Seem to quite like oranges at the moment too.

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 13:50

I'm the same really, I'm ok with brekkie and a spot of lunch but as for main tea I could take it or leave it most of the time. DH is getting cross coz he says he has prob spent over £200 on wasted food on me at least I'm not eating for 2 though at the mo - was concerned I'd be a bit of a fatty during pregnancy as 'an excuse'!

Tabs · 07/09/2005 14:01

Obviously I've not gone off fish, or chicken. In fact I haven't really gone off anything! Just gone on to more chocolate and sweet stuff, which before I could take or leave.

Don't think I eat quite such big meals all the time though - prefer small and often. Being on my own most of the week means that I can pretty much have what I feel like too, without having to worry about what anyone else thinks/wants. Have gone off preparing veg, but still happy to eat it if someone else does it for me!! Had to start forcing myself to cook them again after I got constipated a few weeks ago.

RachelRog · 07/09/2005 15:32

I am feeling really pi**ed off.
Went to hospital yesterday and found out my risk of downs was 1:75 and was told risk of miscarriage was 1:200. As i wanted to be with my husband I went back today for an amnio and they couldn't do it!!! They tried twice and it was really uncomfortable.....nearly fainted on second attempt!....They said my membrane was really tough and they couldn't penetrate it.

They said to go back on Monday when they would try again...but I am scared to go back now! Really confused about what to do!

Does anyone know anyone who had the same problem??

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 15:43

Oh no Rach - what an ordeal! I think the question you need to ask yourself is would you do anything different if you were carrying a downs baby? If the answer is no then forget the amnio and be ok about the odds being in your favour. If you are already a high miscarriage risk (if 1:200 is classed as high) then is it worth having the amnio? I decided against the downs test purely for the fact that I wouldn't change anything but everyone is different. I hope everything works out for you

flamesparrow · 07/09/2005 17:21

Hi Rachelrog - sounds like a truly crappy day.

My gut says to me that if they tried to do the amnio twice and couldn't do it, then it is a sign that you're not meant to have it done. I'm assuming that its not a common problem (spoken to a few people now, and no-one heard of it before).

Huge huge hugs whilst you make your decision.

Would talking to someone like Thomcat help you? She has a downs daughter, and might be able to tell you a bit about the truth of life with DS.

(Possibly shouldn't offer out her services, but she can always tell you to sod off )

They said the membrane was tough and as the baby was positioned high it meant if they pushed too hard they would risk hurting the baby. The membrane just 'tented' downwards towards the baby (which was also very active while they were trying.)

I rang back later and was told it might be easier next time if the baby is positioned differently. He said it didn't mean you had more chance of a miscarriage if your membrane was tougher which made me feel better.

I think i will go back Monday and see but there will definately be no going back again after that....I think they will need to reassure me before I let them near me though!!

RachelRog · 07/09/2005 19:15

Amanda

So wrapped up in my own problems I never offered my sympathy about yours. It must be really hard to be doing this without a dp.....all that matters is you and the baby so I would tell them to butt out......I suppose I am lucky to have my dh to hold my hand and cuddle me when I am feeling crappy.....sometimes life is such a bitch and it is so easy to look on the negative side of things.

I hope it gets easier......when do you get your results?? I was hoping to be out of my misery by Friday but now I have more sleepness nights to contend with and problems sorting things out with work......also I should have been moving house on Friday and now it looks like next week......moan moan moan

Tabs · 07/09/2005 19:42

Oh Amanda - I hope you feel at least a little brighter when you wake up again. I read a few posts on your other thread the other day - I thought they were breaking up after you spoke to her, but I guess not then?

As far as the baby is concerned, you must do what you feel is right, and not what they want. This is a decision which will affect you for the rest of your life, and as much as breaking up with dp hurts so greatly right now, it will get easier with time.

Hoping that the time passes quickly until your results are in.

Rachel - pleased to hear that they were helpful when you rang back. Hoping Monday brings a better result one way or the other.

Tabs · 07/09/2005 19:46

Now on to TicTac - it sounds like you're having far too much fun over there! Are you taking in a Broadway show whilst you're there? Or going to that fabulous restaurant where they just keep on bringing you more and more meat until you turn your mat over (I usually fill up on the salads too much beforehand though )?

Frizbe · 07/09/2005 21:08

Rachel Rog, have a look at the March thread, as one of the girls is going through the same as you {{{Hugs}}} hope it all works out ok.

Amanda1, stuff em, she's just upset, cause he got you into this position in the 1st place and not her, she must be feeling rubbish too, as he'd obviously been stringing her along, when I seem to recall he was definatly with you, its his own bed he's made, and now he must lie in in. {{{Big Hugs}}} to you hon, we're all here for you.

Hope everyone else is ok, TABS can't believe you posting when on hols! but great that your having a fab time!

Frizbe · 07/09/2005 21:08

Doh! sorry TicTac!!! typical of me to mix you two up! and its the 2nd thread I've been on with you!!!

Frizbe - I tend to write back home when I am on holiday in the USA and give a nice account of events so I couldn't miss you lovely ladies out! Plus, the internet cafe is well air-conditioned and it is 30+ today..phew, too hot!

Amanda - Don't be sorry about spilling your troubles in here..we all like to try and offer support! This is such a tough one though.. I think it was Tabs that said to you just go with what is right for you and spend no more time considering the rest of them. Your baby needs your focus and any spare time you get right now should be looking after yourself!

Who had the amnio that failed twice (sorry, catching up really quickly and have forgotten) I am a really strong believer in fate and you where not sure about taking the test in the first place so maybe this is just fate giving you another chance to not take the test...you will worry yourself to death otherwise. Do you know what you will do with any results? If you do then base all your decisions on that!

I have felt really sick today but I think that might be more of a heat thing. I tried the doppler this morning (Tabs I could kiss you for talking me into it!!!) and went straight to TicTacs heart beat....cool! I BOUGHT SOME MATERNITY CLOTHES!

Tabs - Was going to go and see the Lion King but the cancellation tickets are still $160 each so I think we will have to give it a miss

Friday is my last day here so will be my last internet available day as we are hitting the road again then but I promise to post from somewhere the scan news!
