Amanda - big big hugs for hep injections... doesn't sound fun

Sooo... what you all craving? I'm eating all the fruit in sight, and still wanting sushi.

Hi all and especially Amanda. I too am on the heparin injections as i have a blood clotting disorder, leiden V. What do you have? I don't find the injections too bad - i had some bad bruises at first but it seems to be grtting better. My midwife told me to try and put the needle in at 90 degrees and inject slowly to avoid bruising. Are you on 20mg a day? I had to do this last time as i had a dvt at 10 weeks so am quite a veteran. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

I haven't posted much for ages but have been reading it all. I am now 17 weeks so three weeks to scan but i think i can feel movement - little fluterings and poppings. My back has been playing up for about two months when i pulled something. I've seen the NHS physio who has given me some exercises to do. I am also off to yoga this week so hope that might help. I get very stiff if i sit for too long.

Amanda1 - know where you're coming from re the heparin injections! I have been injecting myself daily since 6 weeks due to DVT in previous pg. Not pleasant, and I'm still not really used to it either. You have my sympathies hun!

Managed to get some nice maternity clothes yesterday - they have a "Miss Etam" here (Holland) so I picked up a lovely top, which dd1 actually spotted at said "how about this one mummy?"! Also got some nice maternity jeans but they are still a bit loose even on the tightest fastening. Still feels a lot better than the big baggy trousers I had on yesterday! DD1 is into her second week at school now, staying for lunch all of this week, then staying the whole day next week. I've no idea what I'll be doing with myself or dd2 when she's away the whole day - I think we'll both be feeling slightly lost without her! I really must start looking into toddler-friendly things to do! It's just started raining here, so that puts paid to us going to the fair this afternoon. Ho hum!

Posts crossed Morgan! My DVT was at 10 weeks last time too. They ran all kinds of tests but couldn't find anything, so they have put it down to pregnancy only and I'm now on a preventative dose - was tinzaparine in the UK, but they use fraxaparine in the Netherlands. On the lowest dose possible - only 0.3mg per syringe, but that's enough! I had big bruises all over my tummy to start with and still get the odd one - didn't know about the 90 degrees thing though, so I'll give that a try. (Sorry, I know you were asking about Amanda1 but I just thought I'd put my tuppence worth in too!)

Morning Ladies,

BIG hugs to Amanda - I hope your appointment went well and I'm sure you will be fine with the injections once you start them. I had two injections a day for IVF and once you get used to them they get better although I was pleased once I finished them all!!

TicTac - congrats on baby girl!! Have you chosen any names yet?

Does anyone else know if they are having a girl or boy yet? My little boy was kicking quite hard last night just above my belly button, feels really nice but he starts just when I get in bed and want to sleep. DH still not properly felt him move yet and I cant wait for him to feel the baby as it must be hard for men not to feel every little kick and bond in that way.

Hi kando. I'm on 20mg of clexane (enoxaparin) a day - just one injection. I will go up to two injections a day at 28 weeks and then back to one after birth.

Have started a new thread here ladies.

Tic-Tac - lovely to read your post! Congrats

My amnio on Monday went smoothly this time - thank goodness - and they rang us yesterday to say all was well and there were no traces of downs so I am now officially going to enjoy this pregnancy.
I am still taking it easy but no side effects from the amnio apart from a tender tummy........the asked if we wanted to know the sex of the baby and my husband said NO!!! I would have said yes if I had answered the phone.

Very relieved!
