It's strange knowing in a way but good as we can plan the nursery and buy blue clothes and stuff. He is a little wriggler too, I wasnt sure whether to fine out if it was a girl or a boy but it is nice knowing and at least we only have to pick one name now. We are thinking of Ben and then having my dad's name and hubby's dad's name as middle names. My dad died 3 years ago so it will be a nice way to remember him.

flamesparrow · 06/09/2005 11:55

I love the name Ben - not sure why, it just always seems soft and strong at the same time.

3k · 06/09/2005 11:56

Sorry for worrying you Flamesparrow and thanks for looking out for me.

I'm a bit worried about the leaky breasts too, the doctor said she thought it was ok and that my hormones are a bit over the place but I think i might check with my midwife just incase :-)

chloe55 · 06/09/2005 11:57

I love Ben and would have had that too if my dh best friend wasn't calle it - some people are so inconsiderate oooh, you're making me want to know the sex of mine again now!

3k · 06/09/2005 12:01

Ben was also my grandads name so it will be a bit of a family name. Well his was Benjamin but we like Ben on it's own. Yay!! We were struggling to think of a girls name so in a way it has done me a favour!!!

flamesparrow · 06/09/2005 12:07

We've decided to stop discussing names. We can't agree on anything, and DH knows I still regret DD's name.

The leaky breasts - its your first baby, so it could just be that that is how your body works...

Tabs · 06/09/2005 12:14

Hurrah - was also sitting here getting worried about you 3K (though not stalking you like flame ). Fabulous to hear that all is well, and Ben is happily oblivious to all the commotion!

Haven't decided yet which day to go to Olympia, but if Sunday then yes, we should def meet up and compare bumps!

Feeling sorry for myself today as burnt my finger making breakfast this morning, and haven't been able to remove ice pack for more than a few secs at a time since then. Does make typing rather slower than usual!

flamesparrow · 06/09/2005 12:18

I perfected the art of stalking in college when there were several lovely gentlemen that needed careful observation ... seems that habit hasn't left me!

3k · 06/09/2005 12:38

Ahh, it's nice to know that there is lots of support on mumsnet when we need it

Tabs - keep me informed if you go to Olympia on the Sunday, be great to meet up. They have rallying with pushchairs at the mothercare stall apparantly, my hubby with enjoy that!!!!! It does sound good.

Well logging off now, off to drink more cranberry juice, I'm determined to get this water infection out of my system as soon as possible!!

Have a nice afternoon xxxxx

hotmama1 · 06/09/2005 13:03

Hello girls - haven't posted for a while. This is my 20th week - halfway - yikes it is going quickly this time around.

Luckily, as I am having another dd I don't have to buy much. As dd was born last October this means that dd2 will try have to wear another cardi etc as it may be a bit colder - but I know I will have to buy some new stuff - won't be able to resist will I?

I am going to have to buy a double buggy as dd will to be young to use a buggyboard - am going for a Phil & Ted E3 explorer which can be used as a single or double and is suitable for newborns/toddlers etc.

Will also buy some new furniture as dd will still be using the cotbed etc - should have had a bigger age difference

Can recommend the Babyshow - went to the one at the NEC this and last year - didn't know I was pregnant when I went this year or I would have done more shopping etc.

Hope all you girls are well.

YeahBut · 06/09/2005 15:26

Good to hear your lovely news, 3K after such a worrying time. Hope you are able to relax a bit now.

Things are OK here. Had an ante-natal check-up yesterday that went well. DD2 was very interested in the doppler and all the gel but less impressed by hearing her soon to be sibling's heartbeat. A very abstract concept to a 3.5 year old!!

Tabs · 06/09/2005 16:37

RachelRog - are you back from your appointment yet? What was the news? Hoping it was good.

Frizbe · 06/09/2005 19:18

Hotmama, I think we've decided on the E3 as well, seems the best by far!

Amanda1, I'm 15 weeks, 16 on Monday!

3K glad all is ok.

TicTac · 07/09/2005 02:30

Hi ladies...phew there are sure alot of posts on here to catch up with.
3K I was on hooks looking for your scan update...so pleased it all went well for you. At least you can start to relax a little.

Well DH and I are in our first night in NYC. This unborn baby of ours has now officially been on every mode of transport other than space shuttle!

This trip was a fab idea before I new I was preg but I was in bed at 7:30 last night...ouch!! We went on a trip in Cape Cod to go Whale watching, was meant to be an amazing experience...I guess itr would have been if either of us could take our heads from inside the sick bags!! 4.5 hours of chucking up...nice!!

I will try to sum up in a one liner the places we have hit so far since we got here on Thursday!

Niagara - Balckpool with amazing falls!
Boston - Clean, fresh, gorgeous city!
Plymouth - Historic and full of "local" people!
Albany - Only seen the hotel, I will post a picture when we get back...weird!
New York - This is our fifth time so nothing new...but MAD MAD MAD!

AS FOR LITTLE TICTAC! Well the doppler has proved to be a god send since we got here. I can find the heart beat really easy now as she has moved up and is located right near my belly button. Speaking of Belly button...anyone elses disappearing???

She/ he gave me a nice old boot yesterday which felt really funny. Other then that I can feel slight waves of movement from time to time.

Scan is on Monday...can't wait...if she/ he is in the right position we are going to find out if it is a blue or pink baby so will let you know.

DH made me buy some baby clothes already...wont bore you with the detail on this huge post but we have had some amazing bargains!

Right well I am off back to the hotel now but will be on the internet for the next 3 days with ease so will catch up again tomorrow maybe. As you can tell though from the time of my posting is I am 5 hours behind!

So pleased you are all ok and goodnight xxx

Morning everyone,

Lovely to hear from you TicTac - you sound like you are having an amazing time, I, on the other hand, am at work !

No new news from me - still lots of movement

ixel · 07/09/2005 09:02

Morning all, just catching up. Very jealous.. I need a holiday!!
But, my lovely double buggy arrived yesterday, so I have been playing! Even ds likes it and wouldn't get out. We've gone for a Marco Sky, and it seems great so far.
Other than that, still just waiting to feel some movement!

3k · 07/09/2005 11:40

Morning Ladies,

I'm back at work today although still in some pain. I'm going to see how I feel by Friday and if no better I will go and see the GP. I would have been on the antibiotics for 6 days by then. Drinking lots of cranberry juice and trying to drink plenty of water.

TicTac - Great to hear from you, cant wait to hear about your scan next week!!

Sooooo bored at work today, anyone out there this morning, it's very quiet!!

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 11:53

Morning 3K, know what you mean about being bored at work - I have month end to complete and have absolutely no motivation at the moment! Glad to hear you are feeling a little better and keep up with the cranberry!

3k · 07/09/2005 11:56

Hi Chloe55

Roll on Christmas, then we have a good few months off with our new little bundles!! Good luck with your month end!!

Cranberry juice isn't very nice is it!! I'm just sipping it really, but managing to drink a few glasses every day.

My FIL is coming round tonight to measure up the nursery, he is going to make us some fitted wardrobes so that we can stash toys in there. It will take a good couple of weeks for him to do the doors and hopefully it will be fitted in by November. Now we know we are having a boy, we are having Blue and Yellow and the classic winnie the pooh border. Cant remember who else is a big Eeyore fan but I'm one too and have some cuddlies and other bits to go in there!! Cant wait!

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 12:35

I'm an enormous Eeyore fan - the only baby stuff I have bought is all Eeyore. The nursery is gonna be completely Eeyore - god I'm such a geek

3k · 07/09/2005 12:39

I dont think you are a geek, I love eeyore. I can spend ages looking at all the stuff in the disney store!!! Yay for Eeyore!!!

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 12:42

Argos do a great Eeyore set - covers, moses basket, curtains, border, uplighter, sheets etc but it is a little girlie I think, they also do tigger - we don't know what we are having yet either. There seems to be a lot of pink in that particular set but I have a blue/grey carpet and bluey walls so I guess bringing in a bit of pink even if he is a boy won't matter. Have you seen the big rugs in disney store - soooooooooo cute!

Tabs · 07/09/2005 12:43

How disappointing - just tried to change my nickname to Eeyore to post you both a message, but someone else already has it! Ah well.

chloe55 · 07/09/2005 12:44

I know Tabs - I've already tried that (Chose the dogs name instead!)

TiggersAreWonderfulThings · 07/09/2005 12:51

The trouble with Eeyore is he's a bit slow, whereas I'm bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, but the most wonderful things about Tiggers, is I'm the only one, yes I'm the only one!
