Hello TicTac - the wonderful Tabs here . Thought I'd post so that you know I've found you ok!!

Hi Hotmama - will be good to have you back posting again! At least if you're back at work you can presumably post from there if your machine plays up at home again.

Right, off to bed in a min methinks.

hotmama1 · 04/08/2005 08:47

Hello girls - thanks for your concern re my non-posting.

Everything is fine, had my CVS and the result was good - phew. Should find out today or tomorrow what the sex is - and will post to let you know.

Started back at work on Monday and dd started nursery - been a weird week. I have loads of annual leave to take ( I have been on maternity leave for 11 months) so I am taking Thursday's and Friday's as annual leave until Christmas and then go on maternity leave - hurrah.

Hope everyone is O.K. and looking forward to catching up etc.

Frizbe - I am going to the Nottingham meet-up next week - so I'll see you there.

Hotmama1 x

TicTac · 04/08/2005 09:31

hullo - found new thread, well done!!

I'm doing ok, had shocking headaches the last few days and still feeling quite sick in the evenings...DH said last night that I was milking it !! Not very supportive...just cuz he has read a couple of pages of a pg book which says symptoms should subside by 12wks he thinks I am not playing by the rules...

here's to what labour will be like 'the books say you should stand up/breath/pant/relax...'

TicTac · 04/08/2005 10:20

Teuch...get your DH to come round to ours and he can clean up my projectile and I am 13 weeks!!! I think he will stop giving you a heard time

Found the pushchair of my dreams....Going to get the Bebe Confort Loola with Creatis car seat...any views? (oh and I am not getting it yet but the way, just had a look, play and decided!)

Hi Ladies,

All ok from me except I too have had really bad cramps in my lower stomach. I had one so bad last thursday I doubled over and thought something awlful was happening to "Delbert" as we now call him. I had a scan on Friday and all was ok so I tried to ignore it but then on Monday they got bad again. I went to the GP and he said I had Broad Ligament pains which is where the ligaments from the pelvis to the uterous stretch and tangle up as the baby moves up. He said to take paracetamol as they can be quite bad and are common between 14 - 16 weeks. What I want to know is why dont they warn you about these kind of pains in the pregnancy books????? They have gone off a bit but twinge every so often.

As for buying for Delbert, I have made a list of stuff I want and bought a few bits but I have been stocking up on baby wipes, lotions, poweders etc every time I go shopping if they are on offer. I figured I could use that kind of stuff on myself and felt "safe" buying them. Mother in law bought round a baby bath and top and tail set last week too. So exciting, once I know if Delbert is a girl or boy I will go and buy some stuff but my friend said to get stuff in sales as they dont wear them for long.

OMG sorry I just realised how long this posting was :-)

TicTac · 04/08/2005 10:47

3K - Sorry to hear you have pains...and your right...no mention in those darn preg books! Did your due date change with your scan?

Your like me with this being your first baby...you just have to get everything dont you...LOL. Especially chuffed for you since you went through IVF to get your little Delbert!!

Hi everyone,

I am due on the 13th February and it is my first. Had been trying for a year, very excited and sooo nervous too. Already in maternity clothes or very low combats! Hoping the tiredness is going to start easing now I am just past the 12 week mark.

3k · 04/08/2005 11:02

Hi TicTac

I was 13 weeks and 1 day when I went for my scan and she made me 13 weeks and 4 days which I know isnt right as we had IVF but glad baby is growing well. I'm not sure if that would change my date or not. I suppose that would make me due in January.

You are right, you want to buy loads for the baby especially on your first. I am so excited, cant wait till he is here. Once I've had 2nd scan and blood tests done I will shop shop shop!!!! I have antenatal appointment at hospital on 15th - cant wait, want to hear Delbert's heart beat!!!

teuch · 04/08/2005 11:02

welcome chloe and congrats! I'm actually a bit of an interloper on this thread as you'll see from the stats below but I ain't budging!

How have you been feeling apart from the tiredness? I am very envious of your bump - I am just a blump at the moment! No bump yet can't fit into ANY clothes

TicTac · 04/08/2005 11:04

Hi Chloe55 and welcome!! If you post your stats the wonderful tabs will add you to the stats list.

Age, baby number, DH age and which town you live in (oh and if you have any preg history)

There are a few of us on here preg with first (inc myself) and I think a few of us have mentioned being in mat clothes already so you are not on your own! Have you had a scan yet?

One of our members here is preg with second child, had her scan and found there to be twins!! Thats, Jua, she usually posts Monday/ Tuesdays...

Again - welcome and huge congrats!

OP posts:
chloe55 · 04/08/2005 11:06

Hi Teuch, thanks for the welcome.

I have been feeling quite sick but have actually only thrown up twice so I think I have been quite lucky on that front which is good coz I have a serious sick phobia! I get bad indigestion after eating and struggle to eat much really so have lost 1/2 stone even though I look twice the size - I'm sure that will change soon though! I am pleased to have a bump but part of me thinks, oh no I am gonna be enormous in a few months which won't be comfy. I have had a scan at 7weeks (early due to bleeding and 2 past miscarriages) and there is only one heartbeat so it's not twins.

chloe55 · 04/08/2005 11:08

Stats: I'm 24, DH is 27 (still getting used to this abbreviating lark!) Is my first baby and I live in West Yorkshire

TicTac · 04/08/2005 11:08

3K - Not sure if you read my posting yesterday but we are off to Canada and the USA in a few weeks and it seems we can get a 3D ultrasound with DVD etc for £90 (miles away from the sometimes hundreds you can pay over here) so we are going for that! I think I will become a shop aholic when we are there!

I am not having my 20 week scan until I am 23 weeks so feel cheated of all those extra prep weeks hence the 3d scan...

Don't change your date....stick with us ladies over in Feb, you will prob give birth in Feb anyway and if you go into labour in Jan we can all be jeleous and sulk because we are still carrying massive bumps!

OP posts:
3k · 04/08/2005 11:10

Hi Chloe55. This thread is getting big!!!! All these Feb babies

I too have a bump and in maternity clothes. Asda is great for cheapy ones if you are on a budget like me. I got some well comfy jogging bottoms for £4 and a long sleeved top for £4 last week. I also bought a pair of maternity jeans on mothercare for £12.50 which were half price. My mum reckons I'm aiming for at least at 10lb baby cos of my size - she reckons I look 5 months gone!!! Scary but cool too.

Also I have felt flutterings on one size of my tummy, sonographer said I was the 3rd person to say it at about 13 weeks and that my baby moves so much she wouldnt be surprised if it was the baby!!!!

chloe55 · 04/08/2005 11:16

Wow that's amazing to be able to feel the baby - I can't wait for that part to happen.

I got some really cheap clothes in the Next sale that's on now and fashion at the moment is great for us pregnant ladies coz everything is so flattering for the larger girl - I love it, gypsy skirts, boho tops what a time to bloom!

3k · 04/08/2005 11:21

TicTac - I did read your message about the scan and I'm so jealous!!! I would love a 3d or 4d scan but they are very expensive in the UK. You will have to tell us all about it when you come back and post a photo for us.

Chloe55 - I can only feel Delbert when I lay on my left hand side - it feels weird kind of like bubbles and like someone tapping really fast on my belly with their fingers. It stops after a few seconds and if I put my hand there I cant feel a thing. I think when I lay on that side perhaps I'm laying him on his head and he is protesting!!!!!!

TicTac · 04/08/2005 11:34

I will certainly post an update and a picture if I can figure it out!

OP posts:
chloe55 · 04/08/2005 11:45

Yeah please do tictac, I have had a little look on the web at some of those 3d/4d images and they look great. I am a bit upset because the hospital wouldn't give me a 12 week scan due to the fact I already had one at 7 weeks so my next seems like ages off. My widwife was lovely though and she let me listen to the heartbeat at 11 weeks which she said was quite unusual to hear so early on. I am tempted myself to get a doppler now - has anyone else invested?

Tabs · 04/08/2005 11:46

Morning ladies

Welcome and congratulations to you Chloe55. Fancy not sharing the first 9 weeks of knowing you were pregnant with us . Are you new to MN, or did you just not want to tempt fate given your previous experiences? (I am quite nosey btw!!)

Teuch - your DH sounds like mine. Whenever I have no energy for stuff now he says 'I thought it was supposed to come back after 12 weeks'.
How are you getting on with your doppler now? Nemo always says that she's never struggled to find the heartbeat, but I've only found it properly the once, at 10.5 weeks. I try every few days now, and sometimes chance upon a rate that could well be Chip, but I can never hear it or hold onto it for more than a split second. Are you finding it higher than before now?

TicTac - pretty sure I saw that pushchair last weekend, but can't remember exact details, or whether I pushed it. If it's a 4 wheeler that won't be good off road then I probably didn't!

chloe55 · 04/08/2005 11:51

Morning Tabs,

I'm fairly new to this site - have been on the pregnancy topics but have only just found out this thread existed. My DH is also having a bit of a go claiming that all the pregnancy side effects should have gone by now - he doesn't understand why I am still always tired, grrrr - I wish they could have a few days of feeling like we do (not that I'd give it up for the world)

TicTac · 04/08/2005 12:00

Tabs it is a 4 wheeler although front wheel drive IYKWIM. I wanted something that didn't take up all the space in the world so this one is perfect for me. Oh and it is cute, modern, functional etc..all the important things

Chloe - That is seriously tight of your hosptial to not offer another scan. I had one at 7 weeks coz of a bleed and still got my 12 week and will be getting my 20 week too. Big meanie bobs in West Yorkshire! Would you not consider paying for a standard 2d ultrasound privately? I think Babybond offer them although I am not too sure on the cost.

OP posts:
chloe55 · 04/08/2005 12:06

I never really thought about private to be honest. It was the mean cow on reception who said that they were too busy and other expecting mums had priority - I am not normally a violent person but I wanted to jump across that desk and lamp her! But I silently cried instead. She only looked young so I guess she just wasn't thinking how important/worried we all are at this stage. Gosh it seems strange to hear you guys talk of baby stuff to buy - I am desparate to be prepared but just don't want to tempt fate.
